Rated 5 out of 5 by from Maine Hunting shoe I bought these boots for my son as early Christmas present & he was a thrilled with them. He has gotten a lot of things from L. L. Bean.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Please make these without leather! We love bean boots but are choosing not to use animal products any longer. So we’ve purchased our final pair until L.L. Bean makes a pair without leather. Please, please make some with just the waxed canvas. There are are also really high quality versions of faux leather available these days too. Please let us all keep fulfilling our nostalgia and wearing the iconic bean boots!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A boot for all seasons. Last pair lasted 30+ years. When the new pair arrived it was like greeting an old friend who hadn't aged a bit. Can't beat this boot for all seasons.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Cannot be repaired by LLBean. The boots are nice but the stiching between the upper canvas part and the rubber lower part can unravel even after moderate use.. Unfortunately, I was informed by LLBean that it cannot be repaired. So no, I'd not recommend this product.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Include a warranty These boots lasted less than a year. Repairs or a warranty would be nice so I don’t have to buy a new pair of boots every year. Takes months to get a new pair.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Unstable I hunt southwestern mountains. The boots were good on the flats, but uinstable on the mountain side. My foot would roll inside the boot on a steep slope such that the sole would rotate up the side of my foot. I wasn't very stealthy. I tightened the laces as much as could be to no avail. They were quiet on the flat - good for stalkers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bought one size down from my normal 12" perfect Bought for fishing on a boat in Alaska. I couldn't have couldn't have made a better choice. non slip and non marking on the boat. Stayed completely dry and didn't have to worry about rips as in other boots.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from High fashion versus function. These boots were not meeting my needs and I returned them for more supportive and warmer LLBean boots.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hiking with the Maine Hunting Shoe Half way through a ten year section hike on the Appalachian Trail between 1996 and 2006 I ended up with the Maine Hiking Shoe -- an unconventional hiking boot that far surpassed anything I had come across. For the first five years I suffered blisters or wet feet, plus my feet were always hurting by the end of the day. I dreamed at night of walking on gel inserts, but my boots or running shoes would not accommodate another insert. Then somehow I came across the L.L.Bean Maine Hunting Shoe with the waxed-canvas upper. They were light, waterproof, and my size had room enough for a Superfeet insert topped with a Dr.Scholl gel insert. They felt like heaven. During the next five years I never got a blister, never got wet feet, and never slipped off a rock with the boot’s gumshoe sole. In hot weather I used lightweight socks. In cold weather I used wool socks. Years later, after more occasional hiking and building a tiny house deep in the woods, they still are my favorite hiking boots. They haven’t worn out. Someone in Maine in 1912 must have known what they were doing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product, as always. I have not worn these, as they are a Christmas gift. BUT, I have a similar LL Bean pair that I have had for years. Mine have worked well and I know that when the time comes to have them repaired, LL Bean will do a wonderful job of making them like new. This company is a leader in customer service!!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Near perfect only one caveat I’ve been wearing MHS from LL since the 80’s - quality is still unparalleled. If you love this boot you get it. Now with the waxed cotton I’d argue these breathe better when you need these on warmer days. But. When I found out that LLB won’t re-sole the waxed cotton MHS I was disappointed. One of the joys of the MHS is receiving your like new trusty boots back from LLB Repair. Oh well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The LL Bean M.O. - Quality As Usual Great Boots. Size is a little big but wear some thicker socks and they're perfect.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Nice Very comfortable as usual....Wish they still made them in the dark forest green.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not quite as waterproof as advertised I currently work outside in about 90-100 degree weather, and do a lot of spraying with hoses, sometimes walking through puddles and other such. The first day I wore these, unadultered, I thought they were comfortable, if slightly looser than I'm used to. Oddly, they don't rub like I would expect a loose boot to. Quality seems good, and weather considered, they don't get too hot. I did find that they let a little bit of water in though. So, I took Sno-Seal and used a heat gun to make the fabric soak it in, and they're perfectly waterproof now. Best boots I've ever had.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beans are best I wear a size 9 1/2 but ordered size 8 per recommendations. That worked out fine. Fit was good. Kept me dry as well. Good traction too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Okie Dokie Runs a little big. But not bad. Room for thick socks if needed. Wish they made this in a 16”.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great boot These have served me well as my wet weather motorcycle boot. They are light enough to cram into my side bag and wear when needed. Heavy rain on 30 day Canada trip...feet dry. Once a year (Christmas time), I re-wax them as well as my other canvas apparel. I haven’t had a problem. The fact that they are unlined allows me to wear them throughout the year with various sock thickness.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from water tight Nice boot, good alternative to the leather ones that I have since the mid 80's that I had resoled 2 years ago (heel stitching is now coming loose on the leather ones). I wear them every day in our muddy/wet Puget Sound winter. They don't collect mud and clean up easily. Only wish that they came in 12" with speed lacing.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good and bad The boots nice, the bottom shoe part fits perfectly; the top part is too large. I can’t pull the strings tight enough to fully tighten the boots. I’m 6’5”, so I have pretty large ankles.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Southern Forget all the whining reviews, these are the most comfortable boots you will ever wear. Light and dry period. I am an outboard technician and over 50. I stand for 8+ hours a day and either in water while engines are running on a hose or on hard concrete floor. These are my warm weather boots. I also have a thinsulate pair for cold days. I will never wear anything but Bean Boots again. And sizing is just as they describe.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Overall very satisfied Boots run large as stated. For me I'm usually a 10.5 to 11 so I went with the 10's they are perfect with the heavy ragwool socks but too big if I wanted to wear thinner socks. I will survive! I love the look of the waxed canvas and highly recommend them. Honestly if I went with a 9 they would be too small so I would have chosen the 10 regardless. Great boots!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic Winter Boot! Warm and comfortable in the stands for Sunday NFL games and great for sloshing through the slushy parking lot getting in to work with dry, warm feet. Highly recommend!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Canvas Bean Boots I’ve owned a lot of bean boots in the past. I’ve had the tumbled leather, the standard brown leather, the standard tan leather and these are probably my favorite. The weight is much lighter than traditional leather. Way softer out of the box!! I can’t speak for how waterproof they are yet but I’m certain Snoseal will take care of that. Order a full size down. Another great boot by LLBean!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for canoeing Perfect for jumping in and out of the canoe into mud and shallow water. The boots run wide but that leaves room for extra socks in cold weather. The soles are thin making for cold feet if walking in snow.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love them I'm really glad I got these boots. I can wear them thru three seasons, fall winter, and spring and they are perfect. Not too heavy or lunky, keep the water out, and even though they are not lined, if you wear a good pair of socks, they are fine in the winter. I looked at them for a while before pulling the trigger, and now wish I had got them sooner

Rated 1 out of 5 by from very disappointing I live in upstate NY and have been wearing L.L. Bean boots for almost 20 years. I'm sorry to say I have never been more disappointed. I bought these maybe just over a month ago and have worn them maybe 10 times for an hour or so each time. For starters I wear a 9.5, bought a 9 and they are still at least a size too big (my fault for buying them online), second there is NO, ankle support whatsoever, I can't emphasize the word NO enough. I'm honestly shocked L.L. Bean put their name on them. I wore them for the first time this morning where temps are 20 degrees out and we got about 2" of snow. Other reviews claim how warm they are and these are even listed as a "hunting" boot. I'm not sure where you hunt but it's NOT in the Northeast. I was outside for 20 minutes this morning loading our outdoor wood boiler and cleaning snow off my truck and my toes literally hurt from the cold. I would NEVER wear them hunting unless is was turkey season, late May. I'm sorry L.L. Bean but I truly feel that you failed on this product. I really wish I would have sprung for the $250 Tumbeled Leather Shearling Lined boots instead. My fault for cheaping out I suppose and not getting what I really wanted. I won't make the same mistake twice!
