Bought this jacket for a homeless man in the area. Got an extra large (way too big) because he wanted to be able to fit some of his thinner jackets and sweaters under it (so as not to have to carry them). The Parka That Will NOT Let You Down!
This IS the best parka I have owned since I lived on a mountain top in Germany over 50 years ago!

Not good for skiing with edged skis
I wish LL Bean would make parkas entirely out of ripstop nylon instead of the polyester they've apparently switched to. When one puts their skis on their shoulder, the edges slice the polyester and the feathers start flying. And I'm not one for razor sharp edges-have not sharpened edges in several years. The nylon shoulders are an improvement, but they are not big enough-I've got two slices on the upper arms.

Just as Expected!
I live in very rural Alaska, and the LL Bean Parka line is my go-to product. I have an upcoming trip on New Year's to Chicago and for packing purposes, so I thought I would try this lightweight parka. It arrived yesterday and it is 18 degrees up here today where I live. I took a walk around town for about 45 minutes and this coat is amazing. I actually had it unzipped halfway down during my walk. Thank you again LL Bean!

Great Versatile Winter Jacket
Lightweight yet warm, good looking enough to wear to church but not so fancy that you can't wear it every day....really love this jacket. True to size fit. I'm 6'1", 190 lbs. with long arms - 35/36 dress shirt sleeve.. The sleeves on this jacket fit me perfectly. Highly recommend.

Why we like it: trim fit, longer length, detachable hood, water repellant, reinforced shoulders (prevent backpack strap damage). Nice color, too—a change from the usual navy, black or olive. I bought this for my son and my husband liked it so much that I bought him one, too (he went for the gray one—also a nice color). Neither of them miss their old bulky, heavy, too-many-pockets parkas. Unfortunately for me, they went on sale just after I purchased them. Still, a good price for a jacket of this quality.

Warmest coat I ever owned
This is by far the warmest coat I have ever owned. We had some cold days up here in upstate New York where the temperatures with the windchill were in the single digits and it kept me warm. I would highly recommend it.

I’ve had this coat for a month or so, and it is light weight, warm, and comfortable. It’s the only coat I own that I don’t feel compelled to remove before getting in the car. Whether on a long walk or a short drive, It keeps me warm and dry without over heating.

Functional and Attractive
I purchased this jacket for my husband this Christmas. We live in New England and our winters can be quite cold. My hubby reports that he finds the jacket warm and comfortable. It is not bulky or restrictive. The standup collar is also a plus as he dislikes scarves. I like that it adds a different color to his wardrobe! Enough with black, navy, gray and brown.

Great coat for those frigid days in New England.
It’s very warm and comfortable. My only complaint is the snaps n the front enclosure. They are very hard to snap them together. I would also like to have an interior pocket or two. I like the fit, it’s a long coat, nice warm hood that is removable.

The coat is toasty warm. I can wear it with just a short sleeve shirt underneath it and the hood, although I don’t wear, it keeps the wind off my neck. Worth the price.

Style, Warmth, Comfort
This was an excellent Christmas gift for my boyfriend. It's so soft and light, but he says it's been keeping him perfectly warm (not overly so) on his daily walks. Lately it's been below freezing with windchill in NYC, so that's saying something! Also it's worth noting that this puffer design isn't too bulky. My BF is 6'2" and not slim, so some puffer coats make him look enormous. Not this one. I highly recommend!

My previous LLBean winter jacket was many, many years old and showing wear. I wanted something new to wear when out with friends. This jacket is THE WARMEST I have ever owned. Totally disappointing Mountain Classic Down Parka
This Mountain Classic Down Parka was a big disappointment. It is not warm enough for Boston's winter temperature. Secondly, lack of pockets. Parkas should have 4-5 pockets on the outside and a minimum of 4-6 pockets in the inside. 2 large inside pockets are REQUIRED to stow winter cap and gloves. This parka has zero. This parka has only 2 outside pockets and one zippered inside pocket to store valuables like cell phone.

My husband likes winter again!

Poor hood
The hood doesn't work well. It does not encompass my head properly. i fold the leading edge under so I can see. But that works only partially. I tighten the hood cords as tight as it will go and I still can't see well.
