Exactly What I Wanted!
I've wanted a chore/farm jacket ever since I first saw the Paynter version. I was thrilled to find LL Bean's version. That it was on sale was icing on the cake! It fits me perfectly, including my arms, which is often a problem for me since mine are so long. It is exactly what I wanted. Where I now live is chilly and drizzly most of the year, making this the perfect thing to throw on when I need to run errands or walk the pup. Honestly, I couldn't be happier with the purchase.

Great coat, lucked out on price
I've had my eye on this coat for a while. I happened to stop in at my local store where they had a few discounted ($100 off), so I lucked out with a great price. Very happy to have gotten it, I sized down so it has a more tailored fit. It's a good alternative to my oversized barn coat. The lining is very soft and it looks like it will handle wind well, and I'm glad it's water resistant. Looking forward to wearing it into the Fall.

Beautiful Jacket, exactly what im looking for!

Not true to the original
I have worn LL Bean barn/field coats for years and the fit was always comfy, allowing me to layer up. Despite it being called a "classic" the barn coat has been completely redesigned. Sleeves are now narrow and shoulders tight. The styling cuts in at the waist and it's at least four inches too short. Returning...

Updated smart looking classic
I purchased this specifically to wear for transitional weather. I bought the black because I love the look of a nifty black jacket with skinny black jeans and black suede ballet flats. The jacket is reminiscent if the tailoring if my face vomited Sugnature pies though not as streamlined at the hip. I am slender and barely 5'4". I purchased the Regular in XXS. A petite would have been too short. I am enjoying wearing it. I miss the fine tailoring and perfectly scaled sizes of the early years of the Signature range.

Great Fit and Quality Materials
LOVE LOVE LOVE this jacket. Tailored fit and feel. (read the care label) It has lots of pockets. I'm not saying it is wind proof...but the quality materials and tighter weave of the fabric did keep me more warm compared to other polyester and wool blend jackets I own.

Not at all what I expected
The jacket was paper thin and oilcloth was really of a cheaper value than that of the same exact jacket I purchased from LL Bean years ago. The price was not cheaper. I would understand an inflationary price if the quality was the same or better. I returned the product immediately.

Yay for the Field Coat!
Love this coat! I had one years ago and wore it out, so I was delighted to see them make a comeback! I could wear L or XL and decided to go bigger so I can fit a bulky sweater layer under it with ease (I am a 6’ tall athletic woman). Happy I chose the traditional tan color too, it looks good with everything. Comfy, warm, good looking fall into early winter jacket. I live in a northern state with cold winters; this isn’t my winter coat, but it’s a fantastic transition season layer for when the evenings and mornings are cold but the middays are still warm. Great at shedding rain too!

I am 5’3 about 120 lbs and ordered a small. I was hoping for a medium due to the reviews but they were out of stock so I ordered the small because I really wanted this coat and to see if it would fit. Small is my normal size and I’m glad I ordered it. It fits great and I’m glad I got this coat. It is beautifully made and seems to be good quality. I’m hoping to have this coat for a long time.

Big Disappointment
I currently wear a PS WINTER field coat. For my new purchase, I went up one size to a PM field coat. Not only was the coat much too small, it's not even a winter coat. Extremely disappointed to say the least. I'm not happy with LL Bean for its lack of consistency. This is the second time this has happened with LL Bean's field coat. When I wanted to replace my original field coat with the same size, t found it 2 inches smaller across the chest. Never again. I will shop elsewhere.

This coat is outstanding!
I bought this coat to wear to Northern Ireland next spring because of its rain resistance. I decided to try it on and wear it for barn chores for just a couple of days to check the rain resistance. Instead of tucking it away til vacation, I have continue to wear it because I just LOVE it! It is not bulky and stiff to wear. The finish and feel of the material is so flexible and soft, but extremely sturdy and yes, the raindrops bead right up. Only one issue, two buttons have come very loose and that’s a pain cause I have no needles to sew on that canvass material with. Other than that, I was so pleased with this coat that I bought my husband the same coat for Xmas!

Sadly, Not For Me
I had high hopes when I ordered this item, but it did not meet my expectations, to my disappointment. It was skimpier in size and shorter in length. My LLBean barn coat in the same size is a much better fit. I really wanted this coat to work but it wasn’t right for me and may not be right for others. In fairness, the workmanship on the coat is excellent and the little details are well crafted.

A real keeper
Really nice jacket - well made, nice weight and very comfortable. I was a little hesitant to buy it but it fits nicely with a sweater underneath and I have worn it constantly since it arrived. One criticism: It says the fabric is 'wax cotton' but there's no indication of wax to me (i actually have another limited edition coat with fabric from the same company that is waxed; totally different look and feel)

Classic look, easy care!
Classic look, perfect fit. (XS petite fits 5’1” 110 lbs like it was custom-tailored). Perfect weight with a sweater underneath for chilly fall days. Lots of pockets, and they’re convenient for phone and keys. The lower pockets open from the top, not the sides, which took a little getting used to, since I like to put my hands in my coat pockets. However, I found that putting your hands in the pockets from the top works (I didn’t have to break my habit entirely). Tan color looks great with all earth tones and also works with black. I love the look and feel of this so much I ordered a second in the faded black color. I highly recommended this if you’re looking for an easy care, comfortable, classic-style waxed cotton jacket.

Wanted to love this
I splurged on this and truly wanted to love it. I cut off all the sewn-on tags (because they drive me nuts). While it was of decent quality, at the end of the day, it was just too short, too stiff, and too heavy for my liking. I actually donated it to charity.
