Difficult Sizing but Excellent Boot
This review mainly deals with sizing between women’s and men’s boots. I ordered the men’s to start with due to the wait time on the women’s boots which were backordered.
I usually wear a women’s size 10.5-11 in boots.
A men’s 9 usually fits me as well.
My foot measures: 10.56 inches with a width of 3.68 inches
My calf is about 12.5 inches at where the top of the boot hits.
To try and figure out what size would fit me best of this boot:
I ordered the women’s size 10 and the men’s sizes 9 Narrow, 8 Narrow, and 8 Regular. I wore one medium-heavyweight weight wool sock in these trials.
The Men’s 9 Narrow was too big all around (length, calf size, width) and felt really clumsy on my foot. It was hard to crouch in them and hurt my foot. My foot also moved around too much and I could not tighten the laces tight enough.
The Men’s 8 Narrow fit well everywhere except in the toes where it was a bit too tight near the ball of my foot.
The Men’s 8 Regular fit well in the calf (it could lace up tight and still have room for adjustment) . The length and width felt comfortable as well. Length wise, there is about a thumbs width of room (about 0.75 of an inch. ). It fit the best out of all these options. It is comfortable on my foot and my movement does not feel hindered. As other reviews have stated: sometimes the boot fits too tight right out of the box. Wear it around the house for an hour to break it in a bit before deciding it is too small. The men’s 8’s originally felt too small but after wearing them for a bit around the house they loosened up and fit much better.
The Women’s 10 felt too loose on the heel and didn’t lace up tight enough on the calf (I could tighten up the laces all the way and it still wasn’t tight enough). My foot moved around too much in the boot. The length and the width of the toe box felt similar to the Men’s sz 8 Reg though.
In the photos the Men’s sz 8 regular boot is on the left and the women’s sz 10 is on the right.
I could not tell any visual difference from the Women’s to the Men’s boots.
The boot is well constructed and of quality material. It has been quite tedious to try and find a boot to fit me and I still don’t feel like the Men’s sz 8 Reg is a perfect fit but it is comfortable and performs well as an outdoor boot. I wanted something that would keep my feet warm and dry during the colder months while not hindering my ability to maneuver through the woods and this boot is up to the task.

great boot
I love the rugged look of this boot, and the longer shaft. It fits true to size and it's super comfortable. These are lined, which makes them warmer than the traditional bean boot. My only complaint is that the white lining of the tongue peeks out at the top a bit. I've included a pic of what I mean. This is pretty picky, though - overall I love them, and would buy more in other colors if they were ever produced.

Awesome Boots!
I had just received my boots when we got our first taste of winter in November – the boots were fabulous, my feet stayed warm and dry during several hours of shoveling snow. Yesterday we got our second taste of winter – it was extremely wet and the footing was not good, but the boots were (once again) fabulous! I did not fall or slip while the drive and sidewalks were shoveled. When I got in the house, my feet and lower legs (where my jeans were tucked into the boots) were the only dry areas due to the driving sleet and rain. I absolutely love these boots. I wear them in the snow, ice, rain and they are remarkable. I love that I don’t slip and I can feel what is underneath my feet.
The only drawback for me would be the boot laces, but I can change those out to ones that don’t cut into my fingers when I am trying to tighten them to tie.

The best winter boots I've got
Living in the Pacific Northwest, we get a fair share of rain in the late fall, and winter, and as an avid mushroom "hunter", I really appreciate a pair of good winter boots. They are so comfy that require no break-in time. Putting them on can be a hassle due to the shaft height and lacing, but given what they bring me after they are on my feet it is well worth it. I cannot wait for the next mushroom season to arrive!

Praise and a little critique
These are the best winter boots I have ever owned. I live in Vermont and have owned Sorels previously--These feel just as warm and waterproof, without the clunkiness. I love that the quality is amazingly good and that they came from an ethical, American factory. I bought my true size (8.0) even though the site advises you not to. They fit quite well, but slightly big in the toe. Even with the roomy size, however, these boots are hard to take off. The thinsulate layer slides out with my foot and bunches up. It's pretty annoying but worth these boots are worth the effort, in my opinion.

Too Narrow
These boots were absolutely gorgeous, and I was super excited to receive them in the mail. Unfortunately, although they are an average fit, they were far too narrow at the ankle for my foot to even get into them! I have rather high arches, but my feet are not that wide. My toes could get in, but my arch got caught at the ankle.
Thanks to L.L. Bean's great exchange policy, I was able to take these in to the store and get a pair that did fit. Unfortunately, they were all out of every other women's boot in my size! So I had to get a men's version to fit. This is mainly unfortunate because men's boots aren't as feminine looking, and feel a little too bulky for me.

comfortable, waterproof, great fit!!
I have just started wearing these boots. I bought them for winter days that are not too cold, where there is likely be moisture. They feel very good on my feet, M only issue is that there is not enough cushioning beneath my feet. Boot socks may resolve this issue, brutal in all, they are very good boots, very well made. I do not intend to go hunting, ever.

Not what I expected...
This was my first boot purchase from LLBean. The quality of these boots was excellent, this just was not the right pair for me.
Sizing: I wear a Sz 10. The 10 fit perfectly. I could not have worn anything smaller.
Why I sent them back: I did not like the color. Also, there was something funky about the style... I didn't like that the tongue was attached. And, they seemed a little too "guy boots" for me. Perhaps, I will try the shorter tan and brown combo next time. But these went back immediately.

I dont want to take them off!
I love these boots. I spent at least a half hour trying on different sizes and linings at the store to pick the right ones. I have small narrow feet and recently moved to Maine - so I needed all-weather warm boots that I could wear for anything. These are perfect. The thinsulate lining is amazingly warm and comfortable - and the gortex is great for rain or snow. I think the brown is a better look than the standard yellow/tan "bean boot" - these look great with everything. I tried on the boot with the shearling lining too - but it was much too thick and probably wouldn't have been wearable in non-winter seasons. I've also heard that the boot with no lining provides almost no warmth at all.
The lining in mine does shift when I take the boots off, since they fit snuggly. And the tongue in the lining peeps over the outershell of the boot, which I don't love - but that could just be with my pair? I also tend to get blisters with all new shoes - but not with these guys.
Rave reviews - so comfortable, warm, and wearable for anything :)

Love my new boots!
I bought my boots because I always have cold feet when it starts getting cold in the south. So glad I made this purchase. They keep my feet warm and dry and look cute too! Wish they had my size in the taller canvas boot; I would totally buy a second pair!

Cute and warm
Honestly never thought about these boots until I logged onto ll bean. My mom has always been a huge fan and I am too now. These shoes are cute and practical. They are very warm, very similar to snow boots. The are a bit stiff when you get them but after walking in them I believe they will loosen up and almost mold to your foot. Creating a warm but practical shoe. I really want to take them hiking during the cooler months because they are meant for hunting. Overall love the shoe and have recommended to people because I know ll bean stands by their quality of the product so you can never go wrong.
