Rated 1 out of 5 by Phaedra102 from Disappointed in latest sweater style I bought this sweater for my mother as a Christmas present. She has numerous colors of this sweater with the cable all around (the sweater) dating back to 2010. Well, she opens and it tries it on and it fits lousy. Also, the newest style of sweater does not have the cable all around, only in certain areas. You can also see through the sweater knit. Fast forward, to yesterday, took my mother to LL Bean in Burlington, MA to pick out another color. Same issue and she is very disappointed. Bring back the style with cable all around the sweater. It was made well and heavier.

Rated 5 out of 5 by beetlefan from Nice cotton sweater I've been eyeing these sweaters online for months and finally went to the LL Bean store in Denver (CO) to try one on. I'm glad I did because I tried on two (teal and basil) and they both fit a bit different (the teal was a tinge smaller than the basil). I can wear a L or XL in LL Bean tops and shirts, depending on how they run (XL if I want roomier) and decided the Basil XL was the winner. Actually, the store was chilly so, while browsing the other fantastic merchandise, I continued wearing the sweater, tags and all. So if there's a sale coming up, I'm ordering another one of these. So soft, not overly warm but a good layering garment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by rosalindr from Great sweater, and it shrinks to fit I bought this sweater in Women's 2X, but it was very big on me. I lost some weight recently but thought the 1X would be too small. It turned out the 2X was way to big. The laundry instructions say to wash in cold water, reshape and dry flat. You should do that if you want to keep its original size and shape. I washed in hot water and dried in a hot dryer, and it shrunk down to fit me perfectly. The sweater is light weight and perfect for fall temperatures. I bought it in yellow or "Butter," which is one of the discounted colors. It is a light shade of yellow and goes well with darker colored skirts or slacks. I'm very happy with this purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Azil from Have two I love the sweaters. I had one along time ago and the sleeves always got very stretched out. This new style does not get stretched out. I have two and I’m waiting on one that was on backorder. These do not look dowdy like some of the other clothes from L.L. Bean do these days. Sometimes the styling of the clothes these days does not sit well on my body. However the sweaters are very nice and high quality. I weigh about 115 and I am 5 feet and I ordered the petite small and the fit is a little loose Hopefully they won’t shrink much when I wash it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Kcarlisle1 from Needs pockets I ordered this sweater (in Stone) and the hooded one, and am sending this one back. I didn't think it would make such a big difference, but I prefer the hooded one because it has POCKETS. I can carry my phone and keys around, and still have room for my hands. I don't even want the hood, because sometimes that's uncomfortable under a coat. But I'm keeping the hooded one because the pockets are so convenient, not to mention great for keeping my hands warm if I'm walking outside. Also, the Stone color is definitely more beige/taupe than cream, just FYI.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Kmd65 from Mixed experience of sweater I absolutely love this sweater and own five of them ..However, my main concern is the way it is made. Black one zipper broke after several earrings. Since black one I'd no longer sold, I bought a new zipper and now find. I just bought a beautiful striped one with various shades of blue. I had only worn it a couple of times but a friend noticed yesterday when I went to put it on, that the part between the collar and the sweater was full of holes. So my friend sewed it for me. For sweaters of this price, the shoddiness of how they are made deeply concerns me. This is especially true because I love this sweater. Lastly, I returned my navy blue sweater which was washed several times since I bought it but it faded quickly.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Pattypye from Too small For the first time ever, I am disappointed in a Bean product. I ordered two of these sweaters - white and yellow. I usually wear a small, but ordered medium so I could layer them. I can barely pull the lapels together to zip the sweater and when I do it is far too tight. There are places on the front of the sweaters where the knitting appears to have holes in it; it doesn't, but there are large hollow places in the pattern. The facing on the back side of the zipper will not lay down and when the zipper is open it looks clumsy.

Rated 4 out of 5 by 1Petite from I like these :-) I have 2 in this style (black and stone), and 1 hoodie (navy). I just wish this style had pockets like the hoodie does (that's why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5). Seems to be good quality so far - holding up well with machine washing and laying flat or hanging to dry. One thing about these is that the sleeves feel a bit snug after washing. But they easily stretch out again (usually I hand stretch the sleeves a little before putting my arms in the first time). No problem getting the sleeves on over shirts, however, even if I don't pre-stretch them.
