Rated 2 out of 5 by from Just another backpack now This bag is now just another mass produced casualty. The Continental Rucksack used to be a gorgeous waxed canvas, with full grain leather accents, panels, and straps. Now it's plastic, plastic, and plastic.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Plenty of Useful Pockets and Comfortable I've used the rucksack on three day hikes and found it very comfortable. The reason I chose the rucksack is the exterior pockets do not share space with the main compartment. Many packs do not have any or not enough pockets; and when they do, they usually share space with the main compartment. My 18 oz. water bottles fit perfectly in the side pockets.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Stitching coming out. Only used 4 or 5 times and the stitching is coming loose. I do not overload it with more than 10 lbs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This thing will be an heirloom I bought this pack over 20 years ago. It’s been with me on four continents in everything from the most austere environments to busy cities, and still going strong. I fully expect to leave it to my son in my will in another 40 years.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Ok, but limited uses This is an ok bag. The laptop sleeve is 1/4“ too small for my 17” laptop and the bag is relatively heavy. I still prefer the lightweight no-frills one I bought ~30 yrs ago. I suggest you offer a simple one with no sleeves or interior pockets. My OG bag has served me in all phases of my life including outdoors adventures, travel, laundromat runs in foreign countries and urban grocery shopping. I love the fact that you can just open it up and drop a brown paper grocery bag into it. (Side pockets even hold bread and wine). I still I use it almost daily to haul heavy stuff in from the car. It is also easy to clean and quick drying. The new bag is bigger on the outside but much, much smaller in terms of carrying capacity. There is definitely no hosing it out and hanging it to dry. I have had it for about a year and found very few uses for it. Sometimes simple is better.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Incredible Backpack I've had this pack for over 10 years. I LOVE it. It's lasted me through two years in the Peace Corps - in and out of buses, horse carts, taxis, planes, etc. - and years of hiking and travel. This bag is amazing - it's my go-to for everything. Each side pocket fits a standard Nalgene bottle. If you're on the fence, get it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Happy with my Rucksack. This pack is comfortable with adjustable straps, and is a great size for a long weekend of travel. Outer pockets are a good size for packing or for items such as water bottles. Fits well in airplane overhead compartment. Very sturdy.
