Versatile and great for travel
I bought these pants to take on vacation, since they pack down small without wrinkling too much. They're comfortable and they dry quickly. I never actually did zip off the legs to wear them as shorts, but found the fabric adaptable to both cooler and warmer weather.

Lightweight, lots of utility
Great Pants! The zippers work well, the material is lightweight but durable. The belt is a nice touch too!

OK but not too practical.
Fit and washabiluty are fine. However the pockets are shallow--will not even hold a phone securely. Plus more pockets overall. These are not really great for a safari.

Great for safari pants!
These are lightweight and comfortable. I like that the waist is a higher waist as it is more flattering. The Short length worked well for me too.

Nor happy
Very disappointed in the design of these pants. Does a human try on the clothes after they're made? They poof out right under the belt line down to mid thigh and look like jodhpurs. Also wish LL Bean would offer more pants that are highrise.. went through the low-rise craze in high school in the 70s. Not a good look or feel nowadays, especially when hiking, gardening, etc. You show older women models in your catalog. I can't believe they'd wear lowrise pants.

I was optimistic, but....
I utilized the sizing chart provided but the pants ended up too large. The size smaller fit OK so I kept them and packed them for Africa. Unfortunately, when I zipped the lower leg off they were way too short for my liking when sitting down. Now I'm stuck with them....lesson learned.

Weird shape, even in multiple sizes
I had several pairs of these from 20+ years ago and the elastic finally gave out, so I wanted to replace my current pairs. I am a very curvy, wide-hipped woman, and I usually appreciate pants that take into account women with curves. These were so wide and loose around my hips and thighs that they stuck out. The pockets only made it worse - the zipper on the back pocket stuck out, eliminating even the possibility of having these tailored. I tried two sizes - M and L - the M was too tight around my crotch but still stuck out weirdly around my thighs and the L was too big and stuck out even more. Returned them and went with a competitor. Too bad - I loved the last set and I'm so faithful to LLBean!
