Nice casual vest with useful pockets
I just received this vest. I really like it. Casual but functional. Fits well. The only thing I would change would be side entry pockets. It's well made but pricey even at a sale price. For those of you who do not like the patches on the vest, they are easily removed with a seam ripper which I did. The evidence of stitching should fade out after a few washes and maybe use an iron. Otherwise they don't really show that much.

Best travel gift ever.

Beautiful vest - 2nd one purchased since Apr 2024
I purchased the original vest without the patches earlier in April 2024 and left a 5 star review then. This time I ordered the allspice colored one with the patches and LOVED it too! It fits the same as original vest and again, I sized down from large to medium for a more tailored fit. I wear my tunic length shirts under it which gives it a funky “Diane Keaton” like look. I partially zip it up with the bottom part of the vest left open. Unlike the other reviewers, I like the patches and the beautiful allspice colored. Definitely recommend this stylish and well-made vest!!

Perfect fit and weight

Antique Olive Looked Perfect
I thought this would be the perfect vest, but as others have mentioned this is false advertising. The Antique Olive vest is featured in the image without patches, but arrives full of patches. If you are a woman seeking to resemble a boyscout this is the vest for you. If you are a woman seeking a semi-sophisticated outdoor piece, give this a miss. Totally false advertising.

Great light vest
I have the Allspice vest. I love (love!) the color and the badges as well, makes you look like a Scout from Wes Anderson movie. It is very lightweight (I live Southwest so that is a good quality). Cant wait to wear it!

Vest Differs Vastly from Picture
I ordered this vest in olive green because the online photo showed it as a plain, great vest, while the acorn color had patches and a large LLB on the chest.
Sadly, the green vest came with all the same patches/logo as the ac I'm sure many people love these, but I find them unattractive, at best. I felt like a boy scout earning badges when I tried it on. I like the vest a lot, and understand many people must like the patchy look. I do wish there is an option to choose a color without the decorations.

Patches, rather than plain as pictured
I’ve waited since July for this back ordered vest. I ordered the Antique Olive because it was plain, rather than the Allspice with patches. While the vest is lovely, the patches reduce it to cosplay for this urban gal. Every photo of the model shows a plain vest. I am many decades into my love for LLB and order embarrassingly regularly. However, in this instance, the inaccurate representation on the website and ensuing disappointment and inconvenience propels me to share this. The fit was fine.
Don’t order unless you want the patches.

Antique Olive now WITH patches (not like photo)
I ordered the Antique Olive color because I did not want the patches. In the photos, this color doesn’t have them. However, I received the vest and, while it is the Antique Olive color, it came with the patches. The wrong description aside, I do love the vest. The fit is perfect and seems like it will be very versatile (though it would be better without the patches).
I would have given 5 stars if it came without the patches.

Fabulous vest!
I bought this vest for camping a few weeks ago and love it. Color, craftsmanship, length (short) are all perfect for me. I had been looking for a vest like this for a few years. I like that it is all cotton but would also purchase a design like this in nylon. I am 5’6”, 155 lbs with broad shoulders. I don’t like tight jackets/vests so decided to size up to Large. Could easily have stayed with a Medium though the large is fine so I can wear a layers underneath. This vest is a total win for me!

My search, finally over!
I bought this vest a few months ago and it has been my favorite purchase of the year! I have two dogs that need walks and I need a layer with pockets but NOT willing to sacrifice style. I get tons of compliments, and it goes with everything. LOVE that it’s 98% cotton, with a tiny bit of stretch. Workmanship is excellent. If it came out in a plain black and/or light trench khaki I’d buy both. Love the safari look.

Great features
I wore this vest while working and hiking this spring and into early summer. It adds very little warmth but it does add some protection from plants that I encountered. Pockets are nice and roomy. I would add hand pockets that hands can slide into from the sides. With those pockets added the vest would get 5 stars. Good fit over short and long sleeves

Wonderful vest, meh on the color
I took a point off here for the Army green color — I wanted a light-weight vest for summer but they are VERY hard to find, so this works in that capacity and I’ve worn this vest a lot. I liked the other color better but not the embellishments. I also have reservations about how this will launder — I fear it will fade a lot, so I’ll wash on the hand wash cycle, cold, and hang to dry. It doesn't come in petite per se but, take note tall women, it's quite short. I do love that it has a double zipper; I wish more garments did, for the easy of movement factor — and the fact that some of us senior gals are a little wider in the hip. Overall, it's a well-built vest.

INCREDIBLE Vest
Guys, when I tell you that this vest is amazing, please know I don’t say that lightly. I own the vintage olive. The quality is so, so high. I like it better than the dewberry and Barbour ones I own. The pockets are perfect. The fit is soooo flattering. Bought it at the Freeport store when I was in Maine. My travel buddies loved mine so much that they ALL bought one too. Seriously the quality on this is so high. I’m leaving this review and probably buying the allspice version. I found it true to size - I’m an 8 and bought a M.really, I wear this thing multiple times a week in Mississippi in 100°F weather. That’s how great it is. I haven’t owned anything LL Bean since my mom bought it for us as kids, but that’s all changing now!

Even Nicer Than Its Online Photo
This vest couldn't be better. The cotton canvas fabric is a very good quality and neither too thin nor too heavy. The styling and workmanship are excellent. Even the inside is meticulously finished. I'd describe this vest as understated casual chic. I keep thinking of all the things that I can wear it with, especially a pair of L.L. Bean Signature skinny camouflage pants that I bought a few years ago. It's not only cute and practical but, also, versatile.

Excellent vest!
I love this vest. It’s a tiny bit fitted but not so much that it highlights my ample (post menopausal) midriff. I can wear it with a cami or other layer, open or closed. It’s definitely a favorite!!

Cute vest. The double zipper, lack of lining and cropped length are great. Bought for warm weather horseback riding. It would be perfect if it had an inside pocket . Size small is good for my 125 lb., 5'-6" frame.
