That's why we designed our L.L.Bean Base Layers to take the guesswork out of finding the right weight, or fabric, or fit. These midweight base layer pants are our most versatile--we love layering them under our hiking pants on the trail, or under snow pants for that first snowshoe of the season.

It’s the awful elastic in the waist band
The quality and the length were great. The problem is the tight elastic at the waist. I’m a senior and my waist is not as small as a younger woman. The unforgiving elastic waist that has no way of being adjusted is troublesome and very uncomfortable. A simple drawstring and no elastic would be a far superior choice

Nice pants.
I bought these to be a base layer when the weather is especially chilly on my morning walk. Have not had to use them yet. In trying them on they fit well and seemed comfortable. They came out of the wash well. Substantial without being too heavy or bulky.

Passed 20 degree test in NYC
These fit fairly tight but are a nice texture and really warm. I tried them 3 days ago in 20 degrees walking around NYC. Good quality.

So soft! Happy with purchase :)
These are one of my favorite purchases from Bean, both the top and bottom. I was pleasantly surprised by how soft and warm the material feels on skin. My main concern was sizing as I did not want to wear base layers that are too form-fitting or movement constricting. I'm 5'7'', 155 lbs. and generally wear size 10 pants / medium. I got these in Large Regular and wear them under scrubs. The large looks fitted on me but not tight. Length of pants hit ankle bone just right. Warm & comfortable! Made in El Salvador.
