Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good fall coat for the most part So much I like about this coat but also some problems. The sleeves seem too long. Folding back the sleeves would work because the cuff is corduroy but when you cuff the sleeve to show the corduroy the seam and lining of the coat does not look finished. It would be a perfect coat if there were more attention to detail in the construction and sewing. I do think the fabric used for this coat is very nice.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great style, not-so-great quality? I love the style and fit of this jacket, but after just 2 weeks of wear three of the buttons started to fall off (broken threads) and the lining was pilling quite badly. Luckily these are both easy fixes with a fabric shaver and some needle/thread, but I was a bit disappointed with lack of longevity for the price. Hoping this is just a one-off issue!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not Like The Old One I have owned two barn coats. The second, now 8 years old, is worn at the cuffs, and my puppy chewed the front hem, but I'm still wearing it. I would replace it in a minute if you brought back the original quality, with quilted lining and long enough to cover my behind in really cold weather. Please consider bringing it back.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Classy Jacket I’m pretty petite. 4’9 105lbs. I didn’t think this jacket would look good on me because of the large outside pockets. I ordered it in the black to try and minimize the pocket size as another commenter did. It’s true it does look beautiful on and you don’t notice the pockets so much. It all looks pretty streamlined. I did originally order it in the petite extra small but it was too snug in the armholes and arms even a tad more so than the waxed cotton down jacket made by the same British manufacturer. I purchased that in a Pet x small and can just get a thin puma cotton shirt under it which is just fine because the coat is so warm! At any rate I exchanged the Field Coat for a petite small so I could get a sweater under it. It fits beautifully and I’m very happy with the purchase even though I have to fold the cuffs up now because of the larger size. I recommend the Field Coat. Just know you may need to size up from your regular size.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Cute, but the quality doesn’t match the price IMO While this coat is very cute and stylish, and I do like it (I have it in saddle with the dark green corduroy trim), the reason I dropped off two stars is because the quality vs pricing doesn’t make sense. I also have the LL Bean barn coat, and while that coat is less expensive, you get more material and the pockets are lined and the cuffs have more of the corduroy for when your fold up the sleeve — where it shows the contrasting corduroy color. On this coat the corduroy is so small that you can only fold the sleeve over a small amount in order to see the contrasting corduroy color. (Hopefully that makes sense?) Also, I had hoped that for the price it would be warmer, the lining is thin and while this will be a great coat for fall, and I can wear a sweater under it for added warmth, for the cost, it’s really just a one season coat unfortunately. For the price, the attention to detail could have been better and more thoughtful and the lining could have been thicker so that you can wear for both fall and winter.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Guess how old my Field Coat is? Just thought I would jump on to review a nearly 40yr old coat Field Coat. Yes, it is sort of a family heirloom. Actually my daughter passed it on to me! Fall is approaching, (yard work) and I will be using it again…as usual. Some things just make me smile. It is worn but indestructible.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this jacket! It’s a beautiful jacket with the right length and fit! The fabric is high quality, and I was surprised to see the few offered in store were marked down nearly 50% off.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exactly What I Wanted! I've wanted a chore/farm jacket ever since I first saw the Paynter version. I was thrilled to find LL Bean's version. That it was on sale was icing on the cake! It fits me perfectly, including my arms, which is often a problem for me since mine are so long. It is exactly what I wanted. Where I now live is chilly and drizzly most of the year, making this the perfect thing to throw on when I need to run errands or walk the pup. Honestly, I couldn't be happier with the purchase.
