Great Amphibious Shorts
I have been buying & wearing these shorts since ~1989 and I like them. You can camp, hike, and swim in them. They dry fast, wash well, and don't wrinkle. Also great for exercising, sailing, biking, and yard work. I live in them all summer and have a variety of colors. Have not had any problems with color fading, yet. However, though the years, I have noticed a few changes. The inseam is longer, which I don't like. These are shorts and should not hang to your knees. The material is thinner, not as robust. This will probably cause them to wear out faster. The draw string is thinner and different material- old draw string around the waist was white, similar to paracord. And the back pocket is now a little velcro patch. Used to be a plastic snap, with a flap, which was easier to open/close with one hand.
Now, will all these changes keep me from purchasing them? Obviously not. They are still great amphibious shorts that fit well. I am 5'8", 190lbs., and buy the medium size. I know all these changes through the years are to save money, and maximize profits for the shareholders. I understand that, sort of. But sometimes enough is enough. Please stop making changes. Or maybe even consider making them better, tougher, like they used to be 35 years ago? Either way, they are still great shorts and I will continue to buy them because they work. Thanks LL Bean.
