Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great features! Love these pants for farm work. They are quick-drying and hard-wearing. I bought a size 14 based on prior reviews, but they are a bit too big, and I need a belt. They run true to size, in my opinion. I love all the pockets that zip up.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great fit and features. Bring it back please! I have been buying this pants for many years in petite sizes. It had a great fit and function. Unfortunately recently they have not been available. There are similar pants, but none with the number of pockets. I also liked that it did not have a label on the outside of the pants as I detest labels on my clothing.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from No substitute for discontinued Comfort Trail pants It’s hard for me to rate these without comparing them to my all-time favorite Comfort Trail pants, which I’ve been buying and wearing for over a decade but are now discontinued. The Vista Trekking fabric is too thin for my liking. I can see why this would be a feature that many people like. They are virtually weightless and the fabric has been comfortably cool, particularly in the wickedly hot and humid heat waves we’ve been having. (My favorite Comfort Trail fabric was always cool and comfortable to me, and I was amazed that they felt like a natural fiber rather than synthetic.) However, there are several things I don’t care for about this lightweight fabric on the new pants: they snag easily, and when I put anything in the pockets the item isn’t secure, but rather slides around and bulges out. Combined with these pants running large, things in the pockets move around too much in the excess fabric and I look like I am carrying handfuls of marbles weighing me down. There’s no structure to the pockets and that’s what I’m looking for in a pair of pants that I wear hiking, gardening, walking the dog and other similar activities. Actually, there is one more thing I don’t like about this fabric now that I think about. I find they stretch throughout the day, so while they are slightly too big when I first put them on, at the end of the day I feel like I’m swimming in them. Oh, and they do have a bit of a swishing sound when you’re walking in them. By comparison, what I loved about the now discontinued Comfort Trail pants was the pockets: two deep back zip pockets, a deep zip thigh pocket and nice deep front pockets. I could wear them on a short hike and carry the limited items I need in my pants, when gardening I could carry small tools, and the pants pockets were particularly for spending the day visiting a museum or an amusement park—because you could keep your money or phone or keys zipped in your pockets and carry nothing. Some practical observations: the back pockets are fairly shallow and I’m not sure what I would use them for. When I rolled up the legs and to see how the tab feature worked (not something I typically do but I was curious) they stayed rolled much better than I anticipated although the lack of structure to the fabric meant they did unroll and hang a little bit on the side where there isn’t a tab. I don’t think these Vista Trekking pants are a poor quality, but I also don’t find the combination of design and quality to align with what I’m looking for. Clearly there are people who love these pants like o loved my Comfort Trail pants, which proves the old saying there’s a lid for every pot.
