Handy and Versatile!
Well-made pants, extremely useful and versatile for various activities like boating or hiking, and for changing temperatures. I’ve sworn by these (lost a lot of weight, had to buy a new pair) ever since I blew a chance to go the Vatican Museum on a blazing hot August afternoon, because I was wearing shorts (forbidden!), while practical Scandinavian tourists were just zipping on their “legs” as they approached the entrance. Never again!

Great travel Pants

Africa and Alaska!
I was looking for some light pants to wear on a safari in Africa last year. I needed something that was good for the cool temperatures in the morning, but could be turned into shorts when it got hot in the afternoon. I also wanted waterproof in the event it rained while out on safari. Luckily I stumbled upon these pants. They were perfect for the cool mornings and I turned them into shorts many times on the trip.
Fast forward 6 months and I'm on a cruise to Alasak where I did a helicopter excursion to the top of a glacier. I was concerned that the pants were just a little too light to provide warmth while on my Alaska trip. I was wrong. These pants were perfect for a cruise to Alaska. Add in the waterproof feature for the rain (Southeast Alaska gets a ton of rain!) and these pants were perfect.
I'm shocked at the versatility of these pants using them to travel during a safari in Africa to a cruise in Alaska.
The additional pockets make it very convenient to store all the items you may want to carry when going out on an excursion.
They fit perfectly, and more importantly, they are very comfortable. I'm very particular when it comes to pants and I'm thankful I now own 3 pair of these.
The icing on the cake is that they are super light. That makes packing them in your suitcase critical when weight is a factor (such as when you are packing for a flight).
Couldn't be happier with these pants.

I actually returned them for several reasons:
1. I prefer a button vs snap closure
2. Found a less expensive pair that unzips vertically as well; which means you don't have to remove your boots!

Perfect for long hikes
Great! These were a present for my husband to use on his Scotland West Highland Way trail hike which involved some 13-mile hikes. Cool at night? wear the whole pant legs. Hot at noon? unzip the shorts. He loved all the pockets for his phone, snacks and keys. The downside? He wants another pair for when these are in the laundry!

Don't Work for Me
They don't work for me. Too baggy and the fit is not right. I usually get a size 38 waist but that doesn't work for me in this style of hiking pants. I've tried a number of different hiking pants from LL Bean and the size always has worked well for me. These pants are made very well however!
