The original Maine Hunting Shoe was Leon Leonwood Bean's first product, introduced in 1912. Over the years, we've made lots of improvements to these boots, but hunters have told us that they miss the moccasin-like feel that our original boots had in the woods. So we set out to bring it back.

  • Moccasin-like, flexible sole.
  • New sole provides better traction and durability.

  • Not designed to stay submerged in water.
  • Improved upper molds to your leg for a custom fit.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Overall Leather is very nice. Not breathable but that's expected with rubber. The insoles started deteriorating after a few wears

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Les coutures ne tiennent pas le coup J'en suis à ma quatrième paire de «Men's Maine Hunting Shoes 10 po» .

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Maine hunting shoe Nice and really comfortable boot. The sizing is absolutely atrocious though, and LL Bean description does not help a little bit. I had to make two attempts to get the size right. The difference from 13 to 12 is enormous, the shoe is massively bigger and wider, as if they think 13 is worn only by true giants. Their tool comparing size to that of other manufactures is semi helpful. If you are buying that and not sure what your size might be in their denomination, I would mentally prepare for a couple of returns Other than that, it worked out just fine in the end

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 10" Maine Hunting Boot These boots are are very well made as always they are very comfortable right out of the box. I wear them all of the time as I spend most of my time outdoors. The boot area seems just a little more spacious which I like very much. Thanks Jordan you make a very nice boot. The only problem is the lacers are for a 8" boot and are way too short and will need to get the proper length.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Last 10" unlined option left The only 10" option left in the unlined style. Similar to the traditional Bean Boot and exactly the same fit. As always half sizes order down and possibly whole sizes too if you are planning on wearing a thinner or athletic sock as opposed to winter wool.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I Love These Things! I had always wanted a pair of these boots and in 2023 finally got a pair. Fast forward to today. I spent the better part of the day in ankle deep muck and had my boots on the entire time with nice warm, dry toes!! Ain’t life grand?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 46 years I purchased my last pair of these boots 46 years ago. I would still be wearing them but for the fact that they couldn’t be repaired any more. The new pair are 2” higher, 10” which I recommend highly. I wear a 10 1/2 wide; as instructed I purchased a size 10 wide, perfect fit. The laces are inferior, should not be sold with these boots. I look forward to 46 more years wearing these!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great boots Great boots. My last pair lasted almost 20 years. Not sure if they changed the leather on the upper or not. It seems stiffer than my last pair, but it may break in and soften up over time. Either way, I'm happy with them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Most comfortable boots ever! Excellent! The most comfortable boot my husband has ever worn! He prefers the 10" boot so please continue this option! The brown color option is very sharp looking.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Never disappoint Great boots. Had my first pair for 30 years and they are in for another set of new soles now. Decided to break down and get a new pair in the meantime. Ordered about a 1/2 size smaller than normal and they fit perfectly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great hunting boot Have owned Maine Hunting Shoes since I was a kid. In my opinion they are the best hunting boot made for Fall/early Winter conditions, especially when you’re likely to encounter wet conditions. They fit like a moccasin, are extremely quiet in the woods and allow you to feel what you’re walking on. None better for still hunting.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from wide - great boot... shoe laces are way too short The bean hunting shoes so far are great. I bought these because you offer wide. 12 was too tight on the width & 13 were way too long. 12 W are fantastic. thanks LL Bean. My one issue is the shoe laces are too short. They should be at the minimum 6 - 12 inches longer. When i walk in the snow & tuck in my pants I need more shoe lace length. Even every day I need longer laces because I double knot my laces to stop from untying when i am doing my daily walks in all weather. Please include longer laces. thanks

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Regular customer My husband is a long term customer and repeat buyer of the Maine Hunting Shoe. He wears them all the time when out in the woods, around the property, hunting and anytime I think he’ll find soft/muddy/wet ground. He says the new pair fits great and I’m sure he’ll get another 8+ years out of them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Job Well Done Amazing quality. On this example all the seams are well located, the rubber is thoroughly glued without gaps or over application. The shape of the boot is excellent and not oddly formed in manufacturing. The insole (not the removable insert) is acceptably smooth and comfortable. The sizing is as explained by LL Bean. I’m a 12.5 and bought a 12. There’s enough room for heavy ragwool socks and a modest Pedag wool felt insole. I’m very comfortable in the boots and they look great, better than the catalog pics which are good. Years ago I thought they were fashion forward preppie falderal. I’m converted. Buy these. I’ll be buying them again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hunting boots Thank you Jordan for the great work on my new boots. Replaces my well worn ones that I patched due to a rip by the sole and rubber toe. They feel like wearing a moccasin.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Boots! The first pair ( size 10) was too big. My husband usually wears a 10 or 10.5. Sending those back and getting a size 9 was very easy. He loves the size 9 boots and says they fit perfectly.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Too small to wear with boot socks I wear a 10.5 in a C width and bought these in a 10 D size. They are OK with lightweight dress socks but much too tight with even a medium weight boot sock. Not a chance that a 11 would fit properly and with a longer boot the support for the arch is moved forward which is not good in terms of support and comfort. Plan on buying boots from a place where I can try them on before making the purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Repair of Vintage Boots I recently turned in my 20+ year-old 10" boots at the LL Bean flagship store in Freeport. They took great care to replace the soles and repair the boots...even ensuring that the vintage "Maine Hunting Shoe" label was replaced and retained. As a 45 year customer of Beans it is good to know that this service still exists and that the work is still done with care in Maine.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Rubber soles get hard and become unusable in snow I got a pair of these back in 2016. Wore them a season and then packed away when I moved to warmer weather. Back in the cold and now the first time I wore them they are too slick to wear in the snow as the rubber is rock hard. Not sure if I should resole or trash given the changes to the LL Bean Warranty.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Maine native loves LLBean boots! As a native of Maine, LLBean boots are my husband’s go to boots. Unfortunately for LLBean, their boots seemingly last forever and/or can be re-soled which makes an investment in these boots a wise decision. My husband is now in his mid 70’s and he has owned several pairs of various LLBean boots over the years, are the only boots he wears, and each has performed well. He wore one pair (had them re-soled twice) for almost 20 years and he is hard on his footwear!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent all around boot Just got the boots in the mail today, and they’re some of the best boots I’ve ever purchased. They’re surprisingly warm (I had normal socks on and my feet were toasty) and the leather was excellent quality. They’re very spacious inside which is no surprise as they are meant to be worn with thick wool socks. My only negative is the size of the shoe laces. As a soldier I’m used to boots with mile long shoelaces; these are about what you’d expect from a regular boot, which made me have to unlace several holes in order to slip my foot out. Overall, an amazing boot! Will definitely buy the higher boots in the future!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Maine Hunting Boot Went to the Lyndhurst, OH area location to buy the Maine Hunting Shoe. I was informed that you can only buy them in Maine. The sales clerk suggested that I try on a regular Bean Boot for sizing. Then assisted me in ordering they in store for home delivery. This boots run big so I would suggest ordering a size smaller.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing boots. So comfortable. These boots are just as I remembered them years ago. So comfortable and perform great. I don’t want to take them off. Just make sure to go by their sizing chart and you will be fine. I’m normally a 12 to 12 1/2 and I ordered an 11 and they fit great with room to spare even with thick socks.
