Product Details

This just might be our favorite family tent in our 109-year history. Field testing found it to be extremely weatherproof, roomy and well-ventilated. A rear "mud room" keeps wet, muddy boots and gear out of the sleeping area.

  • Floor area:: 60 sq. ft.
  • Tent floor dimensions:: 7'2" x 8'4".
  • Capacity:: 4 people.
  • Weight:: 17 lb. 6 oz.
  • Vestibule area:: 11.9 sq. ft.
  • Peak height:: 5'9".

We worked with the guides from our Outdoor Discovery Program to develop a tent capable of enduring harsh Maine weather. They put it to the test on the rugged Maine coast and on a multiday canoe trip down the Penobscot River. Our guide said, "we had heavy downpours on our first morning, and the tent was bone dry. It was great to have the back vestibule to keep our gear dry. And high winds were no problem." In fact, the ODP loved it so much, they'll be using it for all their overnight trips.

  • Fly made from 75D ripstop polyester with 1500mm PU coating.
  • Built with rugged YKK zippers.
  • Lightweight, strong aluminum frame.
  • Rear vestibule provides dry gear storage.
  • Tent body made from 75D ripstop polyester.
  • Floor made from super-tough 4 oz Oxford nylon with 1500mm PU coating.
  • Roof vents and dual doors for excellent ventilation.
  • Includes duffle style stuff sack.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quick assembly / Handles rain well Great tent. Can be assembled in 5 minutes. We experienced rain storms the second time we used it and it stayed completely dry inside. Great purchase.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Design flaws Ample space and height it’s just not good for all season. The back door has no mesh so it doesn’t ventilate very well and the set up is kind of difficult for just one person. Aside from those things I love the space and all the pockets to store things. The mud room in the back is very convenient as well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sturdy and Easy to Set Up and Takedown. This 4 person tent seems very sturdy. Easy to set up. I recommend getting the ground cover sheet We have set it up and used it 2 times. Once with two twin blow up mattresses and once with a king blow up mattress. The only complaint is I don't really see it as a 4 person tent.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tent Review Just bought this tent for a friend. We are both older and we still love to camp in tents, but we both need to use cots now. Ideally it takes two to set the tent up. But once up, her Byer of Maine EasyCot fit nicely and she had plenty of room to move around. She could have brought her Labrador sized dog and/or also fit a couple people in sleeping bags in the tent if needed. Very well made and very sturdy. Would definitely recommend this for older folks that can no longer sleep on the ground post surgery as it has more room compared to something like my 'cot/tent' combo.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great tent for cool weather camping Took this tent on a road trip to Alaska. It was cool at night and rained plenty. The tent stayed dry and comfortable. It's perfect for two people and some gear; tight but doable with 3 people. This is with mats and cots. Some individuals commented on the lack of a screen on one door. This could make a hot, stuffy tent in warm weather. But when camping in cool/cold weather, we would lose a lot of heat thru that extra screen. For us, the clue was in the name, Northern guide. I took one star off because I believe the poles would bend in a strong or gusty wind.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Tall enough for me to stand in. Took awhile to figure out the pole combination for assembly.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from ll bean northern guide tent review We just purchased this tent and were startled to find it leaking badly through the floor seams. Yes we did have the fly underneath it, purchased separately. : ). Our sleeping bags got quite wet. All this with very carefully pitched tent. No water pooling under tent. I think we. got some moisture through the vents above as well. Not up to previous lL bean standards
