Absolutely Beautiful waffle knit river driver shir
I bought 2 of these gorgeous shorts for my adult sons for Christmas. They were a massive hit! They are so well made, quite thick and warm and the pocket detail with the Bean label is a really classy touch. They also wash beautifully. If only they didn’t sell out so quickly. I’d buy more!

A Warm Well Made Garment
My first impressions of this waffle “shirt” is that it is quite thick. More like a sweater. Also that it is very well made. I have worn it in temperatures down to the low 50’s Fahrenheit with no wind, and it kept me warm. Also under a textile motorcycle jacket that is very wind resistant, and it handled 50 mph winds with temperatures down to the low 50’s with no problems. For me, the upper limit of comfort with this “shirt” is maybe 63-64° before it starts to get a little warm. Size wise, I followed the chart for my measurements and weight, and found it to be a little bit on the large size, but it is not a deal breaker. I will try to gradually wash it in increasingly hotter water and then maybe the dryer to shrink it a little bit. This is an excellent garment if you are layering up to keep you warmer when the weather is starting to get a little chillier in the late fall/ early winter. Of course, your metabolism may vary.

I probably ordered the wrong size XXLarge but that is probably the fact other online stores generally say to order next size up. The X-Large would have been just right.

Too Tall!
Usually when I order a "tall" size it is just right. The Henley Shirt I received has much longer sleeves and a much longer body than what I usually get. Other than that it fits pretty good and I am keeping it but I wish that when I order tall there is more consistency.

The large shirt seemed like it should have been an XXL instead of L !! Had to send it back. Plus the color wasn't anywhere near the rich burgundy in the catalog or the picture above, It was more of a muddy brownish color rather than burgundy shown abovel

Longevity Is Not a Part of this Shirt
I have bought 3 of these and this is already starting to fray at the wrist. That should not be happening with a "quality" shirt at this stage in life. The same thing happened to the 5 quilted quarter zip sweatshirts that I bought. Maybe LL Bean's quality is not what it used to be.
