Rated 5 out of 5 by blindsight from good when you carry alot I've had many backpacks from llbean and all have their virtues. I've made a study of back pack abuse. I carry a lot of things on a daily basis. my pack can easily weigh 25 lbs when fully loaded. my last bag, the turbo transit, fit it all but for some reason the way the pockets were set up made it feel unwieldy to carry. the same 25 lbs of stuff fits in this bag and because of the compartment/pocket layout it is much easier to distribute the weight in a comfortable manner. the chest strap is actually a part of the shoulder straps which makes it far more secure. it's also an improvement over the transit packs because it has a generous sized water bottle holder that isn't as prone to having the bottle flip out when handling the bag. the clips on the side that hold the front pocket closed do a good job at holding the bag in a way to make it more compact and less like excess weight is just hanging off your back. the only addition i'd like to see is for the material to be more waterproof than just resistant. getting stuck in a good downpour drenches the bags contents as well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Nicole from Lifetime bag This backpack is probably the most functional one I've ever owned. It is extremely spacious, and the big compartment in front that clips comes in handy a lot...the two spaces for water bottles are great. I found that how it fits on my shoulders feels a little funny, but I discovered that it doesn't hurt my back like my others have after wearing them for awhile, so I think the placement is beneficial. Somehow it also feels very light, even with it packed. I purchased the gray, love the gray and the orange.. my partner purchased it in black, and the blue inside is very nice.

Rated 3 out of 5 by WaistBelted from Compartments are too small I bought this to compare with the Turbo Transit III Pack, which I love and have in triplicate for different purposes/places, but has been discontinued. This pack, despite having no bottom compartment to limit the height of items, has vertical compartments that are too narrow/thin for most items. Although it might work for books/laptops, it does not work as a weekend backpack or a flexible pack. I am considering returning it as a result... don’t be fooled by the large volume if nothing useful can fit within the compartments.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Scooners from LLBean listened!! I find this new backpack very interesting. I used to purchase the Turbo Transit backpack which, IMO, had a few issues. One, it did not have side bottle holders, Two, all the Turbo backpacks had black lining inside, hence making them a big dark hole to find objects. And three, the Turbo Transit did not have side pulling clips to center the load. The backpack used to droop and pull back with any load at all. I did love the bottom holder for clothing and wet items. Enter this backpack. Just as large, but all problems solved listed above! Wow!! I feel LLBean listened to my comments! Some of the colors have bright interiors including the black bag, which is blue inside. How nice is that? It now has side stabilizing straps, and water bottle holders. The bottom storage is missing, but this is roomy enough to stuff anything inside, so I am fine by that loss. Great backpack and thank you for the design improvements LLBean and listening to your customer base!

Rated 5 out of 5 by CCinStPaul from Roomy and portable for middle-schooler needs Our son can’t access a school locker due to COVID so must carry all materials around in backpack. This fits his growing frame and meets his needs for what a 7th grader needs to carry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by LunyLuna from Great Backpack I had bought this years ago for son who needed a large durable backpack. Still looks new. When daughter was in need of one, I bought this immediately. Laptop fits in back, roomy compartments, it is great. For some reason, when making girl items, manufacturers feel the need to trim with pastel colors. That would be my only critique. Far better to keep colors monochromatic and dark for items that will be tossed around.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Bean4ME from Large and Accommodating This backpack is extremely large, which is why I bought it, yet not overly cumbersome. I enjoy that the laptop sleeve that is essentially its own pocket and separate from other items in my pack. The sleeve accommodates my Pixel book Go in its own protective sleeve perfectly. The large main middle pocket will carry almost anything, while I use the large front pocket to carry books, folders, and similar items I need for work. The front stuff pocket is one of my favorite features because I can stuff my rain jacket inside for use if needed and without soaking my other items with rain water. The weight is distributed well and comfortable to wear to and from work, even when carrying a larger load. My 24 oz water bottle fits well and secure in either one of the side pockets. There are many colors to choose from and the contrasting blue interior is pretty sharp as well. If you are in the market for a larger than normal backpack, this pack is certainly a contender.

Rated 5 out of 5 by RichmondAND from Roomy and helpful when there aren't any lockers! With the new school pandemic normal, lockers aren't allowed and lunch is no longer served so needed a roomy backpack for a laptop, lunch, all supplies and several text books. This is working out great so far. Lots of compartments but not too many -- and lightweight when empty too. So overall a win-win, especially if your student is locker-less and carrying around everything for the entire school day!
