Amazing Jacket
I've owned this Field Coat for well over a decade! Had to break it out again, yesterday as we're having a cold snap here in Florida. It still looks great! It still fits great! It feels like an old friend! This is why I purchase from L. L. Bean.

Nylon sleeve lining
Just feel a little annoyed that I read "cotton lined" and assumed the arms would be cotton lined as well. Hate the feeling of plastic/nylon lining in sleeves.

Field Coat of Dreams
I have wanted one of these for a long time. Finally bought one and it is even better than I had hoped. Great fit, great appearance and very comfortable. A really nice coat! Thank you!

Jacket that has everything
Though I'm a woman, I like the men's field coat because it's not confining and there's plenty of room to raise my arms and room for layers underneath. And the four patch pockets plus zippered upper pocket are wonderful if I want to leave my bag at home. Flannel lining is warm.

DO NOT PURCHASE THIS COAT
Poor Quality. I wore the coat four times and the buttons started to fall off. I don’t purchase clothing to have to take it for repairs. I will not buy LL Bean products again.

Buttons Already Falling Off
I bought this jacket because I wanted a durable jacket that would last a lifetime. However after a couple times wearing this jacket the buttons are starting to fall off. A relatively easy fix but I expect way more from an almost $300 jacket. I hope the rest of the jacket is not as poor quality as the buttons.

Would buy again !
would have been a 5star if the sleeves had been cotton lined the polyester makes the arms cooler than the rest of the jacket noticeably

Field coat review
Coat showed up with buttons ready to fall off. And now that I’ve had it a couple weeks, I need to sew all four buttons on properly. Sewing the bottoms on will take me at least an hour, possibly more.

Reminds me of the one I had 40 years ago!
Great coat, well made. I might suggest a little heavier flannel .

Nice Jacket but Wayyy Too Lightweight for Cool Wea
I think this jacket is very nicely constructed and has a nice design, but unfortunately this jacket is wayyy too lightweight for cold weather. I understand the cotton flannel lining isn't exactly the heaviest (which I expected from the get-go) but the sleeves are NOT good. They use a poly-satin lightweight lining that provides absolutely no warmth. If this jacket had quilted nylon sleeves (like the wool version), I might've kept it. But the sleeves really ruined it for me. Even with my heavy flannel, I could barely retain heat. I'd also prefer if the pockets were lined because they way they're sewn, they actually hang around on the outside, meaning wind will directly hit your hands. Overall despite the sturdy construction, this jacket can definitely use improvements. I'd also like to add, this thing runs hugeeee. I normally wear a large but this runs a whole size to size and a half-up!

Excellent coat for fall
This barn coat is excellent. The canvas shell is dense and durable, with solid stitching that holds its structure. The corduroy collar adds comfort and contrast. The fit is slightly relaxed, allowing layering without bulk. It provides the right level of warmth for cool fall weather without overheating. Pockets are deep and practical. The buttons are firm and well-placed. The overall construction shows quality and longevity. It develops a natural patina with wear, giving a more charactered look over time. An ideal everyday field coat for transitional seasons.

Labeled wrong at the store
There was a whole rack of these placed in the women’s section of the store. Being in a hurry I grabbed my usual medium. Got home to find it was huge and that I had actually purchased a men’s jacket. This wasn’t a randomly placed item in the women’s area- they had set this whole display rack of these in the wrong section.
So I had to go through the whole hassle of returning it. And it’s an hour drive.

Original is Best
This is my second “original,”and it will last my lifetime. I made a mistake last year and bought the “1924” version, which disappointed me. Thus, I’m back with the “original” and will not stray again. A homeless man, down on his luck, is wearing the disappointing “1924.”

A Comfortable and Reliable Coat
I've always loved Bean's Field Coats, and this one is no exception. This coat, size small, fits me perfectly, and is well made. I like all the aspects of wearing it. I'll wear it in fall, winter and spring.

Wonderful field jacket with great utility!
Very well made and very comfortable to wear. Light enough to be worn in fall and spring, but with a sweater, should be comfortable in the winter as well.

Not great ...
Bought this coat a couple months ago and not really thrilled with the quality. Buttons fall off, stitching coming loose, and overall a disappointment for this kind of money.

not a true size.
I take XXXL. I have ordered other clothing items from LL Bean that are XXXL. They all fit, some are a little too big. This runs small and did not fit. If you take XXXL this will not fit.

Runs huge
This past year I bought two LL Bean jackets, this and the utility trucker, both in size L. The trucker fits perfectly, but this coat is so big it makes me look like a child wearing my dad's coat. It's a very nice coat and I wanted it to work, but I ended up returning it because it was unwearable even with a mid-layer sweater or sweatshirt.

Perfect for spring and fall
A great option for the shoulder seasons. Loose fitting allows bulkier sweaters. Ample pockets. A sleek silhouette compliments the rugged look

My Go-To Outerwear
This is my third Field Coat in 15 years...I love them so much that I wear'em to pieces. Great in early and late Winter with the lining in and great in the Fall and Spring with the lining out! A great top layer and tough as nails.

Great coat
This is my husband’s 2nd one. The first one lasted 8 years. He loves them. True to size. Comfy, lightweight. Great coat for the fall and those warmer winter days.

Gift was a Hit!
This wa a gift for our son. He loves that he could layer & still clear the snow from the driveway in late winter. Once Spring was around the bend, he could also work around the yard as needed without layering.

Needs just one important detail -
I bought mine about 15 years ago. Still love the coat but was disappointed that it lacked one important feature that Bean still hasn't added - an inside breast pocket. No one I know what's to carry a wallet in the front patch pockets. It's too easy to lose an item when, for example, you reach inside for a glove. It's just not secure. I owned a field cost years ago from another maker that included two inside breast pockets. Unfortunately, that coats exterior wasn't as rugged as this cost. It seems like a small ask, but I wouldn't buy this cost again because this missing feature.

A feels-good coat
This is a replacement for an early one that is much too large due to weight loss from my fight with cancer. Size medium fits well over a fleece sweater or fleece shirt as I hade hoped. Used to be 6'. Now bent over and about 115 lbs. Pockets are great for wallet, keys, phone etc. when wearing draw string pants. Too many surgeries for a snug belt to hold up jeans.
