Product Details

Our legendary Maine-made Bean Boot - beautifully crafted in buttery-soft, gently tumbled leather with a sumptuously soft shearling lining, just like our favorite slippers.

  • For this style, we recommend you order a half size down from your regular shoe size. For example, if you normally wear a size 9, order a size 8.5.

Our unbeatably comfortable lined Bean Boots are the ideal choice when temperatures start to drop. They're lined with the coziest shearling and handsewn right here in Maine - one pair at a time - by expert craftspeople whose technical skills and passion for their work is evident in every pair they make. Warm feet haven't gone out of style in over 100 years - we're betting they won't in the next 100 years either.

  • Waterproof full-grain leather upper is gently tumbled for a remarkably soft, broken-in feel.
  • Waterproof rubber boot bottom keeps feet dry.
  • Lined with the coziest premium shearling for extra warmth.
  • Iconic triple-needle stitching provides long-lasting durability.
  • American shearling lamb fur is dyed and treated.
  • Lace-up design offers a secure and customizable fit. Laces not waterproof.
  • Boot bottom is lined with 200-gram Thinsulate™ insulation for additional warmth.
  • Legendary chain-tread outsole gives reliable traction.
  • Uniquely shaped foot form offers comfort and stability, and a steel shank adds support.
  • Best for rain, snow and colder conditions.
  • Not designed to stay submerged in water.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just what I remembered. I had a pair of these in my youth that had been handed down to me after years of use. The memories of the feel, comfort & warmth from hunting trips of old came rushing back the moment I put one on after nearly 20 years. I love these boots.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Real winter boots for me! American Made! Got these for my winter boots. They are nice and warm for sure. Can’t wait to test them in even colder weather. The best part is they are warm but you don’t overheat when inside with them on. Quality is top notch and love that they are still made in Maine. They fact they can be rebuilt is awesome Too.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not fully lined with shearling Bought these as a Christmas gift and was thoroughly disappointed that the foot lining is fabric with a flimsy rubber insole. The meeting point between the shearling upper and fabric-lined rubber portion is a potential friction point. They look fashionable, but are not going to keep you warm in -20 temps. The web description is misleading, with no mention of thinsulate lining, only indicating that there is a shearling lining. Not worth it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 10” Bean boot This boot is comfortable from day one, warmer than my 400 gram leather boots. The size is a little big but works with a heavier sock. Love them so far. Only thing that may make these boots better is an air bob type sole for traction.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Warm and comfortable for long hikes I live in Michigan and I needed boots that were warm, totally waterproof and not too bulky for long hikes. These are the perfect boots for that. They were comfortable from the beginning - no break-in time required. I have an un-insulated pair that are 20 years old & still going strong. I'm certain my new insulated pair will last longer than me! I love that they are made in in Maine. They even came with a tab that showed who made them (thanks, Emily, great job)!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great customer service These run big ordered size 13 which is my normal size in every boot that I have ever had there was almost 3 inches left in the toe. Called customer service and the worked with me and sent me a size 11 which was good. Customer service was excellent and response was very prompt. Love the boots

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Long overdue I purchased a pair of expensive winter boots 25 years ago. Living in the Northeast I only use them when it’s winter time. They broke down and fell apart. My wife, who has been a long time L.L. Bean customer, said to me do not waste your money on any other boot. Buy these and you will not be disappointed. I must say once again my wife was 100% correct. These boots are soft and comfortable out of the box. I am looking forward to temperatures below 20 so I can get the full affect. I seriously believe I will never buy another pair of winter boots as long as I live and I’m 53. I will say at the local store where I purchased them makes laces if you want. I had the guy make laces 3 1/2 inches longer than what came originally with the boot and it was a good idea.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Christmas gift! My E Texas son relocated to Maine this past fall and soon found out his Ariats were not snow and winter wear! After talking to him, I ordered these boots for his Christmas gift and had them shipped directly to him. They arrived well before the anticipated delivery date, fit perfectly and are now keeping his feet plenty warm and dry!! Thank you so much!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Comfortable and warm! Very comfortable and warm. My husband's feet are always cold and these boots are excellent in keeping his feet from getting cold. They also come in wide widths which he needs. Well worth the money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from If you don't have these, you're lost Took me too many years to find this boot unfortunately. Just a sensational boot! I love slipping them on and leaving them untied, doing my chores, and not worrying about hurt feet. A dream... might need a 2nd pair and not even care

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent - Wide Size Seems Normal Width I have never worn a wide shoe in my life until now. The regular width seems a bit narrow, the wide fits. However, typically I wear a 9.5 in a dress shoe and a 10.5 in an athletic shoe. I'm an athletic build, about 175 lbs, average height, fairly low body fat percentage, so I don't have fat feet. I wear a 9 in a LL Bean with a fairly thick snow ski sock. So, I'd probably go a half size down, especially if you choose the wide size. I believe that's the advice of LL Bean as well. Amazing boot, very flexible customer service. The original duck boot!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome boots! I got these for my husband, and he absolutely loves the quality and comfort of the shearling-lined Bean Boots. I have two pairs of these (brown and all-black), which I wear throughout cooler weather, with a Thinsulate blue pair on the way (could not resist the sale price!). We also LOVE that these are made in the USA. Thanks, LLBean!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exceeded my expectations Hard to have you expectations exceeded when spending $200+ on a pair of boots. I've only owned these boots for one winter but I've seriously worn them. The last two weeks have been cold in Minnesota (averaging -10°F) and the boots have managed to keep my feet warm so long as I'm moving. I've taken them hiking through overgrown snowy woods, long dog walks, and clearing brush and shoveling. These still look like new and feel great. My experience has included the optional shearling sole and I also began the winter having treated the leather with LLB's leather wax. I usually wear a 10-10.5 but I ordered these in a 9. I'll update this review if anything changes but until then, assume everything above still stands. These have been great boots.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from PERFECT BOOT I live in south Texas where it doesn't really get cold or wet but I am older and my feet get cold. I got the boots about a month ago and they have hardly been off my feet! They are the perfect wet weather boot and they keep my feet toasty when it's cold. I also have had a couple of young guys tell me how cool they look. They have the legendary Bean quality and style.. They are rugged and up for any outside task. They are also incredibly comfortable just to wear around the house on a cold day.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Do Not Regret. Worthwhile Purchase of my Life. I'm a woman born with big feet. Five feet and nine and half inches, slender with 12W in women and 11 in men's footwear feet that can never obtain shoes with style. I figured since my feet get cold very easily if the temperature is below 65 degrees, I need to invest in boots that will keep them warm at all times. These boots were IT, no Pennywise. The fur lining insulates as stated, boots are sturdy and reliable, and I can wear them in any weather and they will stand up to the tests of nature. Woman or man, get yourself a pair.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Slippers I was looking for a pair of slippers that I could wear around the house and outside, but with the shearling that I was looking for they didn’t make it anymore. The only thing that had the shearling that I was looking for was these boots, now these boots are my indoor outdoor slippers that’s what they are actually being used for. I wish they would take this Sherling and put it back in the slippers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice to have good boots I'm 62 years old and the last time I had my own good snow boots was probably when I was 21. During that 40 years, when I really needed boots in winter visiting my parents farm in NY they always had something for me. But it snows here in PA too, and sneakers and 1980 vintage army combat boots weren't cutting it anymore. So, I figured a guy ought to have the right to buy a $200+ (on sale) pair of boots every 40 years or so. It comes out to about $5/year. I did by another pair of Bean boots first, very similar to these, but cloth uppers. Very nice boots too, but did not come in a 13 wide which I usually need, so I tried the the 13 D. They were too narrow. I sent them back and purchased these which did come in a wide. These fit very well. With a thin sock they are a just a little loose. With a thick sock they are near perfect. The leather seems to be of excellent quality. We got about 15 inches of snow a week ago and it's still on the ground. I have a German shepherd who likes to hang out in the back yard but wants company. I usually spend about a half hour with her out the twice a day. The whole time my feet are fine. Likewise on our daily 45 to 60 minute walks during which she tracks through a lot of snowbanks. I have yet to feel cold in these boots. Also, they are simply comfortable for walking. All around a high quality toot. As I said, I'm 62. My father will be 92 in a couple months. Even if I'm lucky enough to make it that long, I suspect this will be my last pair of new boots.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Tongue of boot doesn't stay in place Boots are good in the snow. On mine, the tongue of the left boot doesn't stay in place no matter how tight I tie them and just constantly ends up all the down in the bottom of the boot, which lets the snow get in. Since the right boot doesn't do the same thing, it's probably a manufacturing issue with the boot. Keep an eye out.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice, but not as warm as expected I took these boots for a ski trip to Breckenridge, CO. We had a storm one day with about 6-8 inches of snow on the ground. The boots kept my feet dry for the 3 hours I wore them. During those 3 hours, we went on a 45-minute horse-drawn sleigh ride. After about 20 minutes, my toes started to get very cold. The leather part of the boot was warm, but the rubber part felt as if it was immersed in ice water. They still seem to be a good quality boot, but I don't think they will keep your feet warm unless you keep active when it is cold.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from NOT FOR WARMTH The first time I wore these I was sitting in a chair. It was 34 degree. Within a half an hour my feet began to get cold. At the end of the hour my feet were extremely cold. If you want warmth, don't buy these.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great boots, unstable tongue These are great boots, very comfortable and warm. Perfect for walking the dogs in the snow and wearing to/from the office during bad winter weather. Only complaint I have is the tongue always falls off to one side. I always wear them fully laced, so this does become a bit annoying. I plan to have them modified to place a leather loop in the center of the tongue and run the laces thru it to keep the tongue in place. If I’m doing something wrong, please let me know.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great convertible boot I should have listened to the other reviews I read about these boots prior to purchase. They run large. My size range is in between an 8.5-10 for most brands. I originally got a 9 and was very satisfied with the quality of the boot, but I did have to send them back for a size 8. That being said, this is a great product. I’m a mail carrier in Madison Wisconsin and my route has me walking about 7.5 miles a day in the snow. The rubber bottom portion of the boot really lets NO water in. The leather that meets the rubber moistens but the fur lining keeps the water from ever reaching my feet, keeping me not only dry, but warm. I really like the style of the “rolled down” look as suggested by a how-to card included in the box. I didn’t consider this as a point of interest when I was comparing these to other bean boots, but this is how I wear them when I am expecting no snow to walk through. L. L. Bean truly takes quality seriously and it shows in the 10” sterling lined Bean Boot.
