Rated 5 out of 5 by from My new best friend(s) for fall/winter Worth the wait (backordered for many months). Wore these on multiple dog walks in the rain/dew/cold this early fall, and they are both dry and warm. Surprisingly easy to get on/off despite the lace-up - the tongue is well designed. No rubs on the heel. Overall 100% worth the price

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great boot - read size reviews/feedback! Love it. Structured, a little taller (more protection), yet soft.. broken in upper leather. Fleece is warm but not overly thick. Sizing comments were helpful, I wear 8.5 regular for dress shoes, 9.5 for running shoes, have slightly narrow foot and ordered size 8. Fits great with room for thick sock.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Best Boots LL Bean boots are the absolute best. As a teenager, I lived in New England, where lots of folks wear Bean Boots. Now I live on the wild coast of Lake Michigan in Wisconsin. Nothing works here like Bean Boots, in every season except the humid days of mid-summer. I have a lasting foot injury, and lace-up boots like these are the best so I can secure my ankles. I have two pairs, a 6-inch version and these. Will wear Bean Boots forever!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Classic bean boot I have had mine for ten years. I am a new englander and Bean boots are my go to. I am in Chicago now and curious do thinsulate liners need to be replaced at some point? I ask bc my feet are absolutely freezing in average Chicago temps of 20-30 degree weather and with wool socks on.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Mainer Great for Maine’s outdoor activities! Wore these hunting during deer season - wouldn’t wear anything else!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fit as billed, beautiful I'm a size 10.5/11 (different feet) and ordered a size 11. I was a bit hesitant because of others' reviews that they run big, but actually they're perfect — if anything a bit narrow out of the box. I will wear these with medium socks. They're also really nice looking. Smell like money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great! Will have these for years to come. Have had for about 5 years so far and still are in perfect shape.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Durable and stylish boots I've worn the same pair of unlined Bean Boots for over ten years now. I decided to finally upgrade to this lined version, and it's been great! The tumbled leather is definitely preferable to the standard leather. It's like they're already broken in! I'm sure I will be enjoying them for many years to come (hopefully another 10+). These keep my feet warm and dry while I'm active outdoors. I also tried on the shearling lined pair and believe those are probably warmer. For me, the shearling was actually TOO warm, and the durability of the Thinsulate Gore-Tex lining better suits my active lifestyle. If you're sitting outside not moving, these boots probably won't miraculously keep your feet perfectly warm. You'll need super socks or toe warmers for that. I'm thinking of adding the shearling liners to mine for some extra comfort. P.S. Mine felt narrow at first, but after a few wears they fit like a glove.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from BEST BOOTS EVER! I have worn Joan of Arc's for the last 7 years. They were warm cute but very heavy especially in snow....I was in the market for a new pair of winter boots and I asked for these for Christmas....BEST CHRISTMAS PRESENT from my Hubs. They are so light and warm I needed no break in time...I was hoping for snow to walk my dogs in them...They are a little roomy but I really don't like to wear socks when I have winter boots on...I definitely have enough room for thick socks if needed. I have to travel to Iowa for work next week (Late Jan-Early Feb) and I plan to wear these daily!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sz8 and bought Sz7 = good fit. These are great...and I love how they are one color [mostly]. The 10" looks better on my leg anatomy than shorter would I think. I shoveled snow in them AND THEY WERE BOMB. It's ideal when the weather sucks to have great shoes...I gave them a year of wear and ordered two more today - both color blocked options...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Waterproof and mud proof So how do you know when it’s time to replace a favorite boot? Do you wait till it falls apart? Do you fall for a new style? Or did they just disapear! I started working in North Carolina as a forester 30 years ago. I got a great deal on my Bean boots and bought a pair. I moved to Southeast NC to work at another district. I loved having my boots they were a favorite for walking cut overs and for checking tree planters when it was wet. I was working on the NASA shuttle recovery on a search team in Nacogdoches Texas and called home to see if I could get my boots shipped out to the search camp. They couldn’t be found! My feet stayed wet the entire time in Texas! When I got home I searched but never found them. In 30 years I moved 9 times so I’m not sure when they vanished. I’ve since retired and am now working for a non-profit helping landowners reforest and restore longleaf pine. So after more than 30 years of walking the woods it’s time to pick out a new boot! Wow there are a lot more options.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just “ok” These are very Lovely boots, I purchased them for “Style” I was unfamiliar with the sizing and purchased the women’s size 9 at first but they were floppy so I sent them back to get an 8 and they were okay but not the look and feel I was going for and still looked and felt huge but not the fit just the “Feel” They were TTS but still didn’t suit me so I sent them back. I do recommend these especially when it’s always rough weather!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sizing I purchased these for my daughter. Using the recommended "buy one size smaller" resulted in returning them for her true size "7" which fit correctly. ps - she loves them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid, amazing boot I am a 9.5 and I bought a 9. I love, love, love these boots. Worn it around town, in the woods, in the snow, in the rain. Great shoe. Would recommend to all. The tongue wants to roll/bunch up around the ankle area (where the foot goes to leg), but I just push it down and pull the laces tight one by one over it. It helps keep it down. My mom found this annoying on her boots, but it doesn't bother me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome boot, the absolute best to have in winter My mom has had Bean boots the whole time I was growing up, so I was familiar with the styles and durrability. This winter I realized I didn't have any cold-weather boots. I looked around at many many different styles, prices and brands and finally I came back to this LL Bean boot. I 100% trust this brand and when it arrived soon after purchase, I immediately started wearing it almost every day. At first the liner seems wrinkled (straight out of the box), but when you put your foot inside the liner is perfect and secure. I walk about two miles in this boot daily and it's super comfortable the entire time. I can wear thin or thick socks and walk through drifts and not feel a thing, entirely waterproof. Usually I wear a 8.5 in sneakers, so I bought an 8. I also got the 10" so that I could work in the snow, tuck in pants etc and not get snow down the top which is the Bean boot's only weakness. Additionally, the tread is durrable and sticky - I have grip always, even when everyone around me is slipping. But yet, indoors, the tread does not squeak. I got this boot during a sale, but the original price is so good for the quality, this boot is worth it. It will last you decades. No joke.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for Trails in the rain After years of cold feet with cheap boots, I bought these. Worth every penny! My feet are warm and dry on the trails! The fit is perfect with medium weight socks.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love them. At first I was concerned because the Thinsulate seemed unsmooth [not quite bunched] but it flattened out with wear. They are warm and stylish...I like the 8" boots on others but for my leg shape, I feel I needed the 10". I'm typically a 7.5/8 in flat shoes...8.5 in running shoes as I like space...the 7 has plenty of space. My feet are narrow so I wonder how hospitable they'd be for a wider foot...is that why people size up? I've wanted Bean Boots for years and I'm so glad I took the plunge...at the behest of a friend with a coupon! In KY we tailgate and have real winter...these were totally needful...and having had Sperry boots before these - these are worth the extra expense! If you're unsure - buy them! :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Early Purchase I bought these boots recently to avoid any backordering closer to winter. I work outside, and will continue to do so all through winter, and I'm one of those people who are always cold. After reading dozens of reviews, I decided to give these a try, and I'm glad I did. I ordered my TRUE boot size, and they fit perfectly. They are also comfortable straight out of the box, and I am confident that I made the right choice for this winter. Side note for those of you who are concerned about packaging: there was no plastic in my shipping - everything was cardboard and paper which are easily recyclable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great boots I really needed a warm, waterproof boot as I was using my regular Bean boots with warm socks; that just wasn’t cutting it this year with the colder temps. I looked at dozens of boots and brands, and everything was big and clunky. (Full disclosure here-I ended up getting the men’s boot as the women’s in my size was not in stock at the store) I wanted something to wear in all three seasons and be able to snowshoe in as well as go to NYC. I couldn’t be happier! Snow, wet, mud - nothing has been an issue. I was out yesterday in 20 degree weather for 3 hours walking with a class in the mud and yuck and was toasty warm the whole time. I sit in my office where I swear there is a hole in the wall that funnels in cold air-no problem there, either. They will take a little bit to break in, but what boot doesn’t? Love these boots and they are worth every penny!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from warm and dry Finally a winter boot that keeps my feet warm AND dry! I no longer fear icy puddles of sludge that will wreck my day. The height is perfect---short enough I can slide them on and off with ease but tall enough I can navigate a snow bank without snow falling into my boot.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stylish for a winter boot! I love the look if these boots compared to most winter boots (less bulky, more stylish, etc.) - and they are still warm! I have been wearing them with a pair of wool socks and they do great! I did have to put some toe warmers in when we were snowmobiling, but it was a long trip/very cold so I won’t discredit the boot too much! I shovel in them, walk in the snow with my dogs, etc. Always waterproof, and warm 90% of the time with 1 pair of wool socks! Some people have mentioned that the white lining pops out - yes a very small bit (doesn’t bother me).

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Fit well, not warm!! I wear an 8 1/2-9 and ordered an 8. I really wanted to love these Gor-tex/thinsulate boots for NYC winters. Unfortunately, they are not warm! Therefore, I wore 2 layers of socks (L.L. Bean camp socks and 'cozy' shearling socks), in addition to leg warmers- still not warm. :( Reference: Temperatures ranged from 9°-25°F.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hands down a superb boot I purchased these boots in July as I did not know the turnaround time at LL Bean for boots. It is just about time to break them in and I have to say that adding the Gore-Tex was a brilliant idea and a comfortable one also. I also have the Maine Hunting shoe without lining and that boot will travel with me for many years. It is very different than the traditional Bean Boot in that it lacks bulk and is narrower to fit a woman's foot. It is also quiet when walking the trails. That is a nice feature when you are eager to see wildlife yet I fear it may be a liability if bears are in the woods. This has been an up and down year for LL Bean boots regarding availability but I do believe that I was able to purchase the ones that I really wanted to try out. I don't believe that Bean has changed the Maine Hunting Shoe very much so I know it is a dependable product. This has always been a favorite boot for me and I hope it will be for you too. Beautiful leather with nary a blemish and soft as silk. Low maintenance if you clean them once you take them off. Leather's worst enemy is letting mud, etc. sit too long which causes an early demise.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LL Bean Boots To anyone that has a pair of Bean Boots you know they are the best ever. I have a pair over 20 years old and they do not leak in mud, snow, water or goo. The only reason I ordered these is to replace a pair my Golden Retriever puppy decided to eat the tops off of. To her defense I left them available :) They are true to fit, are comfortable, last forever, can be resoled and are LL Bean Boots!!! Enough said.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Awesome boots! These boots look great, are warm and comfortable. The only thing that keeps me from giving them 5 stars is the lining, which seems to be too big for the boot and when folded in, digs into my leg.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Did not hold shape I love LL Bean as a company and was beyond excited to get these very nice boots to replace a similar style fashion boot, not a technical boot, I had from a different brand. However, the boots started sagging around the ankles within a few uses! It looked like I had cankles no matter how thin of socks I wore or how tight the laces were. They were the same height as my previous favorite pair of boots that I wore out but because of the material or cut, they did not wear in as well as my old boots. The sole also wore out very quickly. I returned the boots and am hoping to find a different style of snow/rain boots to give LL Bean another chance.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Unfortunately misled by sizing I ordered my boots in October of 2016 and received them in February of 2017. I was excited about the idea of a pair of winter boots that would last me forever, be super warm for our super cold and snowy winters and be less bulky then Sorels to wear out and about in town. I love that they were made by hand in the USA out of high quality materials. I instantly recognized their excellent quality as soon as I opened the box. I spent months reading reviews and speaking with customer service about warmth and sizing because these boots aren't very affordable (but the quality is worth it) and take forever to get because they are handmade, (again worth it) I wanted to be absolutely sure I was getting the right style and size. I always wear a size 8, in every pair of shoes I own and have tried on. So I ordered a 7 as the webpage as well as customer service suggests. Even with thin socks they were way too small and I'm sure the 8 would have been perfect. I was pretty disappointed and needed boots, so I did not exchange them but just returned them. Such a bummer because they were beautiful boots! PLEASE order your true size! Hopefully L.L. Bean will update the sizing recommendations for these boots on their site.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pair#3? I received these boots for Christmas 2005- to replace my unlined duck boots that were 11 years old. I normally wear a size 9.5 so I ordered a size 9- I wear them with pair of light to mid weight socks with a heavier ragg wool sock over..if I wear pants, I tuck them into the ragg wool sock. It was tough to get my foot in and out the first season, with the insulation of the boot- especially around the ankle... after that first season, they were fine. I have had them resoled once, and am debating on doing it again if I can figure out how to clean the insulation liner. I have been extremely happy with these boots, but wonder if I should upgrade to a warmer pair. The winter has become increasingly colder here. The current pair I own is the 3rd pair of bean boots I have had consecutively over the past 35 years. I love the quality of LLBean. Thanks!
