Bought this over a year ago. Ordered XL but I had lost weight and it was plenty large. Still wearing it and still love it. Wash in cold water in machine with woollite and it shows no ill effects. Am ordering a gray in Large. Unbeatable quality don't change.

A true homage to the originals.
LL Bean hit this one square in the head. An excellent wool sweater in a market where everything has gone to synthetics. The commando sweater is exceptionally warm and breathable. A timeless style and design with patches in the wear areas. The Merino wool is fine enough to be able to be worn against bare skin but not too fine as to be ineffective as a utility sweater.

The perfect commando sweater
Excellent, well made commando sweater. The large regular size fit me perfectly (5’10”, 173 lbs) and is very warm and comfortable. It’s a bit longer than others which makes it perfect for outdoor cold windy days. I wear a long sleeve t-shirt underneath for extra comfort.

Commando Sweater Too Tight
I would like to rate this sweater higher. A few years ago I bought the black version, in XL, and it is one of my favorite sweaters of all time. It is well fitted, comfortable but not baggy at all. This one, in XL as well, fits like an undergarment or base layer, verging on too tight.

High quality item but very tight around the forearms and made with scratchy material. I haven't owned one before so maybe this is normal, but I wouldn't have bought it if I'd known how it fit and felt.

Disappointing Fit
I ordered size XL, the same size of every sweater I own. When the Commando Sweater arrived, it was way too small in body and the tight sleeves were about three inches too long with the cuffs rolled up as shown in the photo. It simply didn't come close to fitting.

I bought this Men's Commando Sweater, Crewneck in size 2XL, my normal size, to replace an old LL Bean similar sweater that I bought years ago. The fit is perfect, nothing is too long. After all, the sleeves can be folded back. The torso fits fine, too. No issues at all!

Great Commando
This is a great version of a classic style commando sweater. Kept me warm out in extreme winter elements for hours. These sweaters are by design a slim and tight fit, so please keep that in mind and consider your body type before ordering this style. As with a lot of wool there was a slight itch on the arms when only wearing a t-shirt underneath, but after a few wears it goes away and starts to wear in.
