Our comfortable, heritage-inspired flannel anorak is made of exclusive Scotch Plaid flannel fabric that's expertly brushed for incredible softness.
For over 80 years, we've been making our authentic Scotch Plaid flannel shirts the way we always have: better than everyone else's. Our exclusive flannel fabric is meticulously woven with longer-staple cotton, which means the individual cotton fibers are about one-quarter inch longer than short-staple fibers, making a huge difference in fabric strength and quality. Then, it's meticulously brushed eight times on each side and given a "touch test" by a master weaver to declare it soft enough.
- Made of 100% high-quality Portuguese cotton flannel, an L.L.Bean exclusive.
- Authentic tartans are yarn-dyed for lasting color.
- Each color is carefully matched to the historical tartans in the Scottish registry.

Bean’s flannel material is the best! It is so soft, almost feels “worn in” right out of the box.
But a disclaimer, I am a six foot tall man with broad shoulders and ordered an XL size. ..I was surprised that it wasn’t longer..

My favorite flannel
This is absolutely my favorite flannel shirt to wear. I love the quality and feel of it. The kangaroo pocket and the hood just make it so much better than a regular flannel. I have to force myself not to wear it, so that I can put it in the wash! Like all other L. L. Bean items, this flannel is built to last a very long time. I love this shirt!

Not Inclusive to TALL people
Tall people are tall by genetics, it's not a choice. When companies like L.L.Bean choose to increase profits by only serving 80% of the people, it excludes all TALL people - our sons, daughters, fathers and mothers - who have to wear clothes that stop 2" short if their wrist, and whose waist is exposed because shirts are too short. The answer is not to buy XXL sizes because they don't have extra length, they have extra girth. Compassionate Marketing Teams ensure to provide LT (LARGE TALL) and XLT sizes. The same is true for pants, which are supplied as wide as you can imagine, but finding a length greater than 32 Mens is almost impossible.
