Warm without feeling bulky.
Warmest coat I’ve worn. Great for extreme cold but can be worn on days when the weather is not so severe. Super warm without feeling bulky or heavy. I don’t like to drive with a coat due to the bulkiness but I don’t mind wearing this coat when I drive. Only improvement would be a chest pocket on the outside of the coat.

Great but with one issue
This would be my favorite jacket in almost every way but there was one issue - the snap-on hood comes off too easily. It often comes off when trying to pull on the hood if you are a little too hasty, or when the jacket is draped over your chair at a restaurant. I sewed the hood to the jacket in front and behind each snap, and now I love it. I recommend to L.L. Bean that the hood should be either permanently attached or attached with a nylon zipper.

Warm but disappointing quality/durability
Purchased for my son to bring back to college for second semester. This parka is replacing a TNF jacket that was no match for the upper Midwest wind. First day back, he texted me how much he loved the parka and that it was so warm! I was delighted. Second day back, he texted the attached picture saying it was already snagged and that down was coming out. He is so bummed. He has no idea what happened. The parka has only been worn for two days, during which it’s been hanging up in his room, worn walking to class, or draped over the back of a chair in a lecture or dining hall. I’ve recycled the box and packing bag/slip so I’m not sure what my options are now. He’s also hours away at school. If we send it back, he is without a winter coat until a replacement arrives. Alternatively, I have to buy a whole new parka so he isn’t without a coat in the interim. I’m usually incredibly pleased with LL Bean quality but this time I’m disappointed.

Coat is very warm and a good choice for a snowy, below zero, Upstate NY winter! Would like more pocket space, which might include an inside pocket, but overall would recommend this parka.

This Mountain Classic Down Parka is Great to keep me warm when it gets really cold. The pockets have great insulation to keep my hands warm. And it is nice and light weight.
With a beanie under the hood, a flannel shirt, and some flannel lined jeans, I stay mighty toasty!

Tight fit around chest
I wanted to love this coat SO much. It felt so warm and so well constructed. However, the fit was SUPER tight across my chest, and I'm definitely NOT a broad-chested or broad-shouldered guy. I'm very skinny. To help, I returned and ordered up to a Large, but the issue was the same. SUPER tight across my chest/shoulders/upper arm area, and then I was just swimming in a large around my waist. So, I've returned it a second time. I'm so disappointed.

Great fit for size tall
My husband is 6’2 and the tall fits him well. This coat is warm and nice looking to go out socially and to work in the very cold.
