Need to pay attention to details
It is light weight but I find that it is not as comfortable as my down coat that I have loved ( it is not LLBean) also I have trouble getting the zipper unzipped. The strips of Velcro are not good at staying closed if not zipped and also are bad to stick to sweaters. I wish they had used snaps along with a zipper. This coat was expensive so I would have liked more thought into details like Velcro and zipper that is hard to unzip. I had read this problem from other’s reviews. I hope they make changes or this may be my last coat , it is waterproof which is nice and fits true to size.

Best Warm Coat
I love this coat. It fits well and is super warm as well as water proof - greater this frigid winter.

Great and Awful
First the Great: Soft, comfy, warm & so light it can go on a coat hanger.
Awful: Poorly thought-out, time-consuming mechanisms. The device for closing the hood opening (to keep wind from blasting your head) is a nightmare on your fingers, and difficult to figure out. Outdoors on a cold day it would be murder to execute. And getting the hood top down closer to your forehead (like my other winter coats) is impossible. You have to fold it under!!! .
Also, the sleeves are WAY too long, and there is no way to tightening up the sleeves at the wrists.
I do not mind velcro along the zipper because it's a back-up when the zipper eventually breaks. But THIS skimpy velcro does not look like it will last long.
This is a high-end coat with cheaped down amenities.

Good but not great and overcharged
The good:
- Warm but not heavy
- No stitching on the outside. I don't like puffer jackets that show the stitching and this is one of the few that didn't.
-Pockets are deep and had plenty of room for my keys, car remote and phone. A lot of jackets don't have deep enough pockets to keep your phone in them securely.
-No logo on the chest. I absolutely hate logos and won't buy items that have them.
The bad:
-Sleeves were too long and there isn't a good way to fix them because there are zippers at the bottom of the sleeve and also a really annoying logo in white at the wrist that says TEK. I bought a petite. Given the difficulty of shortening the sleeves I'll just live with them like that.
- VELCRO. I hate Velcro. It sticks to stuff and it's a cheap way to close a jacket. I have old LL Bean jackets that had snaps. Snaps, magnets, or even buttons. Anything but Velcro. I kept this jacket because I had so many problems finding one that would fit I was willing to put up with the annoying velcro.
-The interior chest pocket was on the wrong side. Most of them are located on the left chest because the majority of people are right-handed. This includes old LL Bean jackets that I own. This one is on the right side which makes access more difficult.
-The jacket was on sale, so I got a discount on the $400 price listed on the LL Bean website, but when I got the jacket it had a price tag on it that said $379. So it would have cost less with the discount if I'd been charged the correct amount.

Why Velcro…?
I bought this coat a few years ago and there are many things I love about it; how lightweight it is, the warmth, the fleece cuffs and the fact that it is waterproof. The one major design flaw is the use of velcro for the flap that goes over the zipper. I have ruined more than one knitted sweater and scarf because it gets caught on it. Get rid of that and replace with magnets and I would say it is a perfect coat!

Surprisingly Warm Coat
This coat is thin and is so lightweight. I was surprised at how warm it is. Even the hood keeps me warm. It's also waterproof. It fits very well too.
