Product Details

An L.L.Bean exclusive for three decades and counting, our classic river driver's shirt has an innovative duofold construction that effectively traps and holds warmth.

  • Roomy, nonbinding fit, cut long to stay tucked in.
  • Traditional Fit: Relaxed through the chest, sleeve and waist.

We named this shirt after the Northern Maine log drivers who made their living in tough conditions - because we designed it to work just as hard. Exclusively knit for us in Nova Scotia, our legendary two-layer Henley features a chill-stopping dual-layer construction - so cold and wet stay out and warmth stays in. We love how it's tough on the outside, and soft on the inside.

  • Inside layer is made of soft, absorbent cotton.
  • Woven just for us in Canada by Stanfield's, a 160-year-old family company.
  • As a duofold construction (the cotton and wool are knitted together), it will shrink in the dryer.
  • Outer layer is 50% cotton/40% merino wool/10% nylon.
  • Machine wash, dry flat.
  • Rib-knit cuffs with Lycra® elastane.
  • Thermal construction traps air between the layers to retain warmth and helps layers hold shape.
  • Durable, quick drying wool blend outer layer keeps cold at bay.
  • Traditional two-button placket.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Luuuuv the river driver shirts So glad l bought this shirt. Had one a few years ago and don’t know what became of it. The heft, weight, and feel of this shirt SCREAM “cozy”. I have purchased other Henley shirts from other companies, and they’re just not the same. I know these are expensive but this shirt is worth it. Awesome they’ve come out with new and different colors. I think two more will round out my wardrobe just perfectly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Long lasting and warm I bought my first one in 1993. I fought forest fires as a sawyer on a USFS Hotshot crew for 19 yrs. Winter logging in N. Idaho for almost 30 yrs. This shirt was my go to and I still wear it. Holes in the armpits, at the elbows and it's soft n warm. And have two of the new ones.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Comfortable and casual warm shirt These river driver shirts are really nice. Soft and comfortable next to your skin, but warmer than just a heavy cotton first layer. I find them easy to care for, and enjoy wearing them when the weather is cold.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 30+ year wardrobe staple I have been wearing these since 1989 when a friend recommended them for chilly collegiate crew practices. My current shirt must be from the mid-90’s and it has done all kinds of fall, winter and spring sports with me, gone camping countless times, and may be my longest running piece of outdoor gear. It still looks good for its age and retains the original forest green color (sadly no longer an option for my next one).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome shirts I own 10 of these shirts and wear them under my flannel shirts all winter long. They are very well made, comfortable, durable and warm. I have owned a number of these shirts for over 10 years and they still look almost brand new.
