GREAT MOCCASIN- DANGEROUS SOLE
I just received these bison moccasins today. They are a classic slipper with bison uppers trimmed with leather and a smooth leather sole. A beautiful slipper featuring the craftsmanship that we have all come to enjoy from Bean. So I tried them on in my carpeted bedroom. The fit was perfect, but when I stood up and tried to walk they were so slippery that I could not make it safely 10 feet to my texture-tiled living room. I mean my legs would surely have come out from under me if I persisted. Think trying to walk on an ice rink in leather street shoes. But I like these moccasins so much that I decided to purchase a steel wire brush in an attempt to rough up the smooth leather enough to walk safely on smooth surfaces. I will let you know the results later. Meanwhile I cannot understand why Bean would issue a slipper like this. To be fair they do show a photo of the bottom and they do warn that they need to be roughed up to be safe. But they do not advise as to what to do if you plan on using them indoors and have carpeted floors. I think that they are trying to be true to an original design of 100+ years ago before modern, synthetic soles were available. I have their shearling winter slippers and they have synthetic, textured soles. Why they don't issue these summer, leather lined moccasins with the same sole is beyond me. Anyway, beware that these beautiful moccasins are seriously dangerous as shipped and if the soles cannot be roughed up prior to wearing anywhere indoors the user will likely find him or herself on the floor and maybe with broken bones! I will keep you posted as to the results after I try to rough them up with a steel bristle brush.

Leather slippers (moccasins)
Been wearing moccasins since my early teens, now 75. These are the best, all things considered, commercially available, at this price. They are for indoor use only. You will get 2-4 years out of them. Maybe 5 years if you don’t scuff your feet and they will be worn out with holes in the bottom. Good value for the money - recommended.

Great, until they weren’t
I purchased these moccasins for my father to wear in his home. He only wears them in winter and has never worn them outside. he had always wanted a pair of these, and I thought it would be an excellent Christmas present. I fully expected them to last for the rest of his life as he was 83 years old when I gave them to him. However, less than two years later, they have holes in the soles. He has never worn them outside in his home has oriental rugs over hardwoods. I am incredibly disappointed in the quality of these moccasins.

True comfort and durability
Have worn the LLBean double-sole, leather-lined, moccasin slipper as my at-home, lounging footwear for about 30 years during which I’ve worn-out about 15 pair. The bison leather version is my favorite. No single-sole slipper could have come close in durability. Hope to continue buying them and receiving them as gifts for years to come.
