This is the second of this particular jacket I have purchased. I loved mine so much I got my outdoorsman nephew one too.This jacket is my go to for almost everything! It is wind proof, it is heavy enough without being bulky and it wears very well! Mine looks new after 3 years! Absolutely love it and I am picky!

Great "Windproof" fleece!
A couple of years ago I tried an earlier version of L. L. Bean "windproof fleece" and returned it because is was way too stiff and cumbersome feeling. This "windproof fleece" is definitely windproof yet soft and pliable to the touch. I also like the look of this fleece's exterior pattern as it gives it a "dressier" look than standard fleece.. A keeper!!

Stylish and Wind-Blocking, With One Small Flaw
I absolutely love this fleece jacket! It really does block the wind and looks fantastic. The style is modern and flattering, making it perfect for both outdoor activities and casual wear. The material feels high-quality and keeps me warm even on breezy days.
The only thing I wish it had is a more elastic sleeve cuff to keep the sleeves in place. Since it’s marketed as windproof, this small detail would make a big difference in sealing out drafts. Without it, the jacket isn’t perfectly windproof—but it’s still an excellent choice overall.

Not heavy weight I asked for
Like everything in the "new" LL Bean, the customer isn't the priority. I wanted the old super warm 300-340gram micro fleece and Bean's doesn't give that sort of details any more. They bet on us accepting what they send. Mine went back. They can waste their money by not fully describing the article if they want. I bought it elsewhere.
Bonus points if they post this.

Very nice jacket all around however I wish I had read the "slightly fitted" part in the description. The fit is for people with a flat stomach. As my stomach is not flat the fit is very tight wheb zipped up.

Outstanding Value – A Windproof Fleece That Punche
The LL Bean Mountain Classic Windproof Fleece genuinely surprised me. For the price, it delivers exceptional wind resistance, great warmth, and practical everyday usability. It’s become a dependable part of my layering system—especially for early mornings or cool, breezy days when most fleeces fall short. I got it in medium, and it fits fine, perhaps a little roomy. I may have gotten away with getting a small but I believe that's a bias.
Unlike standard fleece jackets, this one features a true windproof membrane that blocks gusts entirely. That alone puts it in a different category. Add in the soft inner fleece and the classic styling, and you’ve got something that’s equally suited to casual wear and outdoor utility.
It’s warm enough to serve as a standalone outer layer in cool weather and layers well under a shell when things get colder. While it’s not built for technical abuse like crawling through brush or prone rifle stages, it’s perfect for travel, daily use, and general outdoor work
This fleece feels like a hidden gem in LL Bean’s lineup. It may not carry the marketing buzz of premium brands, but it delivers where it counts—and at a fraction of the price. I’d absolutely recommend it for anyone looking for windproof warmth without spending over $100.

Everything I expected and more.
I needed a light to medium weight jacket, or fleece to wear in New Jersey’s strange in between weather. It’s chilly in the mornings and warmer during the day. This fleece jacket fits the bill. The sleeves are a little long, but I needed to order an XXL and a tall so that is easy to live with. I like the different colors, too. The gray and teal are definitely a departure from my usual.

This jacket functions well as a wind proof layer alone down to mid 30’s or colder with another layer. It is substantially wind proof, which a person needs if they play out in the cold.
The long size I bought covers well and the color combinations make it very attractive

Its Windroof but I would not call it Fleece
Comfortable for Late Fall or Early Spring chillness. With layering it can be effective in winter time for moderate outdoor activity like hiking. Its wind resistance is quite good. It feels a bit stiff because of the windproof coating. Hence, don't be fooled by the name "Fleece". It does not feel like fleece.

Great Jacket on the slim side of "Slightly Fitted"
overall, this is a great jacket that is way warmer than I had expected given the "warm" rating (this is likely due to the windproof layer cutting down on breathability and helping to trap body heat inside the jacket). The fit description advising that it fits best over a lightweight layer is certainly accurate as it feels a little snugger across the chest and midsection than my sweater fleece jacket that is also labeled as being a "slightly fitted" fit, but a lot of that is probably due to the lack of a windproof membrane and looser fleece "knit" which gives the sweater fleece more give. I bought this jacket to have as a windproof jacket that will get a lot of use down here in the South during what passes for winter with the intent to wear it both as a standalone layer as well as wearing it underneath a hard shell for days that are both cold and wet. And while I haven't gotten a chance to test it out as a mid-layer, it certainly holds its own as a standalone layer to keep me warm by blocking the wind and keeping me warm, but I would certainly appreciate a bit more give room in the midsection (there are side panels that don't have the windproof backing, and those provide some give, but it is important to note that the fit on this jacket feels a bit slimmer than other jackets in the same size and that supposedly have the same "fit").

Great wind proof fleece!
Had this for a few years. Just used it to go cross country skiing in 20 degree weather. Completely wind proof and warm with a fleece underneath. It runs big. I have a medium and I had room for a sweater fleece underneath.

Warm, windproof jacket
I was attracted to this jacket for its wind proof rating as well as the chest zipped pocket for one’s cellphone and/or wallet. It has performed well to resist the chill winds of Indiana, while offering light insulation from the design and construction. My wife particularly loved the color combination on me. So it’s now my favorite jacket.

Sizing has dramatically changed
I have this in another color that I bought 3 years ago. Very nice jacket with good windbreak material. I wanted to buy the navy color and ordered the same size. I was very surprised at how tight it was across the chest now. So much so it fits like a wetsuit. Length of jacket and sleeves and hip the same. Why did ll bean tighten it up across the chest? Oh well at least I can still enjoy my old version that fits great.
