Maine boots
Good shoe. Size 14D could be a little tighter around the ankles which with the sole heel allows more movement in the ankle on uneven terrain, especially un-seen objects like tree branch or stone.
Had to replace in sole with better padded insert with instep support.

Design Flaw
I previously owned the 8" version of these and loved them. They lasted nearly a decade after having the soles replaced several times.
I opted for this 10" version this time and after only a few uses I noticed a serious design flaw — the rubber sole comes up too high and so when you're walking, the inside edge is constantly hitting your ankle bones, causing pain and discomfort after only 10-15 minutes of walking or hiking.

Great boot, poor execution.
These boots are awesome looking on their own and build quality is top notch. I'm from New England so I love they're made in Maine. The problem with them (as others have noted) is they don't look great on because there's too much canvas around the ankle. I'm 6 feet, 210lb guy with an athletic build. When I lace them up they are closed all the way with room to spare. They look crunched up. I honestly don't wear them much due to this. Sucks. LL Bean has been making boots long enough to know better. No excuse. This great boot should be revised (and swapped out for people who bought this version).

Way to Big
Canvas is nice….but should’ve downsized 1-2 sizes for this one. Even with thick wool socks and when laced as tight as possible I’m swimming in them not just in the footbed but around the ankle and shin as well. Maybe a good option if you’re wearing double thick socks.

Good looking boots!
My husband loves his boots! I purchased the LL Bean fur inserts, too. His feet stay dry and warm. Highly recommend the fur inserts for cold days.
