Excellent rain pants that run big.
We bought a pair of 4T rain pants online since someone I know mentioned they used them for their kids in that size from 16 months to 5 years old. Well, these definitely run big. My 19" waist, 27" tall, 20lb, 14 month old had to go down to the 6-12 month size -- and it's still loose in the waist! That said, it's perfect in the leg. Also, some folx had mentioned these aren't 100% waterproof but I've had a great experience with them keeping my kiddo dry! Worth the $20 for sure.

Waistband sizing off 12-18mo.
The quality and value of these pants is great, they look awesome, however the waist sizing is way off, I ordered the 12-18mo. and 2T and the 2T waist is actually smaller, the 12-18mo. waist is dramatically larger than any other 18mo. clothes we have and it is not adjustable, just stretch, even rolling the waistband and tucking his raincoat into it, it is still too big.

Will survive the PNW outdoors while butt-scooting
I am beyond happy with these pants. These are the only rain pants I could find anywhere (in store and online) for a 14m baby. I live in the pacific north west with a baby born in December who has spent time with me outdoors nearly daily since he was 2 weeks old. He was (and still is) a butt-scooter instead of a crawler and recently started walking. These pants fit great with room to grow as well as to have thick pants underneath. They have performed beyond my expectations and suit our active lifestyle. They keep him dry in the rain, clean from the muddy dog park, clean from sawdust in the wood working shop and drywall debris at a construction site, and warm as a wind breaker on a cold gusty day at the beach. The butt is still well intact as it has scooted under all these conditions. It’s very quick and easy to hand rinse them in the sink too! No complaints, I highly recommend these and am very happy with the fair price.

Great Rain pants for toddler!
Excellent price and quality for my 2.5 year old son. He is pretty tall and weighs 34lbs. These pants in 3T fit him with some room to grow. These are great for warmer spring days that are wet with snow melting etc. I throw this on over his pants at the playground and playing outside so his main pants don't get wet. Highly recommend

Not waterproof, waist too large
My 18 month old girl is wearing 3T clothes, and the 3T pants fit in length as expected. she is very tall, but the waist was way too big even when rolled 3 times. That wasnt a deal breaker as I simply sewed a couple pieces of Velcro on to make it adjustable like the ankles. What was really disappointing was that after an hour of play outside in slushy snow, mud, and wet grass, the pants she wore underneath were moist. I would say these pants are water resistant. Still, its hard to find toddler rain pants, and it was better than her wearing just regular pants. Will keep them anyway.

EXTEND SIZES, PLEASE!!
I have been buying these Discovery Rain Pants since our Littlest was 12-18 months! We were ALWAYS able to hand down these pants (and jackets, similar review, lol) from older Brother to younger Brother, AND pass them on to friends afterwards! They hold up SO WELL. These pants are also comfortable, fit well (flexible and light over other pants), and keep them dry!
Our Boys are now 3 and 5 and I am so disappointed that I can not purchase these pants for my 5 year old. We always get the jackets, too, and the pair are awesome for puddle jumping and just keep them dry!! The Trail Model Rain Pants are just not the same and they can not be cinched nor do they have the elasticized bottom like the Discovery Pants. L.L. PLEASE extend the sizes of these Discovery Pants!!

Fantastic rain pants
My toddler twins stomp in puddles, sit in small streams, and climb on every wet surface imaginable—and everything outside is wet for 9 months of the year where we live in the Pacific Northwest. I have even caught them laying down in puddles, lapping them up like dogs... Yet for all of the splashing, climbing, and even lapping, their underclothes remain completely dry with these rain pants. We have had them several months already and at this point they see almost daily use, yet no signs of wear (other than sand and dirt). My one request would be an adjustable waist band—they are a little loose and have even slid down a couple of times. We roll them at the top to make them fit more snugly. The adjustable ankle bands are fantastic and work every single time. Something similar at the waist, or an elastic with buttons, would be excellent. Otherwise, keep doing what you are doing with these, LL Bean, and thank you for creating a product that allows my little ones extended time outdoors to splash, climb, and even occasionally lap, until Mom comes and spoils that fun. :)

Puddle Jumping Success
I got these toddler rainpants for our grandson. With playgrounds closed and a need to keep our distances, what better way to have fun with a 2.5 year old, then to take advantage of rainy days, by finding puddles to jump in?!! His rain boots came home with puddles in them until we got these pants. Now we were able to jump for hours and as long as he didn't wade in over the height of his boots, we came home with dry feet!!!
The pants are thin enough to go over other pants and would work for a warm day with shorts. Big thumbs up from this grandma!!

Necessary Purchase
These pants have saved me from countless kid outfit changes. I have these in 2T and now 3T, as well as the jackets. My kids like wearing them, the velcro at the bottom helps keep water out even in deep puddles, and they enjoy going out in all weather. Best of all, they still look brand new even after a year of use.

Better than all the rest!
My girls wear rain pants spring through fall
to protect clothes from rain, mud, slush, etc. and the LLBean Discovery pants are hands-down the best! My biggest has been wearing them for several years (she now has to move up to the Little Kids), and my middle is enjoying the hand-me-downs. We get extra time out of them by rolling the waist. They’re lightweight, easy for the kids to get on and off on their own, wash like a dream (even when FILTHY), and the elastic bottom cinches over boots, so any puddle is fair game! I will buy these forever.

Comfortable, easy to wear, waterproof, affordable
I purchased these pants for my three year old daughter and one year old son when we learned we were moving to rainy Southeast Alaska. We love to play in the water, whether it be the ocean, a lake or out in the rain. These pants have been wonderful! They are easy for my children to wear with warm pants underneath and easy for them to take off (compared to a full rain suit, these pants are so much easier to wear for a child who is potty training). They are also easy to clean. The pants are comfortable and have always kept my children completely dry, even in rainy, windy conditions. Thank you L.L. Bean for once again making such a great product. I plan to order the next size up in these pants so that my children can continue to wear them.

Such excellent rain pants!!
I love these rain pants that my Mom got for my daughter!! The coral color is so cute and she also got my daughter the matching rain coat. My daughter and I recently took a walk in the rain and after we got home she was nice and dry!! I highly recommend this product!!

Good to double as snow pants in this crazy weather, as we've had snow on the ground while it's 70 outside. These seem to run small -- my son normally wears a 2T pant, but can fit comfortably in these 4T rain pants. I expect him to be able to wear them next year, as well. The waist fits his skinny self well!

Great for wet adventures
My 3 year old goes to a nature play based preschool and they go outdoors in all weathers. This is one of the few waterproof rain pants I could find in her size. It does work as advertised. The velcro cuffs at the bottom can be fitted even to my tiny toddlers ankles. My only complaint is the width of the legs is quite wide and it does look like she's wearing two bags on her legs. But she's an <5% for weight kind of a kid. The positive aspect is she can wear multiple pant layers without problem if need be.

I wanted to order these for my toddler and because I read the previous reviews, I was able to get exactly what I needed.
I ordered the matching jacket one size larger and these pants one size smaller. She wears 18 months right now so the jacket was 24months and the pants were 12months. Worked perfectly to accomodate for the loose waist which I know would have been a problem if I ordered true to size. The 12 month pants still work great and the 24 month jacket provide extra protection in case she sits on wet grass or mud. Very happy and thanks for all the previous reviews.

Toddler Rain Pants
I purchased the navy blue, Toddler size 2-3 years. The fit is perfect for a growing boy who is nearly two years old. I immediately noticed the band at the hem of the pants. The band is adjustable using a velcro style wrap. I liked the fact the pants fit over my grandson's boots to keep the rain out of his boots. The pants are thin enough to be worn three seasons of the year. I'm waiting for the yellow rain jacket to become available again. The pair will make a striking and comfortable outfit.

My son loves these!
Got these rain pants in Ruby Coral a few weeks ago for my 3.5 year old son. He loves them! The day they arrived he put them on and wore them all day. They are lightweight and seem to do the job in terms of protecting his clothes on muddy or wet days.

Excellent rain pants
I have bought these for both of my kids and they are very effective. We walk to school, rain or shine, and these pants, paired with good raincoats and boots, keep the kids' legs completely dry, even when they jump in puddles (or fall down in them!). They are a lifesaver on cold, rainy days -- the kids can play outside! I intend to continue to buy new ones as the kids grow.
I suggest sizing up.
