Rated 5 out of 5 by Pasha from Just like an adult boot I bought these and another well-known brand to see which was a better fit for my 4-year-old, who loves hiking. These looked more like real hiking boots (especially the ankle cushioning), and were actually wider than the other, which came in a wide width. The boots have excellent traction, and seem comfortable for my son. He is just growing out of a size 9w shoe, and these in a 10, with thicker socks, fit okay. I wish they came in half sizes, and wide widths, too. The better a hiking boot fits, the better the traction and comfort. Nevertheless, these seem to be the best of what's out there. I'll be buying again when he outgrows these.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Mickey330 from Good boot for kids I thought the photos were mixed up similar to other reviewers, so I called Customer Service to make my order. The rep said that the Marine blue is really dark with yellow laces and the Dove gray has gray accents below a blue top. It turns out the photos are correct, it’s just the names that are a bit odd. We ordered the Dove gray because we wanted the blue top ones. I thought the blue was too bright but my daughter liked the color so all is well. She’s only worn them on 2 hikes so far but they seem to be a good kid’s boot. My daughter’s only complaint is that they make her feet too warm, but it is summer time now. Should be good the rest of the year.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Aymster from Awesome boots! I purchased two pair of these boots for my 7 and 9-year-old boys who are very active. I had purchased two pair of high quality hiking boots from another store and my boys didn't like them at all. I returned those boots and purchased these. The boys loved these boots right away. The fit was great and both boys tell me they are comfortable. It is a cool rainy day here in Minnesota, and the boys have been outside playing with these boots on for three hours now with no complaints. They are looking forward to wearing them on our trip to Wisconsin and Duluth next weekend, when we will be doing some hiking.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Brooklynforever from Excellent hiking boots for kids We bought these boots for our three daughters two years ago. We bought new pairs this summer. The girls are ages nine and seven and seven. Our eldest daughter tells me the boots are very Comfortable after a full day of hiking. She says the one downside is that if you don't lace them properly your feet might slide forward and crunch your toes. They are also waterproof. The girls walked through every mud puddle they could find. Their feet were still dry at the end of the day. We have hiked in the Adirondacks and in the Catskill Mountains with these boots. The boots go great with smart wool socks.

Rated 5 out of 5 by ShopsPractically from Comfortable, fun colors, good support, lightweight These boots needed little break-in, which is nice. They do run a little narrow in the toebox--don't expect to wear thick hiking sox. I am an adult female who wears youth size 5. (I wear kids' shoes because they tend to run wider in the toebox and narrower at the heel. I have a hard time finding shoes that fit in adult sizes.) These are light and were comfortable from the start--once I changed to thinner sox. I am a light hiker, around two hours on a grassy/rocky trail, usually, three or four times a week. I am concerned that they were not designed for my weight--I am not overweight for an adult, but probably am if I were a child. So, they may have to be replaced, often, but I would definitely buy these again.

Rated 4 out of 5 by UTKMW from Seem to be sized differently These are great boots. They keep the feet warm and dry, but they seem to run small now. My son has the shock mocs in a size 4, and the Bean's Multisport Sneakers in a size 4. Both fit him comfortably with wiggle room. We bought these boots in a size 4 and his toes go to the very end and the boot is too tight. We had these same boots in a smaller size earlier this year and they seemed true to size at the time, meaning he was in the same size 3 versions of these boots, shock mocs, and multisport sneakers all at the same time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by CarrieLiz from Boys hiking boot This is the second pair of hikers I have purchased. I have a small shoe size and the boys size 4 fits perfectly. Unfortunately on my last pair the stitching let go and I can no longer wear them in the winter. The tread, etc, is still good, but needed a pair I could wear in the winter. These boots are perfect for me. I work as a cashier on a concrete floor. The tread gives excellent support and keeps my feet from aching or hurting. I have weak ankles from ice skating as a kid and get extra support there as well. The overall value, styling and support from these boots is the best. When these wear out, I will buy another pair. I absolutely love LL Bean products. You just can't beat them.

Rated 4 out of 5 by BrooklynBean63 from Took 3 attempts to get the correct size These look like really nice boots and I hope they last, but it was frustrating having to purchase and exchange TWICE before getting the right size. My 11 year old wears a size 3 in most shoes and he measures a size 3 as well. Before purchasing the boots, I checked the LL Bean sizing guide. It instructed to outline the foot on a piece of paper and measure from the heel to the longest toe. In doing so, my son measured a size 2. Figuring they run big, I still went with the size 3 so he would have room to grow. The 3's were really tight, so I exchanged them for a size 4 - which according to the sizing chart should be huge on him. The size 4s were also too small. His toes were right up against the top. So we exchanged again for a size 5. They fit! Not a lot of room, but ok. So, he has a closet full of size 3 shoes and ONE size 5 from LL Bean. Sizing chart or the shoe is definitely off.
