Tight unlined sleeves
We were gifted a bunch of these from our company. I tried them on when it was warm out yet, so I only had on a t-shirt. The XL seemed to fit ok, I have shorter arms, and these sleeves seem longer than normal, so they are pretty long on my arms. When I got my jacket, it had our company logo on it, and it looks great! However, it's colder outside now so I have to wear more than just a short sleeved t-shirt. With any long sleeved shirt, it is too tight and the shirt bunches up from the elbow up to the armpit. If they added a nylon lining to the sleeves would help a lot. The sleeve would slide instead of bunching up. I used to sell clothing for a company that made shirts/jackets for companies with their logo, so I've seen and know a decent amount about clothing like this. I would not recommend these to the average public. My opinion is that these are designed with skinny sleeves for the "athletic" fit, but my arms are not skinny, and neither are my shoulders, so this jacket is too tight unless i wear only a t-shirt under it. I don't feel like I have full movement in my arms. I've had two other softshells before this one and this one is the worst for me.

I had an older version of this jacket and my major complaint was that the interior of the sleeves was rough, which made it difficult to slide my arms in. This version is better.

Nice jacket but not suitable for rain
This jacket is really good looking and perfectly warm for most spring and fall weather. If you want to stay dry, this is not the solution. Even in a moderate rain the seams let water through. I suppose there are clear lines between water repellant (proof), water resistant and “gets wet in rain” but do not expect to stay dry with this otherwise nicely performing jacket.

Quality coat
I've had very similar coats from other companies. This one is the best made. The zippers are high quality, as is the outer shell. I'm sure this will last for many years.
Its the perfect weight for fall and spring in southern New York.

My so loved his l.l Bean windproof jacket
My son came to me and said dad i like this jacket he seen online it's casual and sporty at the same time made by l.l Bean for school. When he received it It was just as he expected great fit lightweight and all his school friends complimented him. Not counting saying to me dad it must've look good. Girls were looking at me I laughed and said son I'm glad ur happy with it cuz I remember them days in highschool... So thank you much l.l Bean for making him smile and he's very picky! Great product....

Great mid weight jacket. Wear with a sweater beneath or on a cool Maine spring or fall day. If you’re in Seattle, perfect year round to also keep you dry.

Beautiful softshell in Tall!
I bought this for my son, finding that LLBean is still one of the very few companies offering Tall sizes for men. I personali?ed it for him by sewing a Velcro strip on the right chest that he csn use to afix his favorite firearms logo patch. I found the jacket to be very well made. Thanks for saving the day! He'll love it.

Warm, many pockets, fits well, but lining sticks
It fits well and is warm. I like the color and all the pockets. However, the lining tends to stick to my long-sleeve shirt when putting the jacket on or taking it off.
I like the fabric of a similar jacket, that Bean no longer offers, better than this one because it feels softer and the lining doesn’t stick. That older jacket is tan. I’d hoped this new jacket would be of the same material, only navy, but that’s the breaks.
If they made this jacket, with all its pockets, of the same nylon material as my older one it would be perfect.

It Works !!!

Not Acceptable
I really tried to like this jacket but I have problems with the tech material. The first thing is the jacket is a challenge to put on, as the sleeves grab at any fabric you are wearing. You really have to hold on to a long sleeve t shirt so it doesn't bunch up. I think a good jacket should allow better ease of movement without having to stretch the material. The second very bothersome problem is the fabric, inside and out, seems to collect every particle of dust or lint, even grabbing stray hairs. It turns out, I really don't like fleece on the collar next to my skin. Lastly, I tried it out briefly and at 40 degrees, it wasn't very warm as the cool air seemed to penetrate the fabric. Maybe if I drew the hem tight and exercised a bit, I would warm up.

First Insulation

Perfect for Tall people!
My husband loves his new jacket!! It fits him perfectly (purchased L Tall and he is 6'4" and about 210 pounds). The arms are long enough for a very tall man and it isn't baggy in the chest/waist. It is a perfect layer for chilly days, and looks very stylish.
