Introduced in 1944 as "Bean's Ice Carrier," the beloved Boat and Tote is still crafted in Maine, one tote at a time. This special crossbody edition celebrates its classic style, legendary durability and the adventures to come.
We created this Boat and Tote crossbody bag in celebration of our iconic tote--a new twist on an old favorite. Made in Maine using the same heavyweight canvas as the original, with the same extra-durable construction details and a handy removable shoulder strap. Make it your own by adding a custom monogram; we can embroider a name, initials or a favorite phrase in a wide selection of colors.

In Person Choices Rule
Perfect size for travel, and everyday use. Love the strap option! ! Great carry on ! Was glad I went to your Grand Opening in Erie , PA Seeing the difference in bag sizes first hand was a real plus. You really can appreciate the workman ship before making your choice. I’ll be returning to the store for more shopping fun!

I really like the bag, I will say it was hard getting used to since I’ve used mini backpacks since 2020. It does hold a lot, I rarely use the zipper mostly because it is a little stiff but just when I push the thing in.
I think the only complaints would be the random strings even though I had already cut the random stings they still appear and the zipper pocket has kindof come off the stitching from where it was attached. I really do like the bag and holds a lot.

Exceeded expectations, GET THIS BAG
It is the first bag that I have been grabbing all summer. It is so cute, but also very functional. I love what it can fit: wallet, two good size pouches, sunglasses etc. It could fit more, but not much more I need. The navy on white is a good look. Looks great crossbody. It has softened up a lot and I am so glad I got it.

My new “summer” purse!!!
I absolutely love it and have gotten so many compliments on it already!! I’d read several reviews of folks who complained about the “stiffness” of the tote. Obviously, you never owned one of the Bean totes!! That “stiffness” is what makes the Bean totes so durable, lasting!! I know this will be my “summer” purse for years to come!!

Perfect everyday summer bag!
This bag is the perfect size for an everyday summer bag. I’ve gotten more compliments on this than any other bag I’ve owned and it’s been so fun to decorate with charms! I love LL Bean and as always, this was so easy to get monogrammed in store.
