Super Warm and Wind Resistant!
Wanted a jacket to wear over a tee in cold weather and boy did this deliver! Low 20s and windy? No problem! I couldn’t feel the wind at all! Now, the rumors ARE true, the fleece inside upper lining will make putting this on over a long-sleeved shirt a task, but I wasn’t planning on wearing it with long sleeves that often anyway. My only drawbacks are the inability to pack into itself, and most importantly, the lack of an interior or exterior chest pocket. Otherwise, so far so great!

Nice jacket
Great jacket. Comfy and warm. Keeps me warmer than I expected! Very glad I took a chance with this one. Only complaint, however small, is that the LL Bean logo feels a bit cheaply printed on the front.

Bean's Down Jackets
Got the 3XL Size and it is too tight. I get 3XL Polo Shirts from LL Bean and they fit fine.

I am a 6'0" 170lb man living in Alaska who requires multiple layers in the winter for -20 to -40 degree winter nights. This is a good middle layer to protect you from wind and cold. Would recommend combining with a dri-fit base layer, and then a heavy parka to go over the down jacket and you'll be very comfortable in sub freezing weather.
If you scroll through all the reviews, you'll see a lot of people recommend getting one size larger than you normally would. Most of the reviews said the arms and chest were tight. I'm normally a medium traditional fit (I have an athletic, runner's build) so I took everyones' advice and ordered a Large. It fits well overall, but I could have easily gotten my normal medium and that would have been okay in hindsight (the jacket is slightly bulky as a Large for my Medium frame, but not too bad).
If you want the honest truth, most of the people who said order a size up were objectively overweight for their height (for example, a 5'4" person at 200+lbs ordered a Medium, that wasn't smart, of course it's going to be a tight fit...), so the recommendation to order up can be misleading. The safest answer is order your normal size, and worst case scenario is you ship it back for a size larger. Either way, it gets the job done.

Tight squeeze
Nice BUT inside of sleeves is too narrow. My shirt sleeves bunch up when I try to slide my arms in.

Coat is not cut right
Sleeves are made poorly; very tight on arms in our usual size for no reason. Strange fit.

Great Jacket. I would recommend.
I am 6ft. 235 lbs. I would recommend ordering a size larger than you think you are. I love this jacket. Great look, light weight and I love down jackets.

Great Fit, Style & Comfort!
I’m 5’ 11” 215 lbs. I bought a Large Reg. The jacket fits fitted in the mid section but not tight. Perfect length in the arms as I’m a 34/35 in dress shirts. The fleece lining is comfortable as it is mid back & up to the bottom of the neck & under the arm pits but not down the sleeve. I do not have any problems with it getting the jacket on and off. The fleece actually helps the jacket stay centered on the body. I stay perfectly warm in the jacket but not hot. It’s puffy but you don’t look like a marshmallow man. I love the color set up. Highly recommend!

A very good down jacket, with a flaw.
I love the style and the light weight and the warmth it provides. The only negatives I have is the fleece lining in the shoulder area that makes shirts bunch up, especially in the arm pits, and the narrow opening for arms to enter the sleeves.

Nice warm down jacket
Nice warm jacket, a little more bulky than I expected. It has a fleece like lining which is very soft but also catches on your shirt sleeves when you try to put the jacket on. I am 6' 1" and 200 lbs. I needed the extra-large size.

Good purchase
Well-made and warm jacket. The felt lining and down filling really do their work. The jacket is probably best in colder temperatures (20s, 30s).

Great Daily Winter Jacket
This is a great daily winter jacket. Keeps me warm on the coldest of days during the winter for general day to day use. Runs a little on the smaller side, so if you want to wear a base layer underneath, it is probably best to size up or at least try it on before purchasing.

The best jacket I've owned in years!
This jacket is wonderful. I was looking to replace an old Bean warm up jacket. This one is just slightly longer than a bomber but not as long as a parka and the draw cord at the bottom lets me keep it short enough - still allows for plenty of flexibility and is very, very warm and just the right weight. Not so light as to feel like you've got no coverage (which I do not like) but not heavy like a parka. The fleece lining on the top half of the coat adds a bit of comfort and warmth - and is super comfortable. Some reviews note that your shirt sleeves get stuck on the fleece lining which is just at the top of the sleeve. They do a bit, but I've found that many other jackets do as well. I wear my shirt sleeves rolled up and they do catch a bit sometimes. I just poke them down if I think of it, or they fall correctly as I wear the coat. With my shirt sleeves down, no problem. Perhaps LL will make the top of the sleeve nylon - but it does offer a great warmth at the shoulder area! A trade off I'm willing to make. The colors are great, quality is 100%. I absolutely love this jacket.

Colorblock Down Jacket-mens large tall
I am 6 foot tall, 210 lbs, ordered a Large Tall (which is what i wear in their shirts). Fit is a little snug in the middle, everything else is good.
They have dropped the price 20 dollars since I got this coat.
The material inside the coat makes it difficult to put on over certain types of shirts too...
Its OK , but not spectacular.

Warm yet stylish
Our sons’s new favorite jacket. He likes this even better than the 650-down fill jacket due to the soft fleece lining and the fun color block. Keeps him warm with a thin layer underneath in 20-30 degree weather.

Warm jacket
I wanted to wait for a cold day to write this review, and today it hit 3 degrees Fahrenheit. The jacket is perfectly warm for 3 to 40 degrees. The sleeves could be constructed a little better, as the lining comes out every time. They are slim at the opening and there is nothing keeping the lining in place.

Fitted not slightly fitted
This jacket is nice looking and would have been perfect but it's FITTED not "Slightly Fitted" so I had to exchange it for something else. The sleeves were long and the cuffs too wide open so I couldn't just roll up the sleeves. It's not like the Down 850 sweater/jacket that is more forgiving in the chest and has more tight cuffs. This is a terrific jacket for a thin or average weight person who isn't short. The fuzzy part in the upper back area also exacerbated the tight fit but otherwise wouldn't have bothered me as it has other customers who have mentioned that. If you're needing extra belly room and not picky about buttons or unlined pockets for your hands the 1982 Down is similar in price and actually is only slightly fitted so it should fit. Otherwise look for a traditional fit jacket if you need extra room.

Too much flannel in sleeves.
Jacket looks very nice and fits well but I don’t like the flannel lined sleeves. The flannel makes it difficult to slip on the jacket sleeves over clothing.

Upper lining unsatisfactory.
Don’t care for the fabric used in the upper lining of the coat. Pulls at your shirt sleeves when you put the coat on.

Nice Jacket - Runs Small
I'm a huge fan of L.L Bean and have never been disappointed with their products. I ordered a large jacket, my usual size, and found this particular jacket runs on the small side. The quality is excellent and it really keeps you warm, however, it's so tight that I have to dress lightly to use it. I'm 6'2" and weigh 180 so I'm not on the "chubby" side. I would recommend ordering one size up as I wish I had. If you are looking for nice down jacket that will keep you warm this winter, pull the trigger but consider ordering one size larger than you normally would.

Comfort/Discomfort
This Jacket Looks Great and very comfortable, what I don’t like about it is the wrinkle on the sleeves pretty much makes it looks like a low quality jacket.
