fits me well
Well made for price point. I haven't used it in rain yet but did use it in icy river. Fits me well in the XL at 5'-9" and 215 lbs. It needs a zinger loop on front.

Happy So Far
Got the jacket Tues.tried it on and the fit was great, got a medium, I'm 5' 9" and weigh 165lbs. Went fishing yesterday, no rain so I can't say how waterproof it is. However it was 15 degrees out and along with an under armor cold gear top,a sweatshirt , and fleece pullover, with the jacket I was warm as toast. I rode my mt. bike two miles to fish and the jacket prevented the wind from getting thru.I would give 5 stars if the jacket holds up to rain the way it has to wind and cold.

Nice jacket for the money!
I purchased this jacket for my husband for Christmas. It was true to size, and good construction. It seems pretty short in length, more so when he raises his arms, but he'll be wearing it with chest waders. So, no worries.

Best Wading Jacket I Have Ever Used
Absolutely amazing jacket. Great for wading, fly fishing, and as rain gear. I use this all the time, but especially when I am fishing for steelhead in November on the tributaries of Lake Erie.
This jacket is not super thick (nor should it be as a wading jacket), but it blocks the wind and rain 100%. I normally layer up and run hot as it is, so I prefer jackets that are not very thick. The built in hat brim is great, the chest pockets are deep and hold just the right amount of stuff, the fly holder is perfect for your always used, go to flies and the Velcro cuffs keep any water that might run down your arms out. The zippers have always worked perfectly and the flap that folds over to to protect them has never failed. It also has a net loop that works very well.
And I think my favorite feature is the fact that I can roll this jacket up and make it so compact that I can stuff it into the back of my vest so it is with me all of the time. The fact that it is water/wind proof and is highly portable means I can stay on the water longer when the weather gets lousy because it is ALWAYS with me.
The only thing I would like to make potential buyers aware of is the lack of traditional front hand pockets. This jacket DOES NOT have pockets for your hands. This has never bothered me but felt it was worth mentioning

Emerger II Rain Jacket Lives up to its Billing
I just finished a very wet 4 day fishing trip and had ample opportunity to test the effectiveness of the Emerger II wading jacket. I replaced two other fairly new rain jackets with the Emerger II because they simply failed to keep me dry. I fish throughout the year in the rocky mountain region and we've had lots of rain this spring. You will not be disappointed in this rain jacket for fishing. I found the fit quit good, the cuffs do a great job of keeping under layers dry when you reach into the water, the hood adjustments worked great and the draw strings at the waist helped lock in the warmth. It rained three out of four days on my recent trip to the Bighorn in MT and the wind was a constant companion. I stayed dry and comfortable with temperatures in the 40's. Highly recommend this jacket!

Waterproof, Roomy
Excellent for wet and cool fishing conditions. Wear a 200polartec jacket if cold weather. Rubber lining with nylon outer layer. You will sweat if you wear for extended time in warm weather. Reminds me of rubber and canvas hip waders years ago. Great and plentiful pockets. Velcro patches. I put A-positive patch on one side(we are both the same blood type). I will add a Velcro American flag also. Velcro wrist closure, will not hinder blood flow like elastic band does.
Thank you for a great product.

Wading jacket
Just got it. Definitely waterproof, zippers, pockets, fly patch, net loop all work well. I have not tested it to the extreme, but my guess would be it would be sweaty on a hot rainy day. Works well as a light raincoat around town

Great Value Wading Jacket
This is a great value-priced wading jacket. Fits great with room for layers. Lots of freedom of movement. Great pockets with good edges for hemostats today attach to. This is a much nicer jacket than I expected for the money and has great styling. Waterproof and I like the way the cuffs keep water out as well.

Excellent Wading Jacket at Affordable Price
I ordered XL for my husband and S for myself. I'm a medium sized woman, and the men's size small fits perfectly. This jacket is waterproof and the quality of construction is excellent. It's got all the features I wanted in a wading jacket: short length, two big pockets that can hold fly boxes, places outside the pockets to hang equipment and flies, zippered and lined hand-warmer pockets, a hood with built-in visor, and more. You can fasten the storm collar with soft lining all the way up to your chin. Fabulous jacket for fishing in rainy and windy conditions.
I originally ordered a Medium which was too large for me, and LLBean's customer service was outstanding as they helped me process the exchange over the phone.

Good for fishing and all around use
I've had my Emerger II jacket for almost a year. I wear it in rainy weather in the Winter in Florida and in Summer and Fall in Michigan's U.P.
I have not found it to be clammy, although being non-breathable, this jacket would not likely be comfortable on a hot humid day..
I do have a little trouble keeping the hood from covering my eyes but at least I'm really warm and dry..

Well constructed.
Jacket is very comfortable, repels mild rainfall, acts as a good windbreaker and slows body heat loss. Purchased large size to cover 3-tray chest box. Must experience heavy rain before I give 5 stars.

I bought this for fishing but wear it whenever i'm out in the rain. I like the pockets and the fit is perfect.my only complaint is its clammy feeling it should have a light cotton lining inside that would make it a great jacket

Insurance
I had to laugh, going to meet friends to go fishing for a couple weeks. Saw there was quit a bit of rain in the forecast and had been looking to invest in rain jacket for quite a while. On the way picked up the jacket at the local L. L. Bean store, next to no rain happened during the day.
I will write a proper review in the future. I do not expect to have any situations because of the purchase history we have with L. L. Bean products.
Great products and customer service - Thank You

Nice wading jacket
Is a light coat all by itself. If going out on a cold day, you should wear a sweater or something warm underneath. Would recommend getting one larger size than usual to account for needing something warm to fit this coat over.
Is sealed up well inside the coat, and has (rubber?) throughout, including in the wrists, where you can tightly Velcro them, making them almost if not fully waterproof. Very well thought out coat!

overall a good wading jacket
my old wading jacket is fairly bright, and it's wrist closures leave something to be desired, so I ordered the Emerger II. I liked everything about the jacket except I had concerns about the breathability of the waterproof membrane. I tend to perspire a lot, and while trying it around the house, it did not breathe enough for my needs, so I returned it. I can recommend it, with the warning it's definitely not the most breathable of wading jackets.

Great Jacket!
I bought this jacket just for my trip to Alaska, it exceeded all my expectations. It was raining all day long and it kept me dry and comfortable. The pockets are big enough for all of my bulky streamer boxes too. The only issue I have with this jacket is it's a little short, other than that, I recommend this for any wet weather occasion.

Great Value
Bought this jacket for Fall Salmon and Steelhead fishing, and it worked great. Survived all day in a cold driving rain on a BC Canadian river. My buddies were soaked, but jacket kept me warm and dry, though it doesn't breathe and got warm on some longer hikes. Rubberized sleeve cuffs kept most of the water out when landing fish and big pockets were great for gear or gloves. Zippered front pocket provided safe handy place for car keys. Packs down well and sizing was as advertised.

Emerger II Wading Jacket
Jacket blocks wind real well, kept me dry but just too short for a wading jacket. Can't even put my wading belt around jacket.

Great Jacket
This is an awesome wading jacket especially for the price. Good sized pockets and well layed out. Definitely not as breathable as a Gore-tex type jacket but you won't find a better one in this price range or even for quite a bit more money for that matter. Sizing is spot on.

Not breathable
I returned this item when it arrived as it was anything but breathable. The lining appears to be rubber. It is probably great for keeping one dry, but useless as an outer layer unless one is willing to deal with perspiration issues. I like the look of the jacket and the deep pockets.

I purchased and used this item on a recent trip to Colorado. Was very pleased with the preformance. It never rained while out fishing but the wind was blowing most days and this jacket offered ample protection from the water spray off waves while on my 2 man raft and from the 10-40 mph winds we encountered. My only wish was that I would of had more pockets. But I can fix that on the next jacket I buy.

Great fishing jacket
I purchased this jacket in preparation for an annual trip to the Bighorn. I chose the XL and the fit is perfect. The sizing chart was right on for this product. The size is not extra roomy, but I was able to wear 3 layers beneath (polypro shirt, fleece pullover, Simms down sweater) w/o restricting movement. The wading/waist length is ideal. Pockets are very deep & roomy. The strech elastic in the upper back allows for superior freedom of movement when casting, rowing, or netting. I loved the fully adjustable brimmed hood. It tightened down so there was no blindspots. The jacket is definatey not breathable, but I was looking for the maximum in waterproofing and this jacket fits the bill. Kept me warm & dry on several frigid days. Very compactable & light weight. Oh yeah, and the price for a jacket w/ these features far exceeds the $300 to $400 jackets. I did my shopping and this one was the winner!

Very Nice!
This isn't really what I would consider a "warm jacket" meaning you'll have to still layer with fleece during winter steelheading or in cooler temperatures. I would also caution that because of the construction, if it is warm and rainy, you're likely to sweat a little in this jacket. As for the construction and performance, I could not have asked for a better constructed jacket. Well worth the cost and has the perfect amount of pockets and features for my needs. I would feel comfortable putting this up against more expensive models, however just be cautious of whether you want a "gore-tex" type breathability or not because this jacket doesn't feature this technology and doesn't really breath well at all. You will stay dry and if you need a little extra warmth on days that are moderately cool, this will provide it to some degree.
