Why We Love Them
Whoever says “they don’t build things like they used to,” doesn't own these duck boots. Today, our Bean Boots are still sewn right here in Maine by expert craftspeople whose technical skills and passion for their work is evident in every pair of boots they make. Warm, dry feet haven’t gone out of style in a hundred years, so we haven’t needed to change L.L.’s innovative design.
- Waterproof protection of rubber-bottom boots with the supple comfort of full-grain leather.
- A uniquely shaped foot form offers comfort and stability, and a steel shank adds support.
- Footbed is lined with Thinsulate Insulation olefin/polyester for extra warmth during cold snaps.
- These boots – the “original antidote to wet feet” – were designed by L.L. Bean himself.
- Still crafted here in Maine from the highest quality materials.

Rated 5 out of 5 by eze923 from Theres a reason why they've been around since 1912 I've had the gumshoe for quite some time, but it never really did the trick in wintertime so I decided to upgrade to these guys. These guys are as good as advertised. The thinsulate provides enough warmth to keep your feet warm, but not so much where they become too sweaty. As far as sizing goes I wear a 11.5 in dress shoes/sneakers and I went with a 10 in the Bean Boots. I was glad I sized down that much. They are a comfortable fit with both thick and thin socks. Also, glad I went with the 8 inch as opposed to the 6 inch. I feel like they are the perfect size to keep your feet dry from deeper snow. All in all a perfect rain/snow shoe.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Aaron12 from Disappointed I'm a forester in Wisconsin. I wear Bean Boots most months of the year. When the bottoms wear our I send them back to Bean, they put new rubber soles on them and I'm good to go. I had a pair of Bean insulated bottom boots that finally wore out after 25 years (not enough good leather left on the uppers to sow another rubber bottom to. I liked those boots because they kept my toes warm but were not bulky. I was told they no longer made the pair I had but these were better and lighter. I ordered a pair. I have been disappointed in them since I got them. My feet are always cold. I'm not sure what season these boots are good for - but winter in Wisconsin is not one of them. Excellent quality - just not warm.

Rated 5 out of 5 by mavila from Excellent Boot, Accurate Sizing details my first time owning a pair of the legendary LL Bean boots, and I must say they more than live up to the hype. Incredibly comfortable, they feel broken in after wearing them just twice. Kudos as well for the accurate sizing info on the website -- they said they run large and they were correct. I'm normally a sz 9.5 and i ordered the sz 8 boots and they fit perfectly. One other thing I'd like to point out: I ordered them the week of Thanksgiving and was told they wouldn't arrive until January. Imagine my surprise when they showed up in mid-December! Great boot, greater customer service. Now I know why people love LL Bean so much .. I'm sold!

Rated 5 out of 5 by BetweenCoasts from Dark Ash = Brown This review is to address the Dark Ash color. For those of you who have been looking for the 8" brown bean boot, these are it. See the attached photo. The photo shown on the website is not a good representation of what these look like. The thinsulate is certainly warm. I followed Bean's suggestions and sized down (normally wear a 9 but got an 8). These fit perfectly and with regular socks on. I can even wear them untied and the heel won't slip. With thick boot socks on, I imagine these will be pretty snug. But I doubt thick socks will be necessary to keep your feet warm in these since the thinsulate does the trick. Bottom line, if you are like me and were searching for the 8" brown Bean Boot, these are it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by HappyhumanBean from Good News & Bad News Just started wearing these iconic Bean boots with the 12' Merino Wool Socks in the snow & 20 degree weather. Feet stayed dry & warm. However, I wasn't 100% happy with the craftsmanship. Although the leather upper attachment seems adequate, I noticed some of the leather edges seem to be cut slightly uneven & ruin the appearance somewhat.Lastly, the bottom part of the tongue appears to bunch up when I lace them up creating an unsightly look.Workmanship doesn't seem seem to meet the usual high L.L. Bean Standards. However, I'm willing to wear them some more & by doing so some of these issues will disappear? Maybe my expectations are scaled too high or possibly I just got an odd pair?

Rated 4 out of 5 by lowslowflyer from Can tell these will be great boots Can tell these will be great boots. My two comments echo others: 1) They will run big. I wear a 10.5M shoe, and so I bought a 10 boot. They fit perfect. I have the thinsulate, and I can wear a medium weight wool sock, and my toes still have room to "wiggle". In fact, I have a small heal slip issue with one boot, indicating I could not get a larger size if I wanted. However, with the size I have, the width cannot be any narrower, or the boots would pinch my feet. My feet our not wide by any means. 2) Finally, they are molded, semi-soft rubber bottoms. At first walking seemed strange, but I quickly got use to it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by mjb5 from These are the best boots I have ever owned I recd these boots for an xmas present. I have always been somewhat reluctant to buy them because of the price, but I finally recd a pair for the holidays. I never knew what I have been missing. I have owned all sorts of brand boots over the years and none compare to the Bean boots. I used them right away during the recent snow storms. They were superb. I was out in the "elements" for several hours and not once did my feet feel cold or wet. These are the best. If you like to be outdoors, get the Bean boots. The suggested sizing works well too. I usually wear a size 10 1/2 shoe and I recd the size 9 boots. They fit great!

Rated 5 out of 5 by OleMissHTDR from Great fit I've owned several pairs of Bean Boots over the years, this pair is by far my favorite pair, they fit great, I know you're supposed to go a size down when it comes to Bean Boots but the pair with the "Thinsulate" fits more snug than the original pair I own, so take that into consideration when you are buying these boots. Overall, it's about your comfort, I normally wear a size 10 shoe but have always bought my Bean Boots in a size 9. My toe doesn't rub in the front of the boot but it does feel tighter around my foot. If you mind your pair feeling a little snug, i recommend buying your normal size.
