used for a safari and it held up perfectly
We recently returned from a Kenyan safari and I bought this bag specifically for that trip. We had to use soft luggage and LL Bean's merchandise has always proven to be of great quality. This bag/backpack held up perfectly. There are backpack straps that can be tucked in when not in use, and there are extra reinforcing straps on the side to put less pressure on the zippers. This is a great bag.

Approach Travel Pack
I bought this backpack to hold my artist supplies for plein air painting. It’s big enough to hold my pochade box, paints, brushes and mediums, and dry canvases with lots of zip compartments to keep things separate. So far it’s great! I love the color and fabric.

Europe trip
perfect for trip to Europe. I got this for my daughter to use on her trip to Greece. She said it was perfect and easier than using a roller bag.

Nope
I find the zipper that goes all the way around very hard at the 2 corners. I've argued a few times trying to zip. It's not for older fingers.
I do like the rest. Contribution and comfort

Great on the go pack from a trusted brand.
Roomy, yet compact, this backpack is easy on both the shoulders and the eyes. It stands easily on its own thanks to the slightly wider, boxy base, and was the perfect piece of luggage for a four day jaunt. No problems carrying it onto a budget up-charge airline like Spirit either.

Quality of Backpack Luggage
The zippers on this bag don’t work well at all. When zipping around the corners, the zippers are very difficult to move. If I had not had the bag monogramed, I would have returned it for a different backpack.

45L carry on travel backpack
5"0", 66 yo female, purchased for travel. After packing and doing a trial run as home for 3 days, I felt uncomfortable with the length of the bag. After researching and measuring my toro, 15 1/2", I decided to try a shorter length bag that proved much more comfortable. Therefore, I returned.
This 45L had tons of room for a week stay with left over space, good material and construction. However, it may not meet airline specifications for the overhead bin.

well thought out
Just used it once so far for short trip by air that required little clothing. My 30-year old LLB backpack had seen better days and I prefer to wear rather than roll a carry-on suitcase. I chose this one because it made the most of the dimensional allowances (at least on United). Best feature is that it packs like a suitcase but has all the extra conveniences of a backpack, including externally accessible compartments. Good choice.

Perfect for a long weekend
I’m a woman in my 50’s who enjoys weekend trips. I wanted a bag that was easier on my shoulders than my ThirtyOne bag. And wanted an alternative to a wheeled bag. This backpack is perfect! It’s large! Using packing cubes is even better. I can fit several pairs of jeans, shirts, shorts, shoes, bathroom bag no problem. The buckle in the front makes the weight on my shoulders better. Love this bag.

A Rare Disappointment
I wanted to like this travel pack, I really did. It was the right size and seemed to have the compartmentalization figured out for a three night trip. But the pack arrived folded and no matter how I tried, I could never get the sides to straighten out, which made packing in the main compartment nearly impossible. I eventually returned the pack, and as usual had no problems there. But Boy! I really wanted this to work.

The only bag you'll need!
Pockets, compartments, sections, ohhh my goodness this is the best backpack I have ever had and better than any suitcase, simply because I have never been able to throw a suit case on my back - now I can! I am so impressed with this backpack, it's wicked awesome! L.L. Bean, you've out done yourself on this one and I tip my cap to whomever designed it! Thank you!

This backpack is amazing
It is the perfect bag for anyone physically capable of carrying a backpack rather than pulling a suitcase. It's very well- and thoughtfully-made and designed, with waist and chest straps, and compartments to organize your things. I can't wait to take it on a trip and will update my review when I do.
