Waterproof but not warm
I bought this jacket because it is waterproof and for all the zippered pockets. It keeps me dry even in the pouring rain. It is not a warm jacket, but since I sized up, I can wear down jacket underneath for warmth. It is longer than my previous L.L. Bean jacket which makes it a bit awkward to zip it up.

Disappointing choice
zipper doesn't work well. sleeves on petite are still way too long.. armholes tight.

Couldn’t give 5⭐️
Love the coat, but COULDN’T give it 5 ⭐️, except for 2 reasons…the bottom zipper gets in the way while zipping the main top zipper and the hood is ENORMOUS.

Mostly hits the target
pleased with most aspects (fit, price, color, pockets, length). Doesn't keep me as warm as I expected. Must layer this winter in the midwest.

Exactly what I was looking for!
I read all of the reviews prior to purchase and it seems the majority of the complaints were regarding the 'noise' of the material and how big the hood is. I decided to give it a whirl. This coat is everything I wanted - I LOVE it! I live in Missouri and I do not participate in snow sports. The 'noise' of the material does not bother me and it is not as bad as others make it out to be. I like that the coat covers my butt and is waterproof, I like that the hood is oversized, has a little bit of adjustablility and is removeable, I like the inner cuff which is soft and comfortable. I feel it runs a bit big, I ordered an XL because I wanted room for a sweatshirt and it is still quite roomy. I will be ordering another one in a smaller size.

Great to stave off windchills, perfect pockets
This has become my favorite winter coat, the best of several LLBean jackets I've ever purchased. It's a comfortable light weight and much easier to move in than my down jacket. The pockets all zip, and there is an outer left chest pocket and inside right with vertical zippers so convenient for small wallet, fare card, credit cards etc. There is an inside lower front mesh open pocket handy for stashing gloves.
Based on reviews I bought a size Large (I'm a regular 10/12) so it will fit over sweaters and other layers comfortably. Length on me is mid-thigh, good for extra protection from wind and wet. I haven't been out in drenching rain yet but so far it seems waterproof, and it's excellent windproofing. I've worn it comfortably in -10 windchill with sweater and scarf layering. It's also lightweight enough for me to be comfortable in temperatures in the mid to upper 40s.
I don't often wear hoods, and was happy to see this strange bulky hood zips off--another signature of the well made design. The front zipper has given me no problems. It's very sturdy and opens at bottom so you don't have to completely unzip the front of the coat for sitting. The velcro in sleeves to allow adjustment a wrist is a very useful feature too. Overall the jacket is very well made with high quality materials.

Could be a great jacket
This could be a wonderful jacket. The weight, style, and fit were fantastic. However, the zipper (on all of these style jackets from Bean) failed after the first winter season. Due to the type of zipper it is, LLBean cannot repair it. So, if you want a jacket to last for one season, then this is it. The same thing happened to the kids' jackets of the same style. We are unable to donate the outgrown jackets as the zippers on 3 jackets have now failed and could not be repaired. We are a family who likes to donate.

Good Enough
I am enjoying my new coat. It’s a nice length and weight. The size is alittle big and the hood isn’t great unless you wear a helmet around. I like the fact that there’s no Velcro and the lining is smooth without material to drag your sleeves up when you put it on.

Great for skiing
I love my other LL Bean jackets, so I looked on the website to find something that would work for skiing. This jacket is tough, waterproof and keeps you warm and dry when on the mountain. Has enough pockets to give you options for putting your stuff, without having TOO many pockets which can get confusing. Nice and light, with a good length to cover bum for more flattering look. When i first put the jacket on, I was surprised by how stiff the jacket felt (compared to my other jackets). However, this has grown on me, and the jacket does soften up a bit.

Wildcat jacket in petite
I bought size medium in petite category and I’m very happy with my wildcat waterproof insulated jacket. It is definitely waterproof and windproof and has plenty of room underneath for layers. (I’m 5’1” and weigh 110 lbs. ) The cuffs are great, length is also good. Covers my bum, which I like. The actual color is darker than pictured. I would call it a forest green shell. I wear a knit hat with a pom pom under the hood and I can still turn my head side to side. Works for me. (The insulation is flat recycled material so it’s not super fitted but also not puffy.)

Beautiful but sizing has changed
Gorgeous coat, just like my old black one that I wear daily six months out of the year. (Except hood, as noted by others.) I ordered this lovely silver-not-shiny color to wear on nighttime walks for safety. But sadly it is not sized for 40" chest as advertised, and is slimmer all over than my Large Reg older coat. There is no XL available and sleeves would be too long on that, as L sleeves are just right (longish but perfect when driving). Sizing Geniuses: our arms do not grow longer when we gain weight. Really love this coat but either I lose 20 pounds or it goes back.

It wasn't for me
It wasn't that warm. Not to mention even sizing up I wouldn't have had room for a sweater under that, and it was stiff.

Flattering winter jacket
Reviews affected my decision to buy so I thought I would share mine. I'm a curvy girl (12/14 bottom) and this fits me great. The two-way zipper is nice in case you want a little extra wiggle room in the hips. Sleeves are perfect and extra length covers your backside. Color is more gray-blue than teal (still pretty) and the two-tone accents are flattering. Now the hood. Yes, it is big, but can be adjusted with the drawstring so it does the job. Also, the side pockets are in a good position.

warm winter coat
This is a warm coat. Lightweight but well insulated. The color is also good -- I wasn't sure about orange, but it's a warm almost burnt orange and it's fine.

Good Quality Jacket
Purchased a 2X black jacket. Shipped & received as advised it would. Jacket fits comfortably, is warm in 20 degree temperatures and the color is the same as picture on website. I especially enjoy the two inside pockets and the outside chest pocket with zippers to put my car fob and cell phone for easy access.

Keep going
I was shocked at how poorly insulated this jacket is. It's rates warmest but that's nonsense. You need something super warm under this jacket to get by. I just started wearing it and it's been over a year or back it would go. Notice how thin it is. There's no insulation and it feels its when you wear it. I froze in this jacket.

Great fit
I am 5'7 220 lbs and ordered a 2x, the jacket fits perfectly. I normally wear a tee shirt under jacket. I did put a sweatshirt on when the weather went down to 8 the other night. Sleeves are long enough. Its definitely wind ,water and snow proof.I went though all weather conditions the other night. It has a double zipper if you not used to using one it can take a day or two to get used to it. So far I am very pleased with my jacket.

Perfect except difficult zipper
I love the jacket. It's warm and perfect for skiing. The only problem with it is that, as others have said, the zipper is difficult. Other than that, I think it's perfect. It does run small - I'm 5'7" 135lbs and I bought an XS and it fits perfect, even with multiple layers.

Sleeve length issues
Purchased petite hoping to get more proportional arm length as many coats these days seem to have longer and longer sleeves. I sacrificed coat length and still the sleeves must be shortened. …And now, a month later, the jacket is $40 less! Frustrating for sure, but I do like the coat and will wear once sleeves are shortened.
