Our original SunSmart™ apparel, Tropicwear was first introduced in 1992 to protect destination anglers from the hot tropical sun. Customers quickly discovered Tropicwear wasn't just for fishing, using it for just about anything outdoors. It's been updated with a better fit, new stretch woven fabric that's softer and better ventilation. Best of all, Tropicwear still provides UPF 50+ sun protection, or about 10 times more than a white cotton tee.

Good lightweight spf cover shirt
Color is a bit different than online but decided to keep anyway. Still have one of these shirts from 2007. This newer version is more fitted, but still nicely lightweight.

Love the new fabric and venting
The new polyester blend fabric is cooler and feels better that my 10 year old Tropicwear shirts made of nylon. Pockets are nicely sized, and I think the small loop is meant for sunglasses, but this loop is a bit too small. I wish the zippered pocket was on the front seam like on the Pro version. The back vents work well in hot weather, and the sun protection is great. Overall, I like this new version.

Perfect Travel Shirt
This is the perfect travel shirt... Surprisingly cool... YES, I have worn it riding camels in Egypt, on safari in Uganda, riding horseback in Petra, and most recently in the upper 90 August temps of the Mediterranean coast... and I was actually cooler in the blazing sun wearing this shirt rather than a t-shirt! (I tested this) Importantly, it provides UV protection against the sun. I've owned lots of brands of this style shirt over the years and this by far fits best and is most flattering. But then .....when the sun goes down or out on the boat in the wind, this long sleeve shirt doubles as a light jacket... that's right- this amazing fabric keeps you cool in the sun and warm in the wind. It also dries quickly when you wear it to the beach as a swimsuit coverup or need to do a bit of travel sink laundry. Roll up sleeves make it even more versatile. I know I said it's perfect for travel, but also great for gardening, ballgames, and boating. We spent a lot of time boating and I always have this shirt with me.

Surprisingly cool in very hot weather w/SPF
I bought this for a trip to Europe in August when it was SO HOT. It was actually cooler with the shirt on in the sun when walking around. Initially, I planned to wear it inside churches where I needed to cover up. I found it was actually more comfortable to wear the shirt to keep the sun off me. The sleeve tabs to keep them rolled up are nice. The fit is loose but not unflattering. Definitely recommend!

Perfect sun shirt
Excellent shirt for sun protection. I love that it is now made in the Tall sizes so the body and sleeve length fit me better. I wore this on vacation and didn't need sunscreen on my arms and neck. I also love the pretty lilac color.

Love the fabric but IMO your size chart is a bit misleading. I’m 5’3” and at 113 the size chart says small based on other measurements, while my recommended size shows Medium? I have shopped Bean for years, but recently I find the sizing a bit challenging? Liked everything but the sizing, should have ordered an XS.

A nice blouse with two Velcro-closing pockets, wide enough for my hand to reach in. The buttons are a dark design sewn with thread to match the fabric. I think the buttons need to be a lighter color.

I bought this shirt for travel to a warm country. The fit, the fabric, and the pale orchid color all are great. If you would quit printing logos on the chest and sleeve I would buy more colors and award another star.

I, too, am disappointed that a shirt of this quality and price forces the customer to become a Billboard. I like the shirt but will need to place a patch over the Logo. Buyer beware! I will look closely at future LL purchases.

This replacement for the original Tropicwear Shirt was not an improvement, and after wearing it, I’m still perplexed about the changes: thinner material, oversized, and contoured tail…why? The quality of the original was excellent. The regular medium size is now too large, and the contoured tail detracts from the original’s classic look. I have 5 original shirts and will wear them (and not the new replacement) until they are just threads. Closing thought: bring back the original, please.

Surprisingly comfortable in heat
Shirt is very comfortable - was surprised at first. I'm not used to wearing long sleeves in the heat, but it really does protect my arms from the sun. I like the well placed vents in the front and back too. Soft and very easy to wash.

Good quality fabric,True to size
I’m 5’7” 152 lbs. . Purchased white medium tall. Normally I get regular but usually the sleeves shrink so ordered tall.The shirt is true to size, haven’t washed it yet. It’s not boxy but has a nice feminine look/fit without being snug.
