Way Better Than I Imagined
This thing is extremely well made. It is thick and heavy! I got it on sale and I tell you, I almost feel guilty about it, because it’s of such high quality and I’m so grateful for that, that I really feel like L.L. Sturdy cold weather beater
When you need warmth that fleece can't provide, wool is the way to go. This sweater feels beefy - like it will really hold up. It's roomy. I usually wear a medium, but small worked better for this sweater.

Wonderful sweater
This sweater is gorgeous. And such quality. I wanted so badly for it to fit me, a woman. I loved everything about it. But the sleeves were too long and I couldn’t push them up because of the patches. I even considered trying to remove the patches so I could push them up. But sadly, I returned. Please make similar in women’s size

I’ve never gotten anything from llbean that wasn’t amazing and this sweater is no different. Great quality , great weight, super soft wool, plus a great roomy but not too roomy fit! If I was to make a suggestion it would be to use a more rugged material for the pocket and arm plackets such as a waxed cotton. I’m just not a fan of the lightweight “tech” type materials… it’s more my issue, then an issue with the sweater.

Excellent Fit, High Quality with a Dash of Hip
I was searching for a heavy crew neck fleece as a mid-layer and was struggling to find one that fit well. I came across this sweater in my search and liked the semi-technical details of the chest pocket and arm patches. Although it might require a little more care than poly fleece, the natural materials help keep my conscience clear.
The fit is excellent. I'm 6'1" 220 lbs, proportionate and the large, tall fits perfectly. The weave is a bit heavier than my other merino wool sweaters but it's toasty without being bulky. I find the material comfortable enough to wear with a t-shirt but those with sensitive skin should consider a long-sleeve underneath.
I live in the sf bay area and this is perfect for an outer layer during the winter or a mid-layer for trips to the mountains. This one will defintely get a lot of use!

Awesome Sweater!
Really like the Slate colored, Maine Guide Merino sweater. Needed a warm layer to wear under an insulated anorak when mountain-bike riding in the winter. This fit the bill perfectly, keeping me warm but not overheated when the temperatures drop and I need to ride. Enthusiastically recommended!

A warm sweater
It is a heavier gauge sweater than most of those knit from merino wool. The only thing that I don’t care for too much are the sleeve patches extend too far down the arm. Other than this small dissatisfaction, it is a very good sweater.

Great quality sweater
This is really a nice, well-made sweater. The moss green color has a lot of depth and the contrasting pocket and elbow/arm patches look great. I purchased both the size Med and Large, and at 5'8 and #185, I kept the Med with enough room but not baggy fit -- arm length is fine. The Large would have been far too big on me, especially the arm length. Typically I am in between the two sizes in most shirts and sweaters depending on the brand. The collar is a nice fit, not too wide, but shows a little color from a tee underneath. Warm but not hot, this will be comfortable worn outside or in the tavern. Great quality and value for the price.

Great sweater
Finally! A quality garment, suitable for use in the field, that harkens back to the quality of garments that I purchased back in the 80s and 90s. This is a soft, mid-weight wool sweater. Sized adequately to wear over a dress shirt or flannel. Suitable for wear in the woods or the office. Great for layering beneath a vest and/or a shell. I was perfectly comfortable wearing it under by rain shell this morning in 43*F rain. And a heartfelt "thank you" to LL Bean for offering a garment in olive/loden colors. Us "old timers" generally aren't fond of colorblocks and flashy clothing. Loden was always the old stand by for men's clothing. I'm 5'8", 150 lbs. A medium regular fits well over a cotton flannel.
