Well made, sturdy vest. It fits as expected. I am a medium but I need to be able to wear over layers and a sweatshirt so I purchased a large. One minus is the zipper locks too well and I struggle every single time to get out of the vest and I am putting it on and taking off three times a day.

The Warmest!
Love it! Do not want to take it off and have worn it almost every day since I got it. I am a cold-natured Texan; the vest keeps me warm, whether it is 50 to 60 degrees or whether it is below freezing. Even in the house it takes off the chill. The fit is true to size, but roomy enough to accommodate a thick sweater underneath. I am on the cusp between M and L and weigh about 137; I’m glad I ordered the medium. I’ve had no trouble with the zipper—it’s just a matter of aligning the top and bottom part of the two-way zipper pull. This vest is by far my very warmest, even counting other down vests.

Older version of this vest is so much better!
I purchased this style vest many years ago and it is still my "go to" when running out the door. The older version outer shell is nylon, which makes it light weight and thin, yet warm. It has side snap belts that give it shape and it washes beautifully. This newer version of the waxed cotton is bulky, boxy and not flattering. It's too expensive not to love it. I returned.

Fits true to size but tight around hips
This vest is excellent for keeping warm and a great layering piece to own. I do wish it was shaped a bit more for a female form, the hips area is a little tight when fully zipped but if I sized up it would be too loose around the waist and bust. The color is a dark roasted coffee bean brown, it can appear black from far away especially if you aren’t wearing any black with it. The color and gold buttons make this vest look very luxurious. The waxed cloth is a stiff sturdier fabric and the vest is weighty. All the pockets are a delight but really only the side pockets are most useful since the front pockets are a bit too small for gloves or a phone and awkwardly placed for every day use anyway. They’re more for looks and the event you need to throw a Chapstick or tissue in a pocket and you don’t want it to fall out (the snap button in the front is great for keeping small things in the pocket).

Stylish well made fits great
Fabulous fit and construction, stylish and light weight. Wanted a down vest that was not bulky and too poofy, while being waterproof and windproof. This vest is remarkable and ticks all the boxes. Highly recommend and worth the price.

Awesome Vest
After purchasing the upcountry Waxed Jacket I was able to find this Waxed Vest. I love the both items. This vest is so warm and not cumbersome. You can dress it up or dress it down all the while not feeling overwhelmed with bulk. It has all the pockets that you need without worrying that your items will fall out.

Worth the investment
I looked at this vest several times and finally took the plunge. It’s pricey, but I am always cold and wear vests much of the time to keep my core warm indoors or out. I love this vest! It is all I expected and more. It looks great and has plenty of pockets, including an interior pocket. I will not buy vests that don’t have an interior pocket, and all of my LLBean vests DO have them. I own close to a dozen LLBean vests, and this has become a favorite. For comparison, I am 5’ 6” and weigh 117#. Small vests would fit, but I always buy Medium to accommodate multiple layers.

Gorgeous, Warm, and Comfy, but Fit Needs Some Work
This is a beautiful, well-made vest with all the little details right. But as others have said, a petite offering would be welcome. And maybe some snaps or buckles at the waist instead of the cinches at the hemline. I can't imagine anyone needing to use those since there is no flare to the cut. My medium regular is a bit too long and too wide at the shoulders but I kept it anyway because it feels great to wear.

Wanted to love this and hoped it would have worked - followed previous reviews & sized down. Fit everywhere but spanned the chest - too tight there so unfortunately I returned this item. For reference I’m 5’3” 140 lbs 32F - usually a M in Bean but downsized to S - M was too large all over

A Great Vest!
Love this vest! It says waxed cotton but it is not sticky like other waxed cotton garments. It is warm and I have more arm freedom than with a coat. Arm scythe is large enough to fit my bulky irish knit sweaters without pinching. Nice pockets but the hand pockets are not very deep. Just a matter of adjusting expectations. I am overall very happy with this purchase. Perfect for New Hampshire Fall and Winters.
