Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not durable I have owned probably many many pairs of these socks in rag grey over the past twenty or thirty years. I have found that they are sturdy, warm and comfortable socks and they are my go to everyday socks around the house. HOWEVER the last batch I have owned and purchased over the past 3 to 5 years wear out quickly at the heel and I have discarded most of them. I am referring to the grey rags. I have replaced them with the charcoal rags which have not so far worn their heels out, but are not as soft and comfortable as the grey rags. I notice that the grey rags are not being replaced. I have been waiting to order fresh ones since before Christmas.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not like the good old days I have been buying variations of these socks from LL BEAN for 30-40 years. Originally they were about 90+% WOOL. These were very warm. Over the decades the socks became less and less WOOL and less warm. They also began to last LESS and LESS. The HEELS get holes in them long before the sock is ready for the TRASH. I could fill at least 2 or 3 pillow cases with these socks that I have bought over the years. The main reason I like them is because they are THICK and pad my feet like no-other SOCK on the PLANET. The main reason I don't like them is because the don't last as long as they did "in the good old days." My latest pair lasted only for 4 uses before they sprung a hole in the heel. Usually the socks slowly thin out on the heel and then the fibers separate.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super Comfortable Socks That Keep You Warm & Dry I’ve been buying merino wool LLBean socks for a few years now and I’ve noticed that these are pretty much the only socks I live in every winter now. To put things in perspective, I live in Georgia and when the colder weather finally (and I mean FINALLY) sets in, I pull out my Bean boots, Bean mocs, wool socks and flannel shirts and live comfortably ever after, usually from November to March. Yes it’s the south, but it gets cold here too. So although you boil your bits off in the summer, you can also freeze your bits off in winter. And these merino wool socks are awesome to have in your wardrobe. They’re super affordable (especially when there’s a sale) and the selection they offer is great as well.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not so great I purchased these on sale last year, they come in a set of two. I wore them for the first time recently and one of the heels wore out! I kept feeling cold on my foot and thought they had gotten wet. How could a thick pair of socks that were kind of spendy have a hole in them after wearing them for a day? When I discovered the hole I was so disappointed....I don't know how these would stand up to every day wear when I only wore them around the house for a day and they got a hole in them....They are warm but I won't ever spend this much money on a pair of socks again.....Very disappointed in these

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great socks for cold weather I bought these for my almost 13-year-old son and he loves them! They are very comfortable and warm. My son takes them often to bed, though he sleeps with no top! He claims they keep him warm and that's enough. The socks are thick, slightly bulky and sometimes cumbersome when putting shoes on. He staunchly defies wearing footwear other than running shoes, so maybe the thick wool socks are a good compromise for NC winters??? Towards the end of second season, we decided to buy them again, as he grows by leaps and bounds now; this time size L (in men's) instead of M, and 12'' tall. We are happy with this LLB product!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Warm, but Wear Out Quickly Seems like my feet are always cold in the winter, so I've tried many types of wool socks. These are among the warmest. But unfortunately, my two pair both wore out after just a few washings. Each of the socks now have several holes in the heels, and they are very thin in that area. Usually if I have wear problems in socks, it is in the ankle area, but never happens as quickly as with these Ragg socks. Won't be buying these again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful socks! These socks are the ultimate in comfort. The fit is great, they're warm and cozy (my feet are always cold), and even though they're wool, they're not itchy (at least not for me, and I have sensitive skin). Love the color, too. Great value, all good, no complaints. I put these socks on and the sun shines through the clouds. Happy feet, happy life.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from best ever I live in Northern Ontario and drove to a store in New York State to go to LLBean. I bought two pairs of these socks and the Border Guard might have thought I was crazy to drive so far for a pair of socks, but they are the best ever. I love them so much I am going to order more. In fact, I am wearing them now and they are so warm and comfortable. I looked around stores in my area and although I found socks made from Merino Wool, they just aren't the same quality. Well worth the cost and the drive.
