Product Details

An L.L.Bean Boot like no other - expertly crafted in soft, supple bison leather with a distinctive red brick sole straight from our archives.

  • For this style, we recommend you order a full size down from your regular shoe size. For example, if you normally wear a size 9, order a size 8.

We elevated our authentic women's duck boots with soft, distressed bison leather for stand-out style and a red brick sole for a splash of color. Like the originals, each pair is still sewn right here in Maine by expert craftspeople, so you can count on them for season after season of enjoyment.

  • Features brick red sole found on early boots in our archives.
  • Lace-up design provides secure and customizable fit. Laces not waterproof.
  • Iconic triple-needle stitching provides long-lasting durability.
  • Legendary chain-tread outsole gives reliable traction.
  • Waterproof rubber boot bottom keeps feet dry.
  • Premium waterproof distressed bison leather is known for its tough-as-nails grain.
  • Uniquely shaped foot form offers comfort and stability, and a steel shank adds support.
  • Not designed to stay submerged in water.
  • Best for rain, mud and other wet conditions.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love these - great fall/winter boot! I've had these for a year now, and they are really comfortable! I wear a mid-weight sock and use them for the wintertime and slushy/rainy days. I walked for two days for 6+ hours each day and they worked great. They do require some break-in for the bison leather so don't try to wear them all day on first use. These do not have any lining for the top portion of the boot - it's just the raw leather - but since it's a good, thick high-quality leather I don't mind. The tongue is sewn in, but the amount of leather is generous and since it's flexible it is easy to get your feet in - just loosen the laces a lot first. These will definitely last a long time. Thank you!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Nothing fits! I bought a size 7 and they were too big. I bought a size 6 and I couldn’t get my foot all the way in. Another reviewer suggested half sizes, and I agree! Maybe a 6 1/2 would have worked.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Too big, need a half size. had to go a size up because my size not available, that was recommended by some reviewers. Cuts the mud, cool. The right boot dug into my shin so hard that it caused pretty severe pain in my shin for 2 weeks. No such problem on the Left. Weird. Hope it becomes less stiff so I can still use them. Laces not long enough.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Nice boots but not comfortable Nice looking boots but didn't fit and weren't comfortable

Rated 2 out of 5 by from EXTREMELY difficult to put on This is the only LL Bean purchase I genuinely regret making. Because the tongue is sewn in, these boots are almost comically difficult to put on. I loathe wearing these because this process takes at least 10 minutes for me, and I'm flustered and frustrated afterwards. I can count on one hand the number of times I've worn these in two years because it's so unpleasant. In the rare occasion that I do manage to get both boots on, they look fine and are decently comfortable. I purchased these online right before the pandemic and would have returned them if I hadn't been so concerned with those external factors.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from How I learned to stop worrying and love the boot I bought these for my wife. She fought me tooth and nail for the very friviality of them. Now I have to ask her to please not wear them to bed. They are her favourite shoes, her go to’s, her run to the store, or go for a walk first choice. They look good on her. She makes them sexy, they make her practical. It is symbiosis of the best kind. She told me the other day that they make her dream of new adventures. Worth every penny!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bean boot 8 inch bison The boots are extremely comfortable, protect from the elements, and stylish. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a quality boot.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very good look and fit. Very good look and fit. Colors and leather make them distinctive. Very pleased with the purchase.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Slip in rain and snow The boot felt comfortable on my feet even though it was a bit of a struggle to insert. The horrible part is that these soles are NOT SLIP RESISTANT. I slipped the first time on the icy sidewalk and decided I should just wear them in the rain. Well while commuting in them in the rain, I slipped (on meta covered NYC sidewalk) and fell very badly. Thus the reason I am returning.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth every penny This is my second pair. The first lasted about six years. We have a farm and I am outside in all kinds of weather. I have walked though rain, ice , mud and snow. Very happy with the purchase .

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A+ I would recommend these in a heartbeat to anyone looking for a pair of gardening boots! I work in mud and water all day and these have held up very well. Also, the dark surface of the bison leather gets worn a bit over time to reveal the lighter layer which I believe adds a nice aesthetic to the boot. Plan to buy two more pairs soon!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Shaft Slumps My wife bought a pair of these boots for wet weather dog walks. The worked very well, but, after 2-3 walks, the shaft slumped. This created large indents of leather that rubbed my wife's leg raw. She returned them for another pair. Unfortunately, this pair had the same issue. It's too bad, as these are great boots. I have a pair myself, and they do not have the same issue. I haven't seen this issue with others who wear these boots. It's too bad, but they just don't work for her.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Boots So I was sent the boots, so excited.. yet they were sent with no lacings.. they( LLBEAN) finally sent the lacings.. (2 business days—TG) which make it easier to wear.. yes the tongue of the boot is tied to the shoe but after a couple of wears in the boot (lacings included) you’ll love em.. or you’ll just go back to Sperry’s.. either way, you can say you have LLBean boots…

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bean boots Lovin’ my boots. Quite stiff at first and hard to put on but quickly getting softer.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good quality but difficult These are high quality good looking and comfy once they are finally on. Follow other reviews and guidelines for sizing. They are really quite difficult to pull on and take off. As others said the tongue comes down low and tight for waterproofing but makes the hole very tight even for a petite sized ankle. My feet are wide though. I have had them over a year but do not wear them all the time. I feel customers need to know how hard it is so they can make an informed decision. Otherwise they are good quality and attractive. (By the way your review text entry field does not support contractions which is strange since I like to use them and I removed commas too just in case.)

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Painful Love how these boots look on the outside but they are so painful to wear Even with big winter socks I get blisters every time There is no lining on the inside it is just raw leather that rubs the back of heels Considering taking to a cobbler to get lined bc its even more painful to think about throwing away a 150 dollar pair of boots Also hard to get in and out of bc the tongue is sewn to the boot

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bison Bean Boot This boot is absolutely perfect. Comfortable and stylish and after purchasing I now want all the colors and styles. My normal shoe size is a 10 but ended up returning to purchase a 9 and they are a perfect fit. The bison leather is really unique. Love these boots.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Finally have some Bean boots Absolutely awesome boots! Great fit with regular and winter socks. The ideal boot for hiking on muddy trails and splashing around with the kids. Not a single leak and they look great! So glad I have them and love that they're made right here in Maine too!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super cool bison boots Love love love these boots! For sizing, I’m typically 8.5 or 9 - I am a 7 in these, with boot socks, and room still if I were to get thicker socks! The bison leather is super quality and gorgeous. Lots of compliments on these! Hubs did awesome for Christmas

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Boot missed rating The two stars are for the well built gorgeous looking classic llbean. Why so low then? You can’t get the boot ON, tongue is stitched to top! It needs stretch with this design somehow..goring added perhaps?

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Bison Bean Boot I have wanted this boot for years but couldn’t justify the cost. Finally I splurged and was quite disappointed when the boots arrived. The stitching was not uniform around where the leather attaches to the “rubber” on one boot. The inside has no lining whatsoever and is uncomfortable to wear. Luckily I ordered a 1/2 size bigger to accommodate wool socks. Overall I would not purchase these again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from They’ve held up!! I ordered these boots almost 9 years ago for dual use in the rain and snow. I live in Oklahoma so they don’t get heavy-duty use every day of winter, but I reach for them every time it’s raining or snowing. They have remained in great shape after all these years of use!!! If I lace them all the way up to the top, the laces are a little short, so I typically leave the top holes open. I like it better because it provides more freedom of movement. I hope to keep these boots as long as humanly possible! They run pretty true to size so if you plan to wear them with thick wool socks, I’d suggest sizing up if you’re between sizes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Comfy fit, supportive boot, fun look These are fantastic. A bit stiff to start, but I'm very picky about fit - especially around the toebox - and these are roomy and supportive, both. Great fit around the ankles too.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice boots Love them except hard getting on because tongue Is connected to both sides. Hoping getting on will get easier when leather softens

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love but Connected Tongue is Weird Purchased these without realizing that the tongue is full connected on the side to the boots. It makes it awkward to wear them not laced all the way up casually (ie top two eyelets not laced)… I ended up exchanging them for this reason and got the flannel lined instead as the tongue isn’t connected. However would definitely recommend them if you don’t mind the to tie being connected on the sides to the rest of the boot.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great boots I loved the boot but my legs are too fat and I could only lace them up partway. So they are being returned, darn I think they are really nice…

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful Boot Beautiful boot. Perfect fit, I'm a size 8 in sneakers, size 8 worked great for me
Date published: 2021-10-20
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Sizing Narrow. I’m usually a 9.5 regular but a little on the wider side. Size 9 pinched the side of my toes with medium weight socks and had enough but not extra room in the forward toe bed. Good looking, good quality.
