Shrinking turtlenecks
I have been purchasing LLBean turtleneck and mockneck shirts for many years. Although I don't put them in the dryer and always wash them in cold water, they shrink up several inches. My daughter has had the same issue with hers, so I purchased the Tall turtlenecks with hopes we won't have the shrinking issue again. I've not had this issue with any other Bean products. The quality of the material is outstanding and I've never had a problem with the colors fading. It's just the shrinking I have an issue with.

Too snug & uncomfortable tag
Runs very tight. Care tag in side seam feels like plastic. Very uncomfortable in a place where skin is very tender. Tags used to be cloth.

So far so good. Bought a larger size, worried a little about shrinkage because I dry everything in a hot dryer but it came out just fine. One complaint: Not enough colors offered for this shirt. Not a fan of light colors. Would like to see dark brown, dark green colors added.

Great T-Neck
Long ago I had collected probably 10 of these t-necks in various colors. They lasted for at least ten years, though the sleeves & body shrunk up a lot, the width widened, and I eventually gave up on them. Then they stopped being available in Tall and I stopped looking for LLBean t-necks for several years. I recently rediscovered them and ordered five. Happily surprised!! The fabric is substantial, the sleeves and body are long enough, the cut is relativity flattering, the neck is snug enough to stay up without chocking me, the colors are vibrant. They've made it through their first two cold water washings & 10 minute drying followed by air drying, with very little shrinking. I'm broad shouldered, not largely endowed , 5'10, 140-145 pounds, and the Large Tall fits nicely. I have the alpine blue, dark cranberry, deep turquoise, larkspur, and rose shadow. Very pleased and fingers crossed for years of t-neck happiness.

Don’t accidentally wash/dry normal setting
I bought the turtleneck and loved it Long enough and soft. I washed before wearing at normal setting - not hot. It shrunk so much that it would only fit an 8 year old. I wish I’d connected with the care before purchasing. I would have not purchased it.

I am disappointed that this turtleneck seems to have shrunk in length a small amount. I washed it the same way I wash the pima cottons which is using cold water and then going into the dryer with other cottons. The fabric in this turtleneck is not pima although it is also cotton. This turtleneck also differs from the pima in the cuffed bottom of the sleeves.
The turtleneck fit as expected (true to size) until I washed and dried it.

I have long arms, and this turtleneck had very long arms as well! It’s difficult to find sleeves that fit me. My only constructive criticism would be to have the neck be a little bit looser. The fabric is very Nice and warm plenty of shirt to tuck in

Cuffed Sleeves - YAY!
I don't know why other stores don't carry women's turtlenecks with cuffed sleeves but thankfully L.L. Bean does! I come back every year to see if there are new colors to purchase. I love the tightness of the neck (no sagging) and the cuffs on the sleeves keep everything in place. Please don't stop making these because quality women's turtlenecks with cuffed sleeves are hard to find...even for a shopping diva like me! :)

Neck too loose
The description said neck "not too loose, not too tight. It is at least two inches too big. Turtlenecks used to be snug to the neck for warmth. They are now loose and saggy for those of us who have not gained a lot of weight over the years. I assume this was done to satisfy the needs of the heavier population, but it does not meet the needs of the rest of us. Luckily, I still have some many years old LL Bean turtlenecks with the snug necks that I prefer.

Classic quality and comfort
Great quality knit, soft and not too thick. Great for layering, doesn’t feel bulky under sweaters or jackets, No bunching at the shoulders or arms. Doesn’t feel tight around the neck like other turtlenecks. I’ve washed 4 times and it seems to hold up really well after drying, no color fading, some slight shrinkage in the length, but nothing substantial. I’m 5’8, 155 lbs and the Large is a comfortable fit. I’ll be buying more of these for sure, such a great color selection!
