Perfect winter jacket
I buy my granddaughter 1 of these jackets every year, although the last 1 fit for 2 years! This was the 1st color block style and the colors are great to match snow pants. Usually, a light to medium layer works underneath for warmth in VT. These machine wash and dry well. A very comfortable jacket.

good quality, not a great fit
I bought this in size L for my very medium-sized twelve year old, and it should have been plenty big by the size chart. But it felt small to him, I think because the cut of this jacket is off. The shoulders are too narrow, body length is a little short, sleeves are slightly too short and too wide at the cuff.
Otherwise, it is the good quality you expect from LLBean. The amount of fill is good, the fabric and construction qood quality. We returned it because it didn't fit properly.
By the way, the orange jacket looks like it has yellow on the chest on my monitor. In fact it is a mustardy beige. If you're hoping for a bright-colors jacket, this is only sort of it.

Warm, high quality
Love the colors. Feels like a nice lightweight jacket that rolls/folds up really small but my daughter has never once complained of being cold in it even in Chicago winters . I kind of wish it was lined in fleece or something like the puffier down coat we had from LL Bean because that was so soft, but she doesn't seem to mind. Really nice to have the drawstring cords around the bottom too to keep out snow when playing and also good if you've bought it large to grow into.

Perfect
My 12-year old son picked this and he loves it. (He got the one with the orange arms and hood). It fits him perfectly, though he is small for his age. He has already received several compliments on it, too. As a parent, I like it because it makes him easy to find in a crowd.

Why can’t they use ripstop nylon?!
This should be a great jacket for my kid. It keeps him warm and he loves the colors. But regular nylon fabric can’t hold up to active kids. And I buy LL Bean because I have active kids who climb trees, crawl around bushes, and race through woods. The jacket is starting to look like Frankenstein’s monster with all my patching efforts. There’s no way it’ll last the school year, let alone make its way to his little brother.

Disappointed with this jacket
I purchased this jacket last month. I just washed this jacket on a permanent press cycle and the fill/feathers all bunched up in a ball so there was just fabric against fabric. The quality just isn't good with this jacket. I'm returning it.

Perfect in every way!
This jacket is our absolute favorite. We live in Toronto and have a much heavier parka but have only needed it once or twice. This jacket is lightweight but very warm when layered properly on very cold days. My son is very rough and active yet he is wearing it for a 3rd and final season (it's getting snug) with no tears or damage. We will pass it on to another kid for a no doubt a few more years of use. I have read other reviews saying it tore easily but we have not found that problem at all. Maybe they made a bad batch.... We will be buying it again in a bigger size.

The best jacket!
This colorful, happy, and warm jacket is the perfect fit and true to size for my 5 year old granddaughter. She is toasty during horseback lessons (even during the cold and snow of Western New York) and this is an easy jacket to wear around town. I would definitely give this jacket the highest of recommendations.

Exactly what we hoped for
My 5 year old daughter loves this coat. She says she doesn't feel any cold or wind when we step outside into 30 degree temperatures. I'm so glad I was able to find the style she wanted ("rainbow") with the function I wanted. I sized up for my tall/lean girl, so I think we'll get two winters out of it for her and another two from her little sister, so the coat is well worth the price in my eyes.

Hoping we got a dud....
We have loved LL Bean coats in the past, and they have stood up to lots of outdoor play. Unfortunately, this one ripped on the 2nd day of use after one small fall by my 6 year old. It had 3 holes from one smple fall on the sidewalk! She absoluately loves the colors in this one, and we are unsure whether it's worth it to try again and hope another one has the quality we were expecting from such an expensive coat.
