Rated 2 out of 5 by Janet from Premium dog bed Overall Rating: ★★☆☆☆ I was really excited about this L.L. Bean dog bed — the materials and brand reputation seemed promising. However, I ended up disappointed for a couple of key reasons: 🔹 Comfort Issue When my dog steps onto or off the bed, the padding is very weak and saggy. It doesn’t offer much support, after my dog gets up off the bed there’s a big same spot where he was laying. It looks like he just laying on the floor, so the bed quickly loses its shape and doesn’t feel comfortable after only a short time of use. 🔹 Material Quality Isn’t As Expected While the cover is sturdy, the overall feel of the bed — especially the filling and support — is underwhelming compared to what I expected from a premium product. Some other reviewers have also noted that the current fabric blends and inserts aren’t as tough or durable as previous iterations of LL Bean beds. 🔹 Not Worth the Price for My Use Case For the price point, I expected something more robust — especially a bed that feels like a supportive resting place when my dog gets on and off it. Unfortunately, it just doesn’t hold up to regular use for my pup. Positives: ✔ Removable cover for easy washing ✔ Looks nice and durable at first glance ✔ Some dogs may find it fine for lounging Negatives: ✖ Pads/surface doesn’t support stepping well ✖ Loses shape quick

Rated 4 out of 5 by Pippa Up North from Added memory foam to make more comfortable I bought this bed for my 2 black labs during the summer of 2025 so they could rest on it together. The bed is well made and even my female dog's sharp claws have not damaged the cover when she scratches to fluff the bed up. My male dog never laid on the bed, choosing the couch instead. In fact, my dogs mostly always slept on the couch rather than the dog bed which I found frustrating. Thinking that the problem was with the insert which contained very little filling, resulting in hard contact with the floor when the dogs would lay on it, I decided I needed to alter the insert in some way. LL Bean does offer a memory foam bed insert but at $185 for the XL size, I decided I needed another option so I instead bought a twin size bed 2" memory foam bed topper for $40 and cut it down to fit the dog bed and placed the foam under the Bean insert inside the bed which made things more comfortable for my pups. Now they choose the bed over the couch most of the time so problem solved. If your dogs are not too particular they may love this bed without the alteration.

Casco and her sister Roxi enjoyed it for many years as did my subsequent dogs Jaxson, Senge and now Baxter and Booth. We had to replace the insert and the denim is a bit faded but the boys still love it. Thanks LL Bean for a great product!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Lori from Great quality and I bought this exact one in 2010 for another dog for over 11 years and became a hand me down for our coton de tulear puppy in 2023. He chewed around the zipper part and destroy it. He is now out of that chewing stage and he is enjoying it as well.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Lori from Large Premium Dog Bed with Denim Cover This is now the third dog bed we have purchased and while the quality of the insert has remained consistent, the material of the cover is horrible. No longer the nice heavy cotton material they used to be made from and dog hair just sticks to it. For the price, not worth it. Wanted to switch out cover for a different color and was told I would have to send the entire bed back and re-order. Will not be buying from Bean again.
