good shoe for my long dog walks
I have a retriever who needs a good long walk or two every day. I've put 10 miles on this shoe and I'm happy with the results. It is comfortable and my feet and toes don't hurt at the end of the day. I like the strap which I snug down so that my foot doesn't slide in the shoe on downhill sections of my walk. I read the reviews and saw comments that the shoe was hard to put on. I use a long shoe horn routinely and I loosen the strap and find it very easy to put the shoes on. I also checked the guide to fit for the shoe and saw to order a 1/2 size up from my normal size. This advice I followed and ordered the 12 for the 1st time in my 77 years. That's what earned a 4 rating instead of a 5. This is a very small shoe and you might need to get a full size larger than you normally wear. The grip of the soles feels good, and the rubber is showing no signs of wear yet. I think they will last me awhile. I've had several pairs of LL Bean comfort mocs and I feel this is going to be as good a shoe as the mocs.

Form Follows Function
In the past I’ve always depended on LL Bean for quality shoes and styling. I’m not sure what buyer they are trying to attract but their styles are not practical or functional. They have a cheap look and feel. As a result, I’ve turned to Rockport and selected Sketchers for shoes that feel better, hold up longer, and have a more practical style.

Tight Fit
I bought the right side but the shoe does not breathe. The fabric is tight when it looks like it expands. I have to wear the thinnest sock or no sock. Without a sock, the fabric scrapes the top of my foot.
