Love it but for the length of the corduroy cuffs
This is a really, really good-looking coat. I live in Southern California, and this is about all I need in the winter 95% of the time. If it's raining, or in the low 40s, I wear a puff jacket underneath and add a scarf when necessary. The Millerain coating on the jacket keeps me dry and comfortable.
My one and only criticism of this coat is the length of the very cool corduroy cuffs. They are a forest green and when they're turned back they totally up the look of the coat. Only problem is LL Bean made the cuffs only about an inch in length, so when you turn them back the brown arm liner pokes out. Also, you can't really button up the cuffs with them turned back. Bottom line: These cuffs need to be at least 2 inches in length, so that when you turn them back, they stay turned back and lookin' slick.
Years ago, I had the regular current Field Coat, and it had brown corduroy sleeves. As I remember it, they were long enough to turn them back--and they stayed turned back. That said, the quality of the cloth in that coat just wasn't the same as this coat. This one rocks, and comes out of the box looking wicked good!
Dear LL Bean, please go back to to the "old-new way" of making this coat with longer corduroy cuffs. If you do, I'll buy another--and give this one to my little brother--who digs the heck out of it and covets mine! That said, I've told him the coat won't look as good on him as it does on me, but when does a little brother ever listen?
Final note: If you're my height, you'll need the Tall length.

Wonderful jacket
I almost couldn't be happier with this jacket. Very well made, quite comfortable, and warm on cold, blustery days (like today.) My only niggling complaint about it is that, as I have narrow wrists, I would have appreciated an extra button on the sleeves so they don't feel so loose at the wrists. Other than that, highly recommended.

Sleeves too long.
The coat itself is great, but the sleeves are way too long on the size medium. I am not a small guy, and the sleeves hang to the middle of hand. I had to alter the length of the sleeves which further added to the cost of the coat.

Price surprise
Love the coat, but imagine how surprised I was to find a price tag of $229.00 on it, when I was charged $250.00 online when I bought it.

Never Discontinue this COAT!
Super comfortable, lasts forever. Great Investment and awesome fashion statement. Always get compliments every time I wear it. Warm, but when it is real cold, I add a fleece vest underneath.

Warm, fits, but details matter
The shanks on three of four buttons are unravelling and will need replacement. One was bad when I received coat a couple of months ago, while the others worsened with use. It fits over layers - a flannel shirt plus a thin fleece plus a down vest. It is windproof and so far has kept me dry in light rains. Looks good enough. Pockets are handy.

1924 Field Coat is a Keeper
I love this coat. It is very well made. The lining is extremely comfortable.
The outer shell is great. It is tough and able to be cleaned. The shell is not easily snagged on branches, burrs, etc. I couldn't be happier that LLBean brought this gem back.

Great. I like the old school field coat.
Great. Sturdy. Warm but not too warm. I like the revisiting of a true old-school field coat. My only critique is the chest pockets. The chest pockets should be larger.

Disliked Buttons
Did not like the button-down style of this coat.. I would think that snaps would work great or a zipper…Would also liked it to have been longer in the back a tad. The coat was for a friend, and I know for a fact, he could not be bothered with the buttons. In the end, I returned the coat.

Warmer than I expected especially with an under layer. Nice enough to wear business casual.

Handsome coat, but buttons not securely attached
I bought this coat for my husband just a couple of months ago. It fits him well, is warm and comfortable, and is generally well made. However I am disappointed that the buttons are already raveling and will soon fall off. Yes, I can fix this, but when one pays good money and purchases from a company known for quality, one does not expect to have to be securing buttons before the garment has given one season of service. L.L. Bean, you can do better.

Amazing coat
I bought this while looking at Filson’s cruiser and don’t regret it. It’s a very comfortable coat and fits perfectly. The coat isn’t stiff at all and the material feels great. What would make it 5 stars are a few craftsmanship issues such as a few loose threads that can be cut. It does attract lint like crazy and could use a removable liner like other coats but it’s a great coat regardless. I wore it at a night outdoor Christmas event in 50 degree weather and never really felt cold. Any colder than 45 and I would have preferred something warmer but it did a great job at keeping me comfortable. Looking forward to years of future use.

A Great Field Coat
Just opening the box, it was apparent the field coat was a great quality garment. The lining and corduroy were great touches, and in addition to looking great, it feels like it can stand up to field use. Highly recommend!

Wonder Coat
This Field Coat really deserves a spectacular review. I wish I was a better writer. I’m in the ‘words can not express’ category when it comes to describing how wonderful this coat is. It repels water, wind, and bothersome twigs branches and brush when I am hiking. The fit is superb and ease of entry (important at age 75) is a pleasure.

Great fitting, warm, perfect Fall and Spring coat
Terrific coat. Warm enough for harsh, windy conditions, but light enough to wear when it's 55-60 outside. Great fit and very high quality materials.

Not what was pictured.
The color was much darker than the picture. It was nearly dark brown vs the light mustard yellow that’s pictured. The coat was also way too big.

Poor quality
Recently just about all cloths products LL Bean sells have dropped in quality. The material they are made out of is different. They are no longer roomy. It’s a shame because you used to be able too count on Bean quality. Not so anymore.
