Perfect weight winter jacket for active kids.
Great mid-weight jacket for kids. It's water repellent, which is great for snow or sleety winter days. It's lighter weight, which my active kid prefers, but easy to layer underneath for really cold days. Seems durable and washes well.

I would not buy this jacket under the circumstances again. The problem with this jacket is number one for a small child. The zipper has no business getting stuck at three points. It’s absolutely unacceptable. At first. I thought it was a Quality Control issue. But then I got the second jacket delivered. Same exact thing. It’s unfair for a small child stuck in the rain to have to fight with his jacket in order to keep himself dry.

Layerable jacket
Great fit and beautiful color, goes well if you favor neutrals. My son is 6 and I sized up to size 8 and it fits perfectly, with a little wiggle room to hopefully fit for a while. It is more of a lighter jacket, however you can easily pair up with a fleece underneath to obtain more warmth, but alone it isn't enough for very cold climates. It is easy to zip up and down and the hoodie part comes handy as a wind breaker. The elastic cloth part on the wrists and lower abdomen help keep them snug and prevent cold air from coming in. I wish it was a bit more insulated, but overall a great day to day jacket that can be layered.

Super jacket for spring and fall, but size up!
Nice weight and style, but size up if you want any future wear out of it. My son is nearly 8 and I exchanged the S for M. Was looking for something brighter so my only reco to LLBean would be to offer more colors.

Great but sizing issues
I bought the 6x/7 for my son and thought it was a perfect spring/fall jacket for MN and ordered the 8 for next year. The length of the jackets is the exact same with only the arms being longer. Now I understand the comments about it being a short jacket. For my tall just turned 6 yr old, the 6 is perfect. Not sure if the 8 is going to be too short and drafty next year. Seems like a quite simple design oversight. ???

Overall a good solid jacket
Let me start with the things that bother me a bit. The first thing is I bought this jacket and buy L.L. Bean for my son because he still has problems with the zippers. L.L. Bean jackets for kids have excellent zippers; big, and for the most part smooth. But this jacket has a spot about 4 inches up (there’s a cross seam right at that juncture that might be responsible) where it gets a little stuck. You can work through it but it loses slightly its functionality. The second thing is the front of the jacket. Chest area and abdominal area that insulation there is thinner than in the arms and also the back. That being said, I consider this a a better than average spring up to late fall jacket. It repels rain really well, keeps my boy warm (I’d say cutoff is 48°) and as a dad who is always worrying, I appreciate the reflector triangle in the back of the jacket.
