As easy to pull on as sweats but suited to much more than lounging, these ripstop shorts blur the lines between technical performance and casual comfort.
Equally soft and durable, these shorts are an abrasion-resistant, moisture-wicking blend of cotton and polyester with spandex that stretches with every move, yet won't stretch out of shape. Comfy enough for everyday but technical enough to perform on every adventure.
- Durable water-repellent finish keeps moisture out.
- Stretches with every move, yet won't stretch out of shape.
- Moisture-wicking, abrasion-resistant blend of 73% cotton, 23% polyester, 4% spandex.
- Machine wash and dry.
- Comfortable elastic waistband with adjustable drawstring and fly front.
- Zippered hand and rear pockets for added security.

Like 'em, but hard to cinch up
Like the material, feel, and zippered pockets (though a second one on back would be nice). Only complaint: for my build, even though size is right, they're hard to keep up on waist with anything substantial (like a phone) in pocket -- drawstring won't do it, no matter how tightly I tie it, and elastic is too ... elastic. Sometimes end up jury rigging a belt using back loop. So might suggest either a redesign or adding real belt loops for those who want/need them.

Shorts for the Hubs
Nice fit and nice material. Great for wearing around the house Leg is not too wide, which is common with many Bean styles. My only complaint would be that the color fades, even with washing inside out.

Ayuh, 🖤 wicked smart 🤓 shorts 🩳 !!
These are ideal hiking 🥾 🩳 shorts, with 2 front zipper pockets. The rip stop 😾 fabric is 🍦 soft but durable. Even though he never 🛑 wore shorts, Ol' LL 🫛🫘 Bean 'twoud be proud 🥲.

MENS rip stop shorts
MENS rip stop shorts have great fabric, nice color but they simply won’t stay up or tied. Not sure what to do about that !

Better Bean Options Available
Bought these and the 9" Multisport Shorts around the same time. Ripstop was oversized, relatively speaking. While the waist on the Multisport fit perfectly, the Ripstop will not stay up (despite the same sizing ordered). With anything in one's pockets, these will slip and sag - unattractively. I think I acquired another pair of shorts for mowing the yard - where style doesn't matter.

First time worn failure!
Waist button came apart and fell off while wearing the pants for the FIRST time! Shocking example of drop in LL Bean quality.

A decent option for hiking.
I appreciate the following features: moisture-wicking, zippered front pockets on both sides, zippered back pocket on right side (which I have not used), and 8-inch length. One downside is the inclusion of a tie front instead of a belt. While there is some elastic in the waistband, it is cumbersome. I'd much prefer a belt which would align with the "explorer" designation of these shorts. The other negative, which is more of a personal preference, is the L.L. Bean logo on the left, front below the zipper. I don't need to be a walking advertisement. I've noticed that other L.L. Bean products have included either a more prominent logo or a logo that in years past would not have existed. Overall, I'd purchase again.
