Rated 5 out of 5 by NC2IA from Great for Skiing I bought these before a ski trip. My feet stayed warm and my shins were not sore from the downhill ski boot. They were also great for hiking and keeping my lower leg warm when we went snowshoeing. Great foot comfort, and the fit was snug enough that the sock did not move around while layered with other socks. The shank of the sock is stretchy enough to fit over long underwear pants without being too tight. I have laundered them multiple times through both the washer and dryer, and no problem whatsoever. Love the purple color! Planning to buy more for the upcoming winter season.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Daniel84 from Most comfortable sock that stays in place I really like these socks. They fit exactly to size and they fit below my knee's. I have rather large calves and so these are the only winter sock that will fit over my calf and stay fit in place. The only problem is that they don't seem to hold up for more than a year (may 18 months max) They do not stretch out during this time but they wear out and create holes on the sole. I would think for the price they should last longer give I wear them during fall and winter months in NJ, and I don't place them in the dryer at all.

Rated 5 out of 5 by HappyhumanBean from Happy Feet After purchasing a few pair of Bean Compression Socks recently,I saw these. I wondered how these long socks would compare. Calf Length is the same, the fit is snug, but not like the Compression Socks.( Understandable by the Key Word COMPRESSION! ) However, thought they might be great for the winter. Not a skier, but tried these socks with a number of boots I own. The fit was comfortable, nice cushion to the sole, & the workmanship seems adequate for long life? I ordered the " CAYENNE " COLOR and truly it's "HOT!" Can't personally comment on the warmth, I suppose they will be fine however based on the other reviews though.Reason for the 5 STARS !!

Rated 4 out of 5 by wildcatsinmanhattan from wool socks I had been searching for socks for a ski trip, and our travel agent said to get wool. I have been buying LL Bean wool socks for my husband for many years, since he works outside in the winter. These were very warm and very cushioned, a bonus while wearing uncomfortable ski boots. I wear an 8 1/2 shoe size, and got the medium. They are quite thick, so your winter boots might fit tight over them. I would have liked them to be a little more "fitted", like my compression socks, but really, the point is warmth, and they are extremely warm.

Rated 4 out of 5 by CruzinMC from I love my new socks! I love my new Bean ski socks, and I love the colors I got. They've kept me nice and warm when I'm out for a couple hours at a time wheeling in my manual chair, and although it's only fall the cold has set in early this year. There's only one reason I didn't give these five stars. My Navy striped pair fits me perfectly, but the pear I got in night-blue Heather is really binding at the top where the logo is. So I find it harder to get that pair up over my big fat calves. FYI, I'm a short woman with size 7 feet, but I got a guys' large because I have wide legs. So even though I'm so short, the guys' large was the right size for me. I'll be buying another pair of the Navy striped ones soon.

Rated 5 out of 5 by BEGBEW from Perfect for what I need I require heavy socks, especially in the cool and cold seasons. I have poor blood supply to my toes and they turn white and very very cold. These socks keep my toes warm during the cool and cold seasons. I have to buy a 1/2 to 1 size larger shoe than I normally need depending on width, and the socks fit nicely in my shoe. I would recommend them to anyone who gets cold feet, and especially cold toes. I rate these as a very strong 5.

Rated 5 out of 5 by GDWeaver from Warm Socks I actually wear these ski socks for everyday use. Walking to work in 0-degree temps, I need something warm, and these knee-highs are perfect. They do not slide down during the course of the day and I am on my feet all day. They are soft and thick but fit well in my shoes, sneakers, boots. Bought 2 pair and glad I did.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Palouse from Great protection for the shins I use the socks for downhill skiing and they provide ample padding for the shins. Other socks were not tall enough so the ski boot would rub on the bare shin skin. These socks are a bit too tall, as they reach almost all of the way up to the knee pit, but that is better than being too short. I got the stripped navy socks, the white color bands are not as thick as the other colors so there is an inconsistent rib feel to them, almost annoying enough to take a star off of the rating but I did not since the rest of the sock is good.
