Follow up Review - This is a fantastic coat!
I circled back to this page when I saw the white coat on sale and plan to purchase it in a size large as I have been working out and lost weight. I'm willing to risk spilling coffee on it now that I know the coat washes and dries well. No problems or issues!
I wrote a review in December 2025 before the northeast experienced two, large snowfalls and 10 degree weather for over a month. I was so grateful to have this coat and wore it every day. First, it is extremely light. Second, the green is really nice when it reflects the sun. I'm happy with the color. Third, the zipper only catches the fabric at the start when my pockets are too full, and the Velcro works well. Either you like Velcro or you don't. The most important feature is that in 10 degree Fahrenheit weather, I was toasty warm!! I had to shovel a lot of snow and was quite literally drenched when I finished. The coat kept me warm and safe. I felt confident that if I was stuck outside for any length of time (from an accident, car failure, waiting for the bus, etc.) that I would not freeze. Thank you L.L.Bean for a wonderful product of very high quality! Keep up the good work. I appreciate you!

would love in below knee length please
Love the concept but i have not bought and unlikely to, as i'm looking for a warm raincoat that will cover my knees, which is a prime spot that gets pummeled in rain. Also, snaps are a must, as i rarely bother with zipping and unzipping. I always skip the down coats that have only a zipper (what's the point?). Please do this one in a normal raincoat length. Kind of surprised LLBean does not have something long for rain. Oh, and what's with the outrageous price???

I bought this a month ago. I like it. It doesn’t replace my favorite LLbean jacket that I’ve had for almost 10 years! Quality isn’t the same. Zipper gets caught on the fabric. For the price (which was more expensive than the tag it came with) I wouldn’t buy again.

Need to pay attention to details
It is light weight but I find that it is not as comfortable as my down coat that I have loved ( it is not LLBean) also I have trouble getting the zipper unzipped. The strips of Velcro are not good at staying closed if not zipped and also are bad to stick to sweaters. I wish they had used snaps along with a zipper. This coat was expensive so I would have liked more thought into details like Velcro and zipper that is hard to unzip. I had read this problem from other’s reviews. I hope they make changes or this may be my last coat , it is waterproof which is nice and fits true to size.

Great and Awful
First the Great: Soft, comfy, warm & so light it can go on a coat hanger.
Awful: Poorly thought-out, time-consuming mechanisms. The device for closing the hood opening (to keep wind from blasting your head) is a nightmare on your fingers, and difficult to figure out. Outdoors on a cold day it would be murder to execute. And getting the hood top down closer to your forehead (like my other winter coats) is impossible. You have to fold it under!!! .
Also, the sleeves are WAY too long, and there is no way to tightening up the sleeves at the wrists.
I do not mind velcro along the zipper because it's a back-up when the zipper eventually breaks. But THIS skimpy velcro does not look like it will last long.
This is a high-end coat with cheaped down amenities.
